Madness - Rain Lyrics

Listen to the pouring rain
Listen to it pour,
And with every drop of rain
You know I love you more

Let it rain all night long,
Let my love for you go strong,
As long as we're together
Who cares about the weather?

Listen to the falling rain,
Listen to it fall,
And with every drop of rain,
I can hear you call,
Call my name right out loud,
I can here above the clouds
And I'm here among the puddles,
You and I together huddle.

Listen to the falling rain,
Listen to it fall.

It's raining,
It's pouring,
The old man is snoring,
Went to bad
And bumped his head,
He couldn't get up in the morning,

Listen to the falling rain,
Listen to the rain

chas smash...superfluous wannabee. And he knows it.

  3. trevor brown

What a well constructed song. 1984 Madness were probably at the height of their fame. And Suggs looks really cold in the beginning of that video.

1998; my dad won a competition on the radio and he received a bunch of new releases on CD, one of them was 'Heavy Heavy Hits' by Madness. He wasn't a fan of them so he never listened to it, but I on the other hand played that CD non stop on his stereo, and this song right here was my favourite from that compilation. Good times!

    It's raining again,
I'm hearing its pitter patter down.
    It's wet in the street
Reflecting the lights and splashing feet,
    Nowhere to go,
And nothing I have to do, have to do.
    It's raining again,
I follow the Christmas lights down town.
    I'm leaving the flow
    Of people walking all around,
    Round and round,
I hear the sound of rain falling in my ears
Washing away the weariness like tears.
I can feel my troubles running down,
    Disappear into the silent sound.
    Just walking along,
My clothes are soaked right through to the skin,
I haven't a doubt, that this is what life is all about,
    The sun and the rain.
Scraps of paper(???) washing down the drain.
I feel the rain falling on my face
I can say there is no better place
Than standing up in the falling down
In so much rain I could almost drown.
    It's raining again
A crack in the clouds reveals blue skies
    I've been feeling so low(low)
But now everything is on my side
    The sun and the rain.
Walk with me fill my heart again
I hear the rain falling in my ears
Washing away the weariness like tears.
I can feel my troubles running down,
    Disappear into the silent sound.
I feel the rain falling on my face
I can say there is no better place
Than standing up in the falling down
In so much rain I could almost drown.
Do de do do de do do do
Do de do de do de do do do

  33. Steve Morgan

Sweet Britain ......... 9 months rain & then waiting for Mr sunny.

  34. TheMrPangloss

One of the best tunes ever made. They still made lots of good music in the 80s.

  35. www.DrumsTheWord.com

    What a tune! Booootiful!

  36. Daniel Howe

Thought of as nutty boys but they were fabulous and the only ones who are nuts are the ones who dislike this piece of genius! Oh and the video is hilarious and brilliant!

  37. Marathon

Possibly their best, but then there were so many. They started out brilliantly and in my opinion got better over time ... maturing, well as much as they were prepared to mature. Yesterday's Men, Tomorrow's Just Another Day showed them in a much more vulnerable light. But then there was always Uncle Sam to bring it full circle back to sheer unadulterated fun (though there was probably a message in there that to this day escapes me). But this song was for me their greatest achievement, a celebration of a group of lads just having a good laugh and talking about a subject that everybody in England has an opinion on. And thank goodness they chose to film it in pouring rain rather than on a beach somewhere. The rain in this song is evident to see. The sun is just them having a good time.

  38. Kate Markham

    Love ❤️

  39. Mark O'Neill

Absolutely brilliant, but then again we are talking about the magnificent SEVEN.....

  40. Big Guy’s 45’s

Peaked at just No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1984. Song was a big hit in their native U.K. the year before in 1983.

  41. Alan Mac

15 UK Top 10 hits but only one No 1 with "House Of Fun". Only one US Top 10 hit with "Our House" This was their last UK Top 5 hit but one of their best.

  42. sauquoit13456

On this day in 1984 {March 31st} Madness performed "The Sun and the Rain" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
Four months earlier on November 13th, 1983 it peaked at #5 for week on the United Kingdom's Singles chart...
And on the same 'Bandstand" show they also performed "Keep Moving", it was track one of side one on the British band's album of the same name, "Keep Moving" peaked at #6 on the United Kingdom's Albums chart on February 26th, 1984...
Two tracks from the album made the UK Singles chart, "Michael Caine" at #11 and "One Better Day" at #17...

  43. Alejandro Moreno S.

Pure magic. They just don't write them like this anymore. I wish I could go back to the early 80s and stay there.

  44. Circus Midgets

How Madness had only one No.1 hit is madness.
