I couldn't stop playing When Will You Come Home and Soon, My Friend back-to-back on repeat, biking through the verdant, light forests of Amelia Island with my family. It was a cool May morning, and prom had been the night before. It was junior year, over three years ago. The sky was clear and perfectly blue. I was coming off of a high of having been crowned Prom King (which back then was a big deal, the underdog theatre, chorus, and advanced-course student had overtaken the jocks; now it's a happy memory of a simpler time) and spending time with quality friends in a sweltering cabin (such is Florida) after all that. This was one of the last golden memories I had with my family, as a unit (strange unit as it was) before my parent's unhealthy marriage finally buckled, and a new chapter was brashly ushered in for my life. As I press on, I am forever grateful to have sweet memories tied to music like this.
