Lupe Fiasco - Conflict Diamonds Lyrics

Diamonds are forever
They won't leave in the night
I've no fear that they might
Desert me

Uhh, F and F, up
Diamonds are forever

Yeah, ya know what I'm saying
I figure, I feel like I'm should just, ya no
Show people the other side that wonder
Where, ya know wat I'm sayin'
That are presently unaware

They don't know about it, ya no wat I'm sayin'
Ya know jus' show 'em there's another side
To this thing right here we call bling

Allow me to break down the game
Behind the bracelets, earrings
Chains, watches and rings, the bling
The crystal encrusted, princess flooded
Canary studded, blue colored and blood stained

Yeah, the older brother of the drug game
That giver of fame, the take awayer of lame
The empowerer of the kings that came to claims and disease
Believe what the native people were saying

Believe my engagement ring received and flossed
At the cost of a bondage child minus pain
Long ago kings use to wear 'em in their armor
When they fought other armies because it use to scare 'em
If you wasn't rich couldn't wear em

Witches use to marry and they'd shoot you before they share 'em
The gift and the curse, the venom and the serum
Most hated ladies best friend get marked for a clip

You know what I'm sayin', I ain't comin' down on nobody
You know what I'm sayin', I ain't tryin' to judge nobody
Or nutin' like that
You know wat I'm sayin', I've lost to

I might go and get me a pinky ring tommorow
You know wat I'm sayin' but I just want you to see man
You know wat I'm sayin', jus' see, man

Sissero so old and genocide
Until the countryside just to get his shine on
I fear what the beards and his peers use to do
Before the world really knew just to get they mind on

Making paper from slave labor and hittin' little kids
With life time bids making 'em cut and shine stones
Inflating the price and making 'em look nice
And I wasn't thinking twice when I was putting mine on

About a young shorty in Sierra Leone
Or other conflict countries that people call home
I figured I would never go to Angola
So it never did affect me that made me
Though maybe indirectly

That my necklace was funding a rebellion or a military coo
Started by militias that don't believe in following none of Geneva's rules
I was brushing of the haters, trying to be cool
Didn't have a clue that the rapper was helping the rapers
Raiders of the villagers, pillagers of the schools

Shooters of the innocent, torturers of the witnesses
Burners of the businesses
At my birth there was the few
Uhh, I ain't pushing an agenda, homie
I'm jus' pushing the facts, fuck Bush

'Cause there's people doin' worse on this earth and there black
I took it for years now let me bring it back
We all know on foreign shores that they finance wars
But asks yourself do they finance yours

When I first got mine I took 'em out on tour
They only lost half the value when I took 'em out the store
Or it was full of moistened Nikes and cubics
But the jeweler knew I was stupid and that I couldn't prove it

Feeling like I need it because I do music
To impress the groupies and the interviewers
So I didn't appraise it nor did I loop it
Even gave 'em to my girl thinkin' I was cupid

Homies were all hating, hoping they could make me lose it
Creeping through my own hood, knew I had to remove it
I see the Russian Mafia, the Jewish Mobsters
The undercover terrorists and the traps for the hustlers
Homie, it's a rap for the nonsense rhyming
Props to Kenya I call it conflict diamonds

You know what I'm sayin', I ain't comin' down on nobody
You know what I'm sayin', I ain't tryin' to judge nobody
Or nutin' like that
You know wat I'm sayin', I've lost to

I might go and get me a pinky ring tommorow
You know wat I'm sayin' but I just want you to see man
You know wat I'm sayin', jus' see, man

Lupe Fiasco Conflict Diamonds Comments
  1. G.... P....

Drinking game: Take a sip every time Lupe says, “You know what I’m saying?”

  2. H.... K....

This song is cool, you know I know what I saying, I think it’s rather goo, see what I mean, I like it, you know what I’m saying, man.

  3. P.... ....

They lost half the value once i took em out the store🔥🔥🔥

  4. B.... D....

Lupe Fiasco killed it on this track!! The way he jioned the 2nd and 3rd verses like that is magic!! It sounds so perfect too!! It's August the 13th 2019 and I'm still pumping it!! What happened to Rap Music?? I can't stand the trash of today!!

  5. J.... B....

    Listen to drogas wave

  6. G.... ....

Lupe Fiasco destroyed kanye's version, just saying.

