It would be really boring to cover Hendrix and playing it exactly as it sounds on the studio recording. Hendrix never played his songs note by note. Most of his live performances were improvised. Hendrix was a pioneer and always drifted out in instrumental madness which was awesome. Yngwie did the same and did his own thing. I hate covers that sounds exactly the same as the original because it's pointless to do that.

I think its an invalid argument to say that someone overplays Hendrix since it was Hendrix thing to overplay. :)

wow, Yngwie is an amazing guitarist and can do insane stuff on guitar - but vocals, I undertand not wanting to be dependent on a vocalist but at YJM level he can still have the spot light just playing guitar and have a singer in his band.

Not that "too many notes/no emotion" crap again. I would say the rhyrhmsection is somewhat limited compared to Hendrix'. But Yngwie is playing balls out and has much fun. He doesnt even overplay here. Very tasteful runs and good dynamic. But the Rhythmsection is sooooo flat...
Nevertheless, we can be happy some people still having fun playing rock n roll with skill AND stage appearance. Why is everyone is so depressed and jealous these days? Jimi was high on drugs 99% of the time and played fkn sloppy and his vocals are aaaaawful. But his rhyrhmsection had a good groove, which made 95% the magic of Jimis music.

Jimi rythm and feel is very difficult to reproduce, this is a big reason why he was so unique.

Sorry, but this was just the most narcissistic overplayed and worst singing/talking voice I’ve ever heard. Jimi could play and sing. He was confident in his talent and played with feeling. Yngwie, thinks he’s the bomb and his voice sucks to high Heaven plain and simple, in my opinion.

Jimi couldn't sing either, and he was well aware of it. He started singing when he heard Bob Dylan and realized you can get away with a bad isnging voice in pop / rock.

In truth there is nothing much not to like about Hendrix, although, have seriously reached the conclusion, just a few songs are really great or outstanding, while the rest, pretty much, average mundane, or lousy. He may not be the great guitar player, people imagine. Or, had some obvious limitations. Flaws. Musically, very repeating. Repetitive.

The point is, Malmsteen, can muster more beats, in an intro, per second, than Hendrix, has in an entire song.

Have been trying to remind people. Hendrix, was more Funk, Soul, Groove, with a basis, Blues rock. Yet, not typically, refined, as a blues artist. Or lacked discipline. Now, he was also, marginally, hard rock. Or, Psychedelic rock. Although, would argue, in no way, really is the music conducive, really to hard rock, or heavy metal. He was never really these things. Or an influence. Not in beats, riffs, or drive. Not technically.

Steve Vai has claimed, Jimmy Page was his greatest influence. (Zeppelin). He also talks fairly about Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore. Van Halen, has stated, his biggest influence, was Eric Clapton, Cream. Although, also claims, he learnt his tapping method, technique, through the influence, Jimmy Page, Zeppelin. Hence, the other influence. It seems clear, who are the real influences. However, Malmsteen, has stated, he never listened to Hendrix, or influenced, and claims, not really Music, in his view? Or, complimentary.
