Manhattan Transfer, The - So You Say Lyrics
So you say
It's a feeling I'll get over someday
So you say
So you say
I should try
I should try
So you say
Against the wind
With my face turned to the empty side
Of loneliness
Midnight black and blue
So you say
That the world will keep on turning
So you say
Tell me why
All the stars have lost their mystery now
Tell me why
Tell me how
Where love has been
The taste of wine
Seems to linger on like distant perfume
And all of the memories
Carelessly left behind
Ghosts and lies
They haunt me wherever I go
So you say
That the pain of love will pass away
So you say
So you say
Before goodbye
I look for the fire behind your eyes
But they're cold as ice
I hear in your voice
The echo of love that's gone by
Now I cry
I'll love you for all of my life
So you say
It's a feeling I'll get over someday
So you say
So you say

Sad sexual sadistic mystique groove I never get tired of listening to this & many others!!!
Obra do super mestre Djavan.
One of my favorite alto solos, and such a nice job by Bentyne. So much great musicianship in the rhythm section with their great 4 on 6 feel. So under appreciated.
🎷 solo is an amazing!!!!
This is as good as sad & sexy gets !😊
What a beautiful hommage to Djavan and Brazil.. thanks, we love it

Cheryl Bentyne's pinnacle song. You FEEL it, coming from her.
I never knew vocal (group) jazz could be so enthralling until I heard Manhattan Transfer. Never mind the Hi-Lo's and the Four Freshmen !
Cheryl is amazing in this song
David Sanborn make you cry""""
Apparently some don't realize this was composed by Djavan himself for his Lilás album (1984).
guilty - i would be one of those uneducated souls. good to learn something new. :D
Thanks ! I'll search for his album, "Lilas" (1984) I'd heard of Djavan's music, but not all of that recording.
FOR ALL MY DETROIT PEEPS I MISS WJZZ
Clarissa Scaife I found some of WJZZ out there

Thank you for this post. I have had this song in my head for years and years..something said "perhaps the title is as it sounds!" and I found this today, this morning when i woke up ..i always thought this was by Madame Celia Cruz...hark there it was....love it. classic forever!
Heard this song this morning for the first time in probably over a decade and it brought memories of my angst ridden young adulthood. It's beautiful melodramatic rendition had me in tears many a day as I nursed a broken heart. However, as the song says it's a feeling you do get over one day and the world does keep spinning. In my fifties now, I can tell you that the sun does shine again. For anyone that needs to hear that ;-)
good song
David Sanborn on sax is incredible! I love this song
It is Stan Gets!
reminiscent of my home sweet home,New York.another time and place.
viva o Mestre Djavan
Songs like this inspired me to be a singer.
Powerful, moving song with ultra passionate sax solo! One the great songs and recording of all time for me. Excellent album!
R.I.P. Tim Hauser . . .
Do it Jerry!....Djavan does a beautiful job with this tune
I feel like walking the beach , picking up sea shells enroute to break fast at the old bagel nosh on state rd 7 in Lauderdale Lakes.
That must be David Sanborn on the saxaphone.
Stan Gets actually
Yep....D
It's David Sanborn. Stan Getz does not put that much dirt on the notes.
Besides, Stan Getz played much larger saxophone than Sanborn ))
So you say ;D
Very nice sang in english too !!
I need to get this in a format other than the cassette tape I break out from time to time. It's so beautiful. And shout out to Djavan, who's awesome in his own right!
I was looking for this song for the longest and it brings tears to my eyes bcuz me and my dad used to listen to wen i was a baby.
I played this song over and over and over again, it so helped me get over a break up with who I THOUGHT was the my soul mate, turns out I was wrong, lol!!!
Probably my favorite song by them of all time. I also like Djavan singing this as well.
First time I heard this, I was a teenage girl. I was smitten by it.
Many more zeros should follow the number of views as well as many more comments for that pure musical gem
