Well everyone knows Webber is a plagiarist but so is everybody who scores big movies/broadway shows (except Sting) and I love how he ALWAYS throws in rhymes you KNOW are gonna be filthy but they always surprise you with the PG, “forced us to be blunt” and you KNOW the rhyme is going to be “c**t” but it’s the wholesome “front.” I love how Webber teases us like this so often. And I loved how Antonio sang and acted the PANTS off Madonna in “the role she was born to play.” He STOLE this movie!!! Love him!!!

Tim Rice wrote the words, and his passion for the subject is the reason the show was written.

Just saying, give credit. :)

I saw the musical in the WestcEnd in 1978 and it’s remained my all time favourite- especially this song. Loved the film too

This may be my favorite song on the soundtrack. The film segment should've had dancing, not just characters singing at the screen. Director Alan Parker was a tad lazy in that regard.

Well, it has nicely choreographied sword fighting and... such. Yeah, Alan Parker did that a lot like in The Wall, people singing directly to the camera like a Victorian photograph. :D

Madonna made the Evita musical unique. No one could ever sang this songs like she did...They hit your heart like a drum ..and have in mind that Madonna isn't a soprano. Anyway I remeber back in the day that Maryl Streep wanted to play the role of Evita and she got mad bc Madonna won after the emotional latter she sent to the director. And Maryl Streep after she watched the movie and heard the critics about the good Madonna acting in it she said if I remeber correct "At least I would sang better"...lol Sorry Maryl...I love you but I don't agree with that.. I hear you in the Mama Mia musical... It was good but it was not unique.

This show was unique on Broadway, did you see it? Live was awesome!!!

Kongkos Michele Fhifer was also a serious contender, but the right person won the role. Madonna was radiant as Eva Peron.

I think Meryl would ve done good,but Madonna shined as Evita.After all she did get to be in Mamma mia and she did shine quite a lot as Donna.
