Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gotta Go Lyrics

I don't care who you are baby
Don't care about all the friends that you know
And why you chose me
Lord, sweet mama don't want to know
Can't tie me down baby
Don't bring me down
Chains can't hold me, I gotta go

I don't want your money baby
Don't care for your fancy clothes
And how you people live together
I say Lord in Heaven only knows
Can't tie me down people
Don't bring me down
Oh the man can't stop me, I gotta go
Gonna hit that road
Buy me some coke

You can take all your charm baby
Yea sweet daddy knows where it goes
Yes it does
You can tell your big sister thanks alot for the hole
Can't tie me down baby
Don't bring me down
Chains can't hold me, I gotta go
Gonna hit that road
I gotta go, don't hold me baby

  5. O.... M....

"...and how you people live together, heaven only knows". Used to associate this song with "I'm a Country Boy". Similar vibe, though this fits more with the "sing for just a minute and then it's all guitars for 3 minutes" Skynyrd song format. The T-for-Texas live recording also appeared on this mid-priced cassette. Preferred this to "I've been your fool" of the 2 unreleased songs

    O.... M....

Loved all that slide on been your fool though

  6. V.... M....

  8. T.... R....

Kooper didnt want to release Free Bird until Ronnie talked him into it. What a mistake THAT would have been!

    T.... R....

I think Kooper loved Freebird. The one he didn't want to release was Simple Man. Would have still been a huge mistake.

    T.... R....

@Joey Knight Yea it was Freebird and Simple Man. He liked Freebird but i think he thought it was too long. Freebird and Simple Man were 2 of their 3 most memorable songs. I'm glad Ronnie convinced him.

    T.... R....

Ronnie 'escorted' Al to his car and said to come back when they called him. Al did as he was told.

    T.... R....

@ReetaR Exactly. Al said "Ronnie was a pretty persuasive man" I believe in an interview on that.

  9. T.... R....

Dont know why this wasnt originally released as a single. Think it was from '74. Al Kooper was producer then.

  10. J.... B....

  11. D.... ....

Is it Ed King on the 1st lead solo?

    D.... ....

Dogdrum sounds like Gary to me, but could be. Definitely Allen on the other solos though

    D.... ....

@Michael Brill My guess is Collins on the first solo and King on the second solo.
