Manic Street Preachers - Always / Never Lyrics
Always, never on my mind
Always, always out of time
Always, always letting someone down
Always, always wanting more
Always, always stand-alone
Longing for, it's been a long time longing for
To carry the sky away
Always, never said and done
Always, always change my mind
Always, always trying to succeed
Always, never facing you
Always, never being true
Always, always gonna be this way
Longing for, it's been a long time longing for
To carry the sky away
Always, never
Always, never
Always, never
Always, never
Always

superb track, great bit of slap bass
Listening to this album again today. I listen to this album often. I love it. I associate it with the worst hurt of my life, when my brother committed suicide in Australia. I have dual citizenship but choose for now to live in Scotland. I buried him and just got in a car and drove with this album as a companion. I have memories of driving through a Kari forest and pulling over and just howling a deep existential wound from deep inside me. There was no one around to hear me. I will always love this album. I love that Manic surprised everyone with an amazing album like this.
Superb album
autobiographical till the end... THERAPY
A bit like The Cure sound wise too.
I bought this album, so much use.
great sounding guitar on this track.....is it Fripp - the same guitarist who Bowie used on Scary Monsters? ....only gripe is the way the track seems to end abit suddenly.....like a bad fade out....they could have stretched it abit more or made a better job of the fade out....other than that a great song from a very underrated and misunderstood album. Lifeblood didn't do well as many Manics fans felt alienated by its different sound, but it was a brave album by the Manics which should be credited
This is the best song that David Bowie never sang.........it's has Bowie all over it, and I could really imagine him saying it. If David Bowie had ever made an album between Scary Monsters and Let's Dance .....in say around 1981, then he probably would have written a track like this one....still sounding fairly similar to Scary Monsters, but properly 80's....which Scary Monsters wasn't as it still sounded slightly 70's in places. This is a great track and should have been a Manics single.
Know any vids of a live version for this?
id wager that this song has never been played live
@Joshua Cooke pretty sure they played it when I went to see them during the Lifeblood Tour at the back end of 2004 into 2005, I went to Cardiff to see them, the original date got canned late on due to James suffering flu and losing his voice so waited for the rescheduled gig and pretty sure they played nearly all the album that night. Can probably find the setlist off the Forever Delayed forum if I ask nicely lol 👍👍👍
@Jonny Red I was at that concert, I remember being in the Pub ready to go and we were told it was postponed, gutted but had a great Cardiff night with a 43 yr old female manics fan lol I was 26! went to the rescheduled gig and loved it, Can't remember if they played this tho.
Thank you for uploading this song.
