Madness - Cardiac Arrest Lyrics
Papers in the morning
Bowler hat on head
Walking to the bus stop
He's longing for his bed,
Waiting with his neighbours
Got to get the first bus
So much for him to do.
He's got to hurry
Got to get his seat
Can't miss his place
Got to rest his feet.
Ten more minutes till he gets there
The crossword's nearly done.
It's been so hard these days
His mind wanders to the office
His telephone, desk and chair
He's been happy with the company
They've treated him real fair.
Think of seven letters
Begin and end in 'C'
Like a big American car
But misspelt with a 'D'.
I wish this bus'd get a move on,
Driver's taking his time.
I just don't know, I'll be late
Oh dear what will the boss say?
Pull yourself together now
Don't get in a state
Don't you worry
There's no hurry
It's a lovely day
Could all be going your way
Take the doc's advice
Let up enjoy your life
Listen to what they say
It's not a game they play.
He'll never get there at this rate
He's caught up in a jam.
There's a meeting this morning
It's just his luck oh damn!
His hand dives in his pocket
For his handkerchief.
Pearls of sweat on his collar
His pulse-beat seems so brief.
Eyes fall on his wristwatch
The seconds pass real slow
Gasping for the hot air
But the chest pain it won't go.
Tried to ask for help
But can't seem to speak a word,
Words are whispered frantically
But don't seem to be heard.
What about the wife and kids?
They all depend on me!
We're so sorry
We told you not to hurry.
Now it's just too late
You've got a certain date
We thought we made it clear
We all voiced our inner fears
We left it up to you
There's nothing we can do.

With a bit of stick-to-itiveness, you too can decide to just stop having that silly heart attack!
This is what the blacks do accept there's no British accent and the British aren't jumping around on the floors
Probably THE! most underrated English band, Madness were genius.

Papeles en la mañana
Bombín en la cabeza
Caminando a la parada de autobús
Él anhela su cama
Esperando con sus vecinos
En la cola de la hora pico
Tengo que tomar el primer autobús
Mucho para que él haga.
Tiene que darse prisa
Tengo que conseguir su asiento
No puedo perder su lugar
Tiene que descansar sus pies.
Diez minutos más hasta que llegue
El crucigrama está casi terminado.
Ha sido tan duro estos días
No es tan divertido.
Su mente vaga por la oficina
Su teléfono, escritorio y silla.
Ha sido feliz con la compañía.
Lo han tratado realmente justo.
Piensa en siete letras
Comienza y termina en 'C'
Como un gran carro americano
Pero mal escrito con una 'D'.
Desearía que este autobús se moviera,
El conductor se toma su tiempo.
Simplemente no sé, llegaré tarde
Oh querido, ¿qué dirá el jefe?
Reúnete ahora
No te metas en un estado
No te preocupes
PAPERS IN THE MORNIN
64 kilobytes sound exciting me
Haven't heard this since the early 80s when I was at school. Wow, another great Madness song . Rose tinted glasses at work I know but that era really did have some great bands and the charts were full of memorable and diverse songs. Shame we have to grow older and cardiac arrest changes from a fun pop song and humorous video to a condition we start to try and avoid!
Work will KILL you if you let it. Your job is NOT your life. Your family and loved ones at home are much more important. They are waiting for you to come home tonight, so make sure you do that!
2020 anyone. keep madness Alive. love it
This song needs to be played at all Corporate Christmas parties and at other office parties also. It is still crazy the way people put their jobs ahead of their personal wellbeing. By all means add value at work because people do depend on you, but you depend on you even more.
They were masters of video clips makers...When video clips still told and story according with lyrics and music...what an age!
Imagine just chilling on the bus and there’s a xylophone solo
MADNESS=CHOCO CHOCO=テクニシャン

