Man Man - Ice Dogs Lyrics

Am I supposed to close my eyes as you walk away from me
Am I supposed to blind myself so I'll never have to see
You walking side by side with a different kind of man
Who'll redefine your body in ways I know I...

What if I don't want to go now
Will you come put these eyes out

So don't go and blame your mother for what's your father's fault
Or all of your daughters will turn out just like you
Bent on destruction and burning through your beauty
And looking beyond your years by the time you're only...

What if I don't want to go now
Will you come put these eyes out

Oh c'est la vie please don't go and abandon me
When the bridge burns down and the bad blood tastes like wine on the wind
(And they say) Beware of the man in shades, beware
Beware of the man in shades, beware

I stutter step my way across desert lakes to try to sweat the ghost of the past
So I can lay my anchor at last at your feet

(As they say) Beware of the man in shades, beware
Beware of the man in shades, beware

I am the man in shades, yes I am
I am the man in shades, yes I am
I am the man in shades, yes I am (and this ship will sail, and this heart wont die) [x5]

Oh c'est la vie please don't go and abandon me
When the bridge burns down and the bad blood tastes like wine on the wind

I am the man in shades, yes I am (and this ship will sail, and this heart wont die) [x3]

The problem is the labels. Indy or mainstream. We are not one dimensional. You put labels on things that are to life changing to minimalize. Its your retarded take on music that screws everything up. The mainstream will never understand this music because its to different from radio play and you won't explain it or introduce it to people from fear of others liking it, so there will never be any deserved respect for it. This band will shape future musicians and I guarantee most will be put in your mainstream category. Why can't you certain "indy" fucks just listen to what your attracted to. You are what is wrong with art.

  9. K.... P....

just noticed that there's barely any kit percussion in this song

  10. V.... ....

honus honus has the most sincere and unique voice and i love him. man man's earlier albums really were some of the best experimental rock out there

    V.... ....

    Agreed.

    V.... ....

Man Man, Mother Mother, Everything Everything

  11. E.... M....

    This song is SO good.

  12. P.... ....

    See you there comrade!

  13. E.... V....

they're coming to boston oct 20th at the paradise rock club, so's you know [I know the comment was a year ago]

  14. B.... ....

Stop. Just stop. You're being selfish. What if great music like The Beatles or The Who or The Rolling Stones or Bob Dylan never got popular. Wishing a band to not become popular is robbing the entire world of their greatness. Don't let your identity become so attached to music to where you only appreciate underground bands. Just enjoy the music and hopefully change what is considered "popular" in mainstream music.

    B.... ....

who are you talking to? haha

  15. B.... ....

    shadoo bawa-ahaha

  16. S.... R....

I love your comment. See, it's funny because you're using a word that has devolved to become a catch-all insult.

Gayred Gayn isn't a hipster, just a faggot.

  17. T.... p....

I'd be worried if Man Man became popular, not because they'd change, but because I'd not listen to them the same. There's a terrible pride I have in knowing that only I and a handful of other people listen to their music, and I'd feel almost cheated. It's self-centered and vain but it's there. I want their music and their profundity all to myself I guess.

    T.... p....

Tasty pathos and that makes you a piece of shit

    T.... p....

Chill out man, he/she was just being honest, sometimes it's hard not to feel that way because of how much time you put into looking for good bands, its like shoveling shit for pennies sometimes so part of me does get annoyed when people around me just get all the fruits of my hard labor for free. That said whenever anyone asks what I'm playing, I'm happy to tell them for the bands sake.

  18. t.... ....

dude they were in boston a month ago, people were dicks apparently

  19. D.... ....

Give it another year or two, they'll be huge

  20. M.... ....

Actually glad they aren't more popular. When bands go mainstream, they start to suck because too much is expected of them.

  21. S.... G....

    This ship will sail!

  22. R.... ....

    Yeah, manny thmanks.

  23. i.... ....

I love this song and this band. I'm seriously surprised that they arent more popular. I'm mad. They're on tour again but none of the shows are very close to me. I wish they'd come to Boston. It'd be 100% imperative that I go.

  24. A.... S....

this song is sooooo awesomee love it !!!
