Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Solar Fire Lyrics

See the morning dancer, crossing the sky,
Turning gold to amber travelling by
He must know the answer
He must know why.
Looking for an answer look to the sky.

Shadows getting shorter filling your sight
Brightly burning starfire, life giving light
Dawning into morning
Day into night
Looking for an answer, look to the light

Sunlight streaming burn through the night
First light stealing shine solar fire.

Starting from tomorrow look to the sky
There's a new day dawning passing you by
Follow on life's dancer and than you'll know why
Looking for an answer look to the sky.

Sunlight [etc.]

Saw this line-up 4 times around the time of this and the Good Earth albums on tour with Uriah Heep and then with Brian Auger. To see them perform live was a real joy. It was more than just the music. The staging, lighting, even the way they moved around on stage was woven into a performance that is memorable to this day.

I was a planetarium director in Macon Georgia when this album caught my attention. My staff and I ended up using nearly the entire album for a laser light show and it was a great hit with our growing audience. People came back week after week t see it and we broke attendance records at the planetarium that month. Hearing it again brings back a lot of memories. Our light shows then were not the pre-canned computerized versions of later years. We performed live running the laser and special effect projectors as we felt the music and did whatever seemed right that night. Those were the days! If anyone out there saw the shows we did in Macon between 1977 and 1980, send me an email at [email protected].

Thanks, one. of my favorite album with them, please more views

  31. D.... A....

Nice music performing There is something there..

  32. f.... ....

I think it's the best album from MMEB , despite it lacks commercial success such as Blinded By The Light

    f.... ....

Manfred Mann (without "Earth Band") had lots of pop hits in the 60s:
"Ha Ha Said the Clown", "Mighty Quinn", "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", "Pretty Flamengo", "My Name Is Jack" and many others...

    f.... ....

but that's very different thing from MMEB . there's also third band of Manfred Mann - Chapter 3 (but some themes written in it, were re-used and rearranged by Earth band)

    f.... ....

@flykeys "One Way Glass" was a Chapter III song that was redone by the Earth Band. The Earth Band version was off Glorified Magnified.

    f.... ....

the song Messin' was written by Mike Hugg during Chapter 3 era too

  33. J.... B....

This album is missing the song. '"JOYBRINGER ". . .

    J.... B....

EnosEverything The American pressing has JOYBRINGER on it and I bought that one!!!

    J.... B....

"Joybringer (Based On Jupiter From Holst's Planet Suite)" was a single from 1973. It's B-Side was "Can't Eat Meat". The song was never formally included on any album, apart from Best Of. It was put on the 'Solar Fire' album in a few different versions as a bonus track.

    J.... B....

The only American vinyl pressings of this album were the 1973 Polydor pressings and all of them had Joybringer on the record and label, (side 2, song 3). However, not all the covers show it. The earliest American copies of the album show the UK song listing on the back. It was soon corrected, with Joybringer added of course. On the UK album, the song Joybringer was never used in any way. The song Earth, the Circle part 2 was always used as the third song for side 2.

    J.... B....

I bought the U.S. Polydor version of Solar Fire soon after MMEB released "Roaring Silence". It definitely included "Joybringer".

    J.... B....

I own both the US pressing on Polydor and UK pressing on Bronze, and true, the US pressing had "Joybringer". That song was only release as a single in the UK. My father bought the Polydor copy when I was a small kid and was baffled as to whatever happened to "Earth, the Circle Part 2". Years later I found out.

  34. B.... A....

One of the best albums of all time!

    B.... A....

One of the thousands best albums of all time ;)

But sure an outstanding album that truly gave me special bumps back then :)

  35. D.... O....

...and I remember this album shuttered my world and that solarfire still melts my brain. Def.

    D.... O....

Do you mean SHATTERED - as in broke to pieces ???... SHUTTERED means closed off.

  39. V.... ....

I had the pleasure of seeing this show "LIVE" about 5 times. Always "spot on!" At the time Argent was also on the bill and they were great as well. They don't have too many concerts like this anymore these days. Glad I was there when they did!

    V.... ....

    damn, I'm jealous :o)

    V.... ....

Lucky! I watched MMEB two times , in modern times (in 2000s). and I was impressed how he improvised on Minimoog synthesizer. Solos in Martha's Madman or Davy's On The road were always different in each show. Manfred has a talent of improvisation.

    V.... ....

Lucky you ... i would have liked to have Argent on the bill ... but Climax Blues Band and Curved Air wasn't bad too ... MMEB really had a hard time to get me back in after Sonja Christina blew me away (sitting right in front of her) ;) Hold your head up! :)

A great album, the title song being one of my favourite hardrock pieces of all time. If possible I play it from vinyl on my old Telefunken player with a LMA 5 system from Ortofon and give it the full 260 Watts boost.
