she doesn't make a good case for justifying the behaviour of kids these days.  Simply saying 'it's not your day any more.....don't care what you have to say' is not good enough and comes across as ignorant.  If she wants to defend the ignorance of many kids these days, all she has to do is to ask 'who brought them up?'    The answer of course being the generation before them, so they are entirely to blame - not governments, and certainly not schools, but the generation before them.  Failing schools are nothing more than schools filled with kids from bad parents and it is not the job of the schools to raise kids.  Let's see that in the papers the next time a failing school hits the headlines.  Would any paper have the courage to print that? No chance - be politically correct and blame the institution, not those who actually raise the kids

I think you missed the point of the song.. She doesn't literally mean the Youth of Today literally. She uses the present as an analogy of the perpetual cycle of older generations that consistently chastised the younger generation of their era for being rotten/ill-mannered/out of touch etc. This song could easily apply to the parents of the hippy crowd baby boomers, the parents of the disco drugged out 80's kids, the parents of the spoiled bratty kids of the 90's/early 00's and so on.. The song is actually about being positive about the next generation, encouraging them, and not judging them even if you don't understand their mannerisms.

I followed her from the beginning but I knew just few days ago that she was only 15 when she wrote this song.   WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!! With a simple melody she knows the key to build a song like this being only 15. WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!

This is a really beautiful song.  When I first saw her I thought it would probably be some crude song about how partying is cool and people used to be lame, but it's a lot deeper than that, and holds true for every generation.

I just came across it accidentally, & am SO grateful I did!What sounds to me like Spanish Guitar in the beginning is heart-tuggingly beautiful; the melody is gorgeous, & her singing is so unusual and again, heart-rending! I don't even know if this is a new artist, or 1 who's been around awhile! I'd love any info anyone cares to share about this remarkable young lady! i come from baldersdale, near barnard castle in england and this really good park has just been revamped and now it is awful. the made is really little kiddy and everything because they don't want older kids "vandalising the park" i mean wtf seriously ?
