Mae - The Overview Lyrics
I've felt the beauty and held the pain
I've been healed in the fire, and I've been burned by the flame
Lost in the dark, found in the light
And at the end of the day and the night
All I want is to trust, I just gotta believe
Gravity keeping me down, this is setting me free
So much more than before, got me thinking
So how do I get back home?
Get back home?
Get back home?
Whether or not I belong, it's my song
Get back home, yes sir
This is only a test
Yes, yes (Yes, yes)
This is only a test
This is only, this is only a test
I'm floating in ether, and spinning in stars
Time capsule a minute, million in it jars
Take in the tune, believe the view
Going up and then down, all around, make it through
Hey!
So how do I get back home?
Get back home?
Get back home?
Whether or not I belong, it's my song
Get back home, yes sir
How do I get back home?
Get back home?
Get back home?
Whether or not I belong, it's my song
Get back home, yes sir
Yes, yes (Yes, yes)
This is only a test
Yes, yes (Yes, yes)
This is only a test
This is only, this is only a test
So how do I get back home?
I used to think that God was up above us
There to judge us
Not to love us, but to hunt us
But now I see
That in between
And underneath
All of the things that bring us fear are shrinking
So how do I get back home?
Get back home?
Get back home?
Whether or not I belong, it's my song
Get back home, yes sir
How do I get back home?
Get back home?
Get back home?
Whether or not I belong, it's my song
Get back home, yes sir
Test, test (Yes, yes)
This is only a test
Yes, yes (Yes, yes)
This is only a test
This is only, this is only a test
Yes, yes, this is only a test
Test, test
This is only a test
Yes, yes, this is only a test
Test, test
This is only a test

Mae The Overview Comments
What the fuck lmao. It sounds like your channeling SA Martinez....it works better than it should
People seem really split on this song in particular. I have to admit it had me scratching my head the first time I listened to it. I'm warming up to it, but slowly. This album still has a lot of strong tracks, though. I just wish that half of it wasn't released early as an EP....
Keep listening. As you get to know this song, it'll definitely grow on you...in a big way. Although some songs overlap between 3.0 and M.A.E., they aren't necessarily the SAME song. As Dave has said, some of the songs that are on both pieces are variants of themselves between the two pieces. A Race For Our Autonomy is quite noticably different from 3.0 to M.A.E.
I want to love it since I love you, but I can't. I hope the rest of the album is better.
Keep listening to it. It'll grow on you. Promise.
the first time i listened to this i was very turned off, the speak singing felt really cringe-y and wrong but now i keep listening to it and i can’t stop liking it
Same here and it's my first time listening lol
Sounds like a Singularity B-Side
That's not exactly a compliment

This song made me interested in the new album
It grows on me with every listen. The meaning behind it is great.
EXACTLY! I've been crushing this song on repeat alllll week. I was super skeptical of it after the first couple listens, but it's wicked grown on me this week. Such a gooddddd song.
This is awesome!
I really like the vibe of this song. It’s neat to see them dipping into more sounds and styles.
I love you guys, but what in God’s name were you thinking with this....
Matt Guay you don’t have to listen to it lol
Andrew Fleming Mae is one of my favorite bands ever and I’ve been looking forward to this album for a long time. Just stating my opinion.
Keep listening, dude. The song has wicked grown on me in the past week or so, and I was skeptical AF at first too. It's definitely a bit of a different sound for them, but it really is such an incredible song once you get to know it.
I personally like it. It's very catchy, and experimental.
I'm with Patrick, this song grew on me big time
Wait, so does the vinyl include more than just the 3.0 songs that were released already? I'm confused and want all of it.
@Patrick Luker I liked being used to what "autonomy" sounded like and then getting surprised by the album version with all the extra stuff. So yeah I need that song. I just want an opportunity to purchase it. I have every MAE album on vinyl and want to support them... but I also want that music and it's on the internet somewhere
@patrick soler yikes, yeah, it's really gone. I wish there was some way I could share it with you. :-/ I just started collecting vinyls a few years ago, and I think I have all of Mae's now...? Was Singularity ever pressed? I don't think I have that...
@Patrick Luker Well not "everything". You're right, singularity wasn't (YET!) But I have all the others https://www.discogs.com/artist/346702-Mae-2
@patrick soler Ha! I'd recommend against holding our breath for any new life to Singularity. I think Mae and the world around them all agree to just leave that album as it is now for the rest of time. Not saying it's a bad album or unworthy, but it's definitely a chapter in their story and M.A.E. makes clear that they've long since moved on from that chapter.
@Patrick Luker I love hearing the story about that record and how much was spent on it. I know it's not Dave's favorite but I'd still like it all. Either way, let's hope those different songs from 3.0 see light again sometime. Another B sides record??
This is weird but I like it!