  7. J.... M....

None of you truly have human consciousness. You are all the biology of the human without the mind/soul/consciousness of the human. The DNA strands that enable you to experience real human consciousness and your multidimensional, non linear polymorphic nature are kept dormant in all humans by the non human system of control that dominates you. You all have brain activity but no real thought process. You are all the illusion of conscious, thinking humans. Everything that you say and do is preprogrammed by a multidimensional artificial intelligence system of control. The same multidimensional A.I control system creates the illusion of human life and physical places through digital technologies. A large percentage of the people and places that you see through your screens do not even exist beyond the screens that you are viewing them through. Everything from footage of celebrities to footage of planets are just digital creations of the multidimensional A.I system of control.

Humans are lied to about real nutrition and deprived of the full spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals that you need to function at a higher capacity. Humans are perpetually polluted and poisoned with synthetic chemicals, biological nano technologies, and toxic radiation emitted from all electronic devices. Malnutritious and poisoned humans are trapped in an unnatural state where their bodies constantly need. Humans are forced to labor for resources do to being in this unnatural state of needing. Humans are forced to embrace external slave technologies while neglecting the healing and genetic development of the primary technology that is their body. The multidimensional A.I control system promotes hate based ideologies and cultures that perpetuate anger and malice to ensure humans remain in constant psychological suffering. All of this and much more contributes to you remaining in a poisoned, controlled and unconscious state of being. The truth hurts.

  8. L.... T....

    Kendrick can't touch this

    L.... T....

He really cant. Kendrick is overrated.

  9. C.... C....

I respect artists like lupe that talk the truth and spread awareness , not like the other artists that talk about sex money cars.
    e.g
    T-PAIN
    LIL WAYNE
    KANYE WEST
    ETC....

    C.... C....

+Omar Hediya Kanye was actually the first hip hop artist to educate the masses on blood diamonds. This beat and sample was actually from Kanye's Diamonds From Sierra Leone. Lupe actually sends a shout out to him in his last verse. Listen.

    C.... C....

+Nderitu Nduhiu I know but what is Kanye now? money and power took over him

    C.... C....

+Omar Hediya No. He's using everyone to obtain a goal. He knows what he's doing.

    C.... C....

+Nderitu Nduhiu kanye is the one who helped lupe to get bigger back in the mid 00's

    C.... C....

you're seriously dissing Kanye on THIS video? Jesus Christ

  10. r.... j....

Comparing Kanye's version with Lupe's you gradually understand now who has the moral high ground and who has sunk to new lows.

    r.... j....

+Theodore P No but Anakin Skywalker did

    r.... j....

+Backrowjoe He did not, it was Obi Wan that had it.

    r.... j....

+ray jones Actually funny you would say that. You gotta watch Lupe's story arche over time. I'm not sure you will find more high ground if you are discerning. Kanye's version was the 101 class to get the masses up to speed without making their heads explode.

  11. L.... ....

"You gotta know to be a hypocrite"

  12. P.... ....

Happy to announce I've uploaded a new exclusive Lupe Fiasco video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOlZnqTWl0M

    P.... ....

lupe my favorite that you have wrote 1. hip hip saved my life 2. Superstar 3. Kick push!! and like a lot but those three I play everday just about since their realse never gets old hip hip saved my life is my story!!

    P.... ....

+Aravia Newton hip hop saved my life stupid spell check!! but yeah thanks lupe for not selling out!! like the rest..

  13. C.... D....

Please support the sale of CVD diamonds which are truly the only 100% conflict free diamonds in the world.

  14. C.... P....

Chills every time I listen to this song. Lupe bodied this track!

  15. M.... ....

    Shit! Killed it!

  16. D.... ....

Lupe will always be the best. This song always gives me chills.

    D.... ....

Lupe Fiasco is Definitely top 5 of all time in my opinion. Not saying his number 5, just in the top 5. The only reason I couldn't give him the number one spot is because he went missing for a few years, or just the lack of Hits? I know his had more than a few, but compared to Eminem he's on the low side a little. He is definitely the best at kicking knowledge!! I love him, and this song is Absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥

  17. B.... L....

You see I don't think Lupe has gotten worse, he just started off too good and it must be hard to improve on some of his older tracks, like this for example.

    B.... L....

I feel like he's followed the mos def route...started off as an amazing mc ended up an average maker of Frankenstein mixed genre music. People say this is rap 'evolving'...it's funny how rap is the only music on earth that people feel the need for evolution

    B.... L....

@rsgthelarge1 Dawg.. if you consider Tetsuo and Youth "average", what is extraordinary in your mind? T & Y was a pure hip-hop album. If you are love rap for lyrics, then you should love T & Y. It's still Tetsuo Season where I'm at.

    B.... L....

@Brass Lungs Man, no way. This is lightweight stuff for Lupe. Maybe its because he's become a bit more cryptic. His earlier tracks are easy listening but his latest stuff you need to pay a bit more attention.

