Made In Heights - Murakami Lyrics

I hear the bells I hear the wind
I hear a song in my heart again
In the tenderness moves all things
Like a poltergeist in the streets
It's a silly rush that I used to get
Singing Billie or reading Vonnegut
I could teleport to the stars
Kinda strange that I'm all alone

Cause you really hold me down like that
Cause you really know what's down like that
Like the universe is singing a song (hoo, hoo, hoo)
Do you feel it when you write like that?
Do you feel it cause you're down like that?
Like the universe is singing a song (hoo, hoo, hoo)
[x2]

It's just a story though
Is it a story though?
I can't tell if it happened cause it felt impossible
Don't know whether it was real or a dream
Imagination playing tricks on me
Now tell me what you know
Is this a story or
An allegory for the racket knocking at my door?
What's the difference if it's real or a dream?
Imagination playing tricks on me

What's the difference in my love or scheme?
The difference in what you say what you mean?
What you mean you don't really know?
I'm losing touch with the physical
I'm showing up in the future like I've been here before
Ain't that a story though?
Like you ain't even know
Somebody switching the digits up on my Casio
Don't know whether this is real or a dream
Imagination playing tricks on me

Perhaps I am the only one who feels this way, but at about 2:27 this song transitions from absolutely amazing, beautiful, and angelic into loud and intrusive. I see how there was an effort to be creative, but the song went from smooth to wild way too quick. I put this song on my smooth music (cause I love it) but I either have to put it on first or last because of the hard-core rockish segment that interrupts, and degrades the awesomeness of this magnificent song... Just my opinion...

    Matthew Phelps

Yeah the horns and percussion get a bit abrasive, I can agree. However, I think the "rapping" makes up for this. Really excellent wordplay happening.

I don't know if I can attest to the rest of what this band puts out of not, but this song, right here ladies and gentlemen, is phenomenal. The timing of the bass is perfect. It hits your ears with this soft but deep rhythm at just the right moment. But even better than this, the thing to me that brilliantly makes this song what it is, is the second verse. Her words come at your with such tenacity, and yet they speak about the most genuine feelings that I have ever heard an artist express. But before we get into that, take a look at this here:
"It's a silly rush that I used to get, Singing Billie or reading Vonnegut".

Have you ever read a book, a fantasy, and gotten this magical feeling from it? This is what I feel when I hear the words she is sings in what I quoted above. I do not mean magic as some harry potter wizardy, though if HP does it for you that's perfectly ok too, but I'm talking about some sort of magic that comes from putting your mind so deeply into another world. Maybe it comes from understanding that world, I don't know..

Anyway what I really wanted to mentioned was that, during the second verse, she comes at you with this fast aggressive style, almost rap like. But my goodness does it sound so great. Her style just flows like silk ribbons, whipping you back at the end of her line. Notice the additional layer of her voice at the end when she says
"What you mean you don't really know?"

I can play the whole song again and the moment she says that, it makes it worth it everytime. You could seriously just cut to the second verse and make a whole song out of it.

It is not often that I can hear a song that has the capability of evoking such emotions from within me. Much respect for this song

    Doodah

So many likes but no answers on this comment. You captured perfectly what I feel about this song so thank you very much for that.
