Good grief i cringe every time i read someone saying American Life was the worst Madonna album...like a comment way down below.. It's one of those statements that just totally PROVES that someone doesn't REALLY TRULY get Madonna..the way her mind and musical evolution functions.. There is no such thing as -The "worst" Madonna album, for crying out loud.., there are just eras of politics and and human consciousness expressed by very few artists..and if you don't think about and GET such things then you are bound to make idiotic comments of the sort..-The w o r s t Madonna album..such a phenomenally one neuron thing to say..

@***** It came out amidst the last time when the US was in a big turmoil and it has vibes from very difficult and split times...and that's why people find it "heavy" and not catchy dance pop tuny...and a younger generation knows nothing really of it's history and can't be bothered to find out. Anyone with a sense of depth and care for the rest of the human race, and able to look deeper than a mere surface of glitzy witzy bum jiggling ..will absolutely love this album. It is the opposite of another one of Madonnas master pieces, Ray of Light.

You're absolutely right. AL didn't sell well in America hence people don't really like it. As simple as that. But it is my favorite album, despite all the criticism I get for it! Not that I care.

Kinda agree, kinda don't. It's DEFINITELY not her worst, but definitely not her best in my opinion. Love Profusion is neck and neck with I'll Remember for me as her most underrated songs.

American Life was great because it's anti war message is woke af especially for the time.

On the contrary. American Life is her BEST album. Highly underrated.

Her last real and honest album to date. "Rebel Heart" is good but such stupid songs like "Bitch Im Madonna" or "S.E.X." truly ruins it for me

Silly people. This was one of many songs for a musical called Hello Suckers that Madonna was working on around 2003 - 2004 that was never completed. She created all of the music for it though, and some was leaked or worked into other tracks.