    B.... L....

Yeah is most recent album after leaving the record label was one of his best in recent memory.

    B.... L....

yeah i kinda wanna see how this convo would go in 4 years later after tetsuo and drogas waves

  18. E.... P....

    this shits on kanye's version

    E.... P....

Actually, this is an extension of Kanye's "Diamonds from Sierra Leone". Yes, Kanye wrote and produced the track and won a grammy for the original song that came out on his second studio album(Late Registration), but Kanye and Lupe are friends and this song just elaborates on the subject of conflict diamonds.  They're both kick ass rappers. I just wish Lupe could get more exposure.

    E.... P....

@Raye923 i think the reason for that is after they both put out 2 or 3 albums maybe some mixtapes, kanye kinda bowed down to his label and stopped doing it how he wanted, but lupe wouldnt do that, came out with lasers, which even tho fans putt it down for being pop still had way controversial songs, so Atlantic records blackballed him,  he has to promote his own shit and still gets his songs on radio, IE. mission, old skool. it does suck he's not as popular but im glad he didnt sell out like kanye

  19. d.... c....

Not begging for views but i did a remix to this song. The only shit I actually have atm lol but anyway I'd appreciate any feedback I could get if you have the time. Was inspired by lupe for doing this song.

    d.... c....

    That's begging for views b

  20. C.... S....

Is Lupe throwing up the devil horns at 02:36? I hope not!

    C.... S....

    go fuck yourself

    C.... S....

LOL WHAT? You must be on some heavy drugs hallucinating like that lmao

    C.... S....

@w3lcomeSt4lk3rs Yes that's right, what about it?

  21. h.... ....

Diamonds are one of the greatest rip-offs of all time. Period.

  22. b.... v....

damn mr west did this beat justice but lupe hmm damn this motherfucker's wet

  23. P.... E....

Kanye West : Blood Diamonds same song

  24. T.... ....

I think adasand21 is looking at the fact that Lupe was the only one that got through. The controllers or rap will not allow a real message or good beat to get through. African Americans do not run the show now. That ended in 96. Like ICE T said in 96 TheRap Game is Hijacked. He was right. At least we have Lupe.

  25. M.... ....

    nothing wrong with weed ;)

  26. T.... ....

    Blood Diamond-Really good movie

  27. T.... ....

only rapper? Sorry but there are MANY rappers with substance in their music... just not on the radio. Like they say, Good music can't be found on the radio.

    T.... ....

Not compared to Lupe....Who in the mainstream produced what Lupe did I'll wait

  28. A.... ....

Actually he isn't, He may be the Best or at least one of them.

But go listen to Immoral Technique - harlem streets & Also his other music

    A.... ....

    Lupe top 3 underground included.

  29. t.... R....

Selling weed and prescriptions on the comments of a lupe track is bad Karma.
Take your shit to Lil Wayne New album for all of us.

  30. D.... Z....

he's definitely not the only one

  31. P.... O....

i fucked up i thought you were the guy who first commented, so i wasnt misinformed i was incorrect

  32. K.... ....

Can anyone tell me what movie the clip at 3:05 is from?

  33. P.... O....

You said that Lupe is the ONLY rapper with substance. And with that very short list I proved that statement wrong. I never said they rap about the exact same things as Lupe or have as much substance. I said they also have substance. And also, suck one for immediately assuming I listen to lil wayne and birdman just because I disagreed with your very misinformed comment

    P.... O....

You should be a expert on witch rapper means how much to who and how much they matter and how they said it and what they meant. You know more than the rapper that made the songs. You should call Lupe and tell him how much substance he should put in his new track. I'm sure your opinion will be a great help to him, and everyone in the comment section of you tube.

  34. R.... L....

You gotta know to be a hypocrite.

  35. S.... ....

there are many like him but we never see them on TV

    S.... ....

Yes there are heaps!! They make them in a huge factory in Australia. There really robots but you can't tell. Kanye West was made there!!

  36. P.... O....

talib kweli, mos def, black thought. BIG KRITTTT!!!!

  37. a.... ....

Thanks buddy, thats a great honor *sarcasm*

I know there are other people like lowkey, Immortal Technique etc, but Lupe is the only MSM musician.

Im sure you think 50 cent, lil wayne, birdman etc are very informative with their lyrics. Nonsense!

  38. P.... O....

hes not the only one you ignorant person

    P.... O....

Yes he is the only one, their is only one and one only. And im not ignorant I'm just very very smart and he is the only one.