✌️👅✌️ I LOVE MAYUMI💘
Sad to look back on when our country was still a normal country
The Blue Brothers?? Aykroid,Belushi?? Jaja
Other than David Woodcock, where has this delicious vaudeville song-writing gone these days?
Typically tongue in cheek song from Our Boys.
Classic song from a classic time 🎷
Intro sounds like Queen's "Let Me Entertain You"...
Whenever I watch old Madness videos they always make me smile. Humour pathos and fantastically well crafted pop tunes.
Wow! A message in a bottle.
Back in the day when London was London & was 100% better than it is today
anyone get a popup video about heart attacks before this music video started haha
TAKING THE BUS IN LAREDO, TEXAS REALLY SUCKS... THEY'RE A BUNCH OF 🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵...
2019 and this tune still bangs hard
The nuttiest sound around!
chas smash is a natural in all the videos! he would have made a great about! effortless each time!
This is such a great song and amazing video. No million pound productions, but a low budget video yet far more entertaining.
Pull you self together
Look at what budget cuts've done.
The old days, when buses had a conductor.
You cannot take money with you. Be happy.
hang on isnt this the fortnite tune ?? lool
Don't Worry)
Buenísimo
I was never into madness, but now i got older and seeing them on youtube, i think they were really clever and entertaining.
Lol this was about the yuppies
It'd be nice if that bus was still in use , with a blue plaque on it's side with the nutty boys on.
Also that look of fear on Sugg's character's face, when he realises he's about to have a heart attack is just so real-looking.
What I always remembered from this was that guy standing by the open bus door, wearing the suit and bowler hat while doing that wacky dance while the vehicle was moving at speed.
1 million views, finally! This absolute classic deserved way more.
Suggs winks a lot in this video

I miss London gents dress in bowlers and pinstripe, its Madness where the time has gone.
For a brief second at 1:33, I thought, "Wow, is he opening a laptop in 1981???"
I thought Barzo was driving the bus
3200th like.
Wish suggs was my friend
Great band
I miss Madness so much as i miss my Stoned Friday Nights... (Sigh)
I get nervous / anxious / twitchy just looking at the video lol
Just heard a sample of this on the Fortnite game.
1:36 mind blowing
Do you guys know who is the guy at the beginning, at the pool table? Chas Smash? Now it really bothers me, for some unknown reason! Thanks in advance!
80s are the best songs
Most cheerful song about a heart attack I've heard.
So in other words, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't? Yeah, sounds like life.
2018 anyone
56 People need to Let up & Enjoy their Lives!.
Dawn of the Dead. Class.
Back when songs not only entertained, but told a story. And on top of that, a video that actually follows the narrative of the lyrics! This is unheard of today. This is one of the many reasons I have been a Madness fan for over 35 years.
The name of the song is a bit unfortunate
What is with Suggs' obssession with winking?
1:33
Your welcome
Stop this Madness! He's not wearing a bowler. It's a homburg 😀
A fantastic, fun video matching a fantastic song! Now that's a rarity!
Ooooooh such a song!!😛
Should play this on public transport every morning...😎😎😎😎😎😂
This song helps me to cope with my Math Exams.
Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Madness and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily.
A very boring life.
Actually late 70s but more active around the 80s
Oh my misspent youth. .
Very clever song
I'm fifty, I worry about this all the time
Take the docs advice.
Let up and live your live.
ya got to pass 5000 Illegal immigrants just to get on a london bus .
CIVIL WAR is Coming very soon .
The Madness of Labours PC LIB LEFT Immigration , will be the cause .
I always carry a xylophone in my briefcase
Brilliant the way various characters pull out xylophones and saxaphones. No one doe London like Madness
a mark3 police car . god im bloody old !!!!!
Suggs really suited a bowler hat . very cool .
i am too addicted to this song
I'm glad there was a happy ending after all, when the dying businessman perked up and joined in the singing and his face had lost the ghastly pallor of imminent death.
I have a 17 mile journey everyday .........
Don't you worry! Play your xylophOneee! It's been a lovely morn. Take out your saxophone!
Does anyone else love the ending when everybody just starts smiling and singing together?
Só eu de brasileiro aqui?
The guy playing the conductor always has the goofiest parts in their videos.
My nine year old girl loves this...so proud!!
Oooooh yass
Ha I knew Chas Smash when he was at school, I was two years older and he was friends with my younger cousin. From what I remember he was one of those people you couldn't help liking, always ready to have a laugh and quite a funny bloke himself. I'm glad he did well.
One of the best songs from madness
OMG how much more this applies today.
I noticed this morning that my heart rate's uncomfortably fast. I played this anyway.
I've caught the No. 253 bus!
Life just wouldn't be the same without a bit of Madness!
I see faces and traces of home... Back in NY city (Genesis, TLLDOB)