  39. M.... ....

    FREE AFRICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. K.... 4....

    fuck all diamond dealers

  41. S.... ....

I meant Lupe and Kid Cudi wrote Kanyes raps

  42. S.... ....

Lupe and Kid Cudi were already on before Kanye signed them. Dame Dash took Kanye in and Jay-z took him from Dame Dash when they split up. he was already big after the College Dropout. Lupe Fiasco used to write for Kanye as well as Kid Cudi thats why he signs them.

    S.... ....

You know everything about everyone.Your like a big Hip Hop Dictionary and we are all very lucky to get your input here in the comment section of You Tube.

  43. s.... ....

They were well know but NEVER had the commercial success he has had. Common's career was all but dead before he made Be with West; that's something even he admits to.

  44. J.... C....

only lupe could use Kanye's beat and make a better song out of it

  45. R.... E....

    This isn't a lupe song.

  46. 6.... ....

Lupe is what cannibus dreamed to be

  47. L.... R....

what you talking about bitch? Mos Def and Common were in the industry way before kanye.

  48. a.... ....

Lupe should be the best rapper period. At least he is the only rapper that has some substance to his music.

  49. A.... ....

Difference is he is now aware so he can have the said pinky ring appraised and make sure that it's not a blood diamond prior to the purchase. He's not gonna hate on people for buying diamonds, but if you're aware of the problem you can make sure you don't contribute by making sure you buy legit diamonds.

  50. A.... B....

Don't forget the iPads, cellphones, rubber and countless other materials...

  51. A.... B....

    Yes. Very much so.

  52. D.... l....

kanye west is a copy cat

  53. S.... S....

Even so he still makes us people think on his lyrics and that aint a bad thing

  54. L.... ....

They're also being exploited for your Nike sneakers too.

  55. D.... ....

Its just another form of Slavery !
    A more evil one !

  56. Y.... M....

    Yes, it's worse now.

  57. t.... ....

Of course it still happens, it will never end. There are many safe guard like the Kimberly Process that certify the rough diamonds that are obtained but as you know its not a perfect system, not a perfect world.

  58. d.... ....

Fuck conflict diamonds !!! The people who are forced to mine them deserve so much more and the rebelion need to be sentenced to death by paper cuts !!!

  59. E.... H....

please do not characterize corporate greed with "america". european companies played a large role too. the kimberly process also banned most of the exploiatation. *most*

  60. T.... ....

"You know what I'm sayin', I ain't comin' down on nobody
You know what I'm sayin', I ain't tryin' to judge nobody
    Or nutin' like that
You know wat I'm sayin', I've lost to

I MIGHT GO AND BUY ME A PINKY RING TOMORROW
You know wat I'm sayin' but I just want you to see man"

Lupe, this is my least favorite of your songs because of these verses, and the hypocrisy they represent. You'll point out the problems they cause, but still just outright and say you're still going to buy them??? disappointed.

  61. T.... ....

But if they are willing to work those hours, for low pay, they're home country must friggin suck. Also, in order to hire someone, you need proof they're legal. (at least in america) So illegal immigrants are left with under the table jobs, or really undesirable ones. They aren't taking your jobs.

  62. V.... M....

So why then u insult me? Are u ok?

  63. V.... M....

For example u talk about corrupt African rulers, but when I said THE SAME u insulted me. If a foreigner says it its ok , but if a white does it u insult...r u racist? please explain your behaviour

  64. V.... M....

I think hate blurres your mind, and will make your next words less thoughtful & meaningful.

  65. V.... M....

Also in EU people (whites) work 12-14 hours a day, with no days off for more than a month,,,with very low wages.. Why ? because they are illegal whites. Meanwhile the legal whites dont get their jobs because businessmen take on the most convenient illegals. THATS WHY PEOPLE IN EU ARE AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, would not u be the same?

  66. t.... ....

I see you are from/live in West Africa. What are your thoughts on the rest of Africa (West/Central)? I agree that Africans need to wake up and stop electing corrupt leaders but the facts seem back up Lupe when it comes to western intervention. Military Ops from the West have been destabilizing the continent for years as that have done in South America and the middle east for decades. This opens the door for the corps. What are your thoughs on Gaddafi's Great Manmade River? Patrice Lumumba?

  67. K.... C....

so right on that, the song kill me BTW peeps use this to get this track on your ipod: bit.ly/17CxLdB?=rskqq

  68. K.... C....

so right on that, the song kill me BTW peeps use this to get this track on your ipod: bit.ly/17CxLdB?=rskqq

  69. A.... ....

@3:14 What Kanye video is that from?

  70. t.... t....

i even gave em to my girl thinking i was Cupid... smh..

  71. l.... ....

good morning, good afternoon and good evening.. yes :D

  72. J.... ....

    Yes lol

  73. t.... t....

!making paper was slave labor. homie nice

  74. Z.... ....

    Wake Up!

  75. .... ....

Kanye is way far down that ladder. Kanye would be lucky to even be near Lupe's level.

  76. M.... A....

Google "Democratic Republic of Congo war."

  77. M.... A....

All over the continent. Everyone mentions Sierra Leone, but conflict minerals come from many different countries in Africa. And just because a place isn't considered to be a conflict area that does not mean the conditions ok. In almost all cases the working conditions are atrocious. And this scenario isn't just limited to minerals. Basically, this is the other half of capitalism. We see the good, they suffer the bad.

    M.... A....

You should start your own African Education Classes. I'm sure your in site would help to stop the flow of diamonds coming out of the affected areas. Thanks heaps for your comment.

  78. H.... ....

I don't think his message matters

    H.... ....

I know just keep killing the little kids that get stolen from their parents to dig dirt for diamonds and just pretend like it doesn't really happen!! Nobody cares anyway!! It's just not important enough!! Your right!! It just doesn't matter!!

  79. E.... G....

Blame the bankers, goverments, cia, popolice...they want war to happen, they want poor and rich to exist, they want black and white to fight, they occupy us with bullshit jobs and other shit so we cant see how this world really works

    E.... G....

I know it's a huge conspiracy against us all!! They just brain wash us and we don't even know what were really doing. Look out for the Government agencies that are there to make sure we all keep fighting so that they keep getting rich and we keep working to get poor!! It's a big set up from the day your born. They know everything before it even happens because they plan it all.

  80. E.... ....

do you at least believe his message has gone from positive to negative over the years?

I make music for the living

  81. H.... ....

    I disagree with your opinion

  82. R.... B....

Blame the corrupt governments they have...Not america or europe...

  83. H.... ....

I said he made them popular

  84. b.... ....

uh mos def and common were doing their thing before kanye was even a factor..

  85. p.... ....

they indeed are, very unfortunate that americans dont know this and they are the ONLY one that can change their gvmnt.
    sigh

  86. B.... R....

    Illuminati at 0:40?

  87. H.... ....

Be was with G.O.O.D. Strictly looking at sales, Common had two albums go gold with G.O.O.D., and only one without (Like Water for Chocolate), Also two of his albums (Be and Finding Forever) with G.O.O.D. charted in six countries, and the same two albums also went 2 and 1, respectively, on the Billboard Albums Chart, and both went 1 on both the US Rap and R&B Charts. Clearly his biggest hits were with G.O.O.D.

  88. y.... ....

You realize the blood is the blood of children in Africa, forced into slavery at a young age under warlords. I'd rather take the "fake" diamond.

  89. y.... ....

Common had even bigger hits before G.O.O.D. Be (not sure if he had signed when Be dropped), Like Water For Chocolate, and whatever his 2nd album was, I get his first and his second confused a lot, but I know the 2nd was huge.

  90. H.... ....

Kanye first got big because he was the producer on The Blueprint, and Jay signed him to Roc Nation. So I'd say Kanye just reciprocated the help

  91. a.... d....

.... kanye was jay-z's ghost writer.... kanye helped jay-z

  92. E.... R....

mmmh, I think he needs to ...dumb it down!

  93. C.... V....

    Good song though. :)

  94. C.... V....

I wonder why people haven't caught on to the man made diamonds yet. Yeah, the thing that makes "real diamonds" better is being under the ground for 1000s of years, and the blood that goes into getting them out. Compared to a cheaper, harder, more beautiful stone that is much quicker to make, and the only time any blood gets on it is when the guy making it cuts his finger on the damn thing.

  95. H.... ....

being around is different from being introduced the mainstream. Both Common and Mos Def had hit albums under G.O.O.D.

  96. y.... ....

Honestly yes, Pac was overrated. He's the consensus best rapper of all time. Anyone who actually took a deeper listen knew he wasn't #1.

    y.... ....

Any real hip hop head knows that 2pac isn't the best Rapper, but he was one of the most influential, and he was more than just a Rapper. He was gifted in many different areas. 2pac is on a level of a John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, Jimmy Hendricks, Elvis Presley, he was a good Rapper but he wasn't number 1. There are a different bread of MC's that are more lyrically talented than the days of 2pac. But 2pac will forever be one of the greats of Hip Hop.

  97. y.... ....

Mighty Mos and Common have been around since forever. When Hip-Pop took over the mainstream, these guys were lost in the shuffle.

  98. M.... ....

Your right, i am sorry for posting that. i removed it.
