Lulu - The Man Who Sold The World Lyrics

We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise
I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone
A long, long time ago

Oh no, not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

I laughed and shook his hand
And made my way back home
I searched for form and land
For years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazely stare
At all the millions here
We must have died alone
A long, long time ago

Who knows? Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

Who knows? Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

Who knows? Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

Who knows? Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

  3. l.... d....

Magnification. ..no other word could possibly for it xxxx

  4. B.... H....

sounds like a tape and its dragging a bit

  5. B.... V....

So Midge Ure is actually doing a cover of this version?

    B.... V....

    Yes, Midge did a cover.
But this one is also a cover.
The original is from David Bowie.

    B.... V....

I know, but I'm saying his cover sounds more like this than David's original.

  6. s.... ....

    David Bowie = Big Boss
    Lulu = EVA
    Midge Ure = Venom Snake
    Kurt Cobain = Solid Snake

    s.... ....

    Yeah, pretty much. Haha.

  7. B.... K....

Pile of shit. Bowie should never be allowed in the same room as a saxaphone. Great fucking song though, truly great.

  8. T.... S....

    When somebody farts 💨 2:55

  9. u.... ....

    I love it !

  10. W.... I....

  15. M.... R....

My favourite all time song and I was just a kid whom I fell in love with this song especially when Lulu sang it 😍

  16. S.... ....

    Tô teacher with love.

  17. M.... C....

people took the piss out of this mecilessly when it came out, but I loved it to bits-both sexy and hypnotic.I'd just hit puberty and it just sounded so fucking sexy-Bowie on sax ?Fuck yeah !

  18. j.... s....

    SPOT ON..LUCKY BUGGER..TAKE THAT..

  19. I.... G....

Some magazine trying to say this version is better than Nirvana, I don't think so...

  20. M.... K....

when Lulu gets to about 120 and her looks and popularity start to fade she will be on breakfast time tv saying " och did a no tell ya aboot me and david and the strap on dildo!?"

  21. J.... W....

I remember as a 17 year old snotty yoof thinking this was awful. Who was this old woman singing my heros song? Turns out he was born over a year before her!

  22. J.... J....

WENT TO LULU ON FIRE AT MOTHERWELL THIS WEEK SHE ROCKED IT AT 70 AMAZING ARTIST.

  23. .... ....

    Они перепели Курта!?

  24. K.... S....

Only Bowie could fuck up a Lulu song.

  25. M.... D....

This Nirvana version is the best (its my opinion no hate plis)

    M.... D....

    Don't give your opinion then

    M.... D....

Im live in a free society for opinions and expression iam can give me opinion yes!

    M.... D....

@Minrilo Deep Brony just don't be surprised when some people give their opinions about your opinions. Such as hate.

  26. G.... J....

This message has been approved by David Bowie himself

  27. T.... Y....

Lulu was the Scottish Britney and I absolutely love her version of this song she took such a musical gamble by going in this different direction but it certainly payed off 😉

  28. P.... T....

I wasn't consuming Bowie albums when this came out, was more of a Slade fan and getting heavier, but this livened up Thursday nights well enough with the trademark production and Mick's sprinkling of magic in the arrangement. This *is* the original version to all intents and purposes. I never knew she was banging The Alien! Sounds like record company puff if you ask me, but stranger liaisons have existed (Kylie how could you :o)

  29. S.... R....

Jordis Unga did the best cover ever.

  30. G.... B....

One of the best cover versions of a Bowie song EVER! Funny to think her and David were an item during this period!

  31. P.... J....

    Lulu boat that I row

  32. P.... J....

The boat that I row lulu

  33. J.... T....

Wow this is ahead of its time tell me it shouldn't of came out in the 80s everyone only knows it for nirvana

  34. s.... ....

she really does need another job

  35. R.... R....

    It's crap

  36. E.... R....

    (6.2019)

  37. D.... B....

    rare Bond Deleted Title Song

  38. J.... R....

Great song reminds me of when I was young

  39. C.... L....

    Amo essa versão 😍

  40. g.... ....

1:51 - she mimes "I never lost control" when the song says "we never lost control"! But then again, who cares, this was Lulu's edgiest song, courtesy of Mr Bowie.

  41. j.... L....

    Double shot of odd...

  42. S.... S....

In my opinion the one by Midge Ure is better but an opinion is just an opinion.

    S.... S....

    I agree with you...

  43. R.... M....

    No mms q asco!

  44. A.... R....

    Belle cose

  45. J.... ....

    I'm coming nana

  46. U.... ....

Im afraid its been 9 years

  47. C.... N....

    Shite utter shite!!

    C.... N....

totally agree, she can't pull it off, bloody karaoke version

  48. M.... ....

    Check 'Bubbles' Version!!!

  49. J.... K....

what is original fucking song this is like that song "hallelujah" just endless copies

  50. P.... D....

    Embarrassing.

  51. D.... Z....

"I've worked with Lulu and three other people so you know we're talking creme del la creme"... Lol

  52. l.... d....

    Brilliant x

  53. j.... W....

So stylist and cool just like Bowie himself

  54. S.... T....

Bowie singing in a different key. It just works. He fkn KNEW he had a talent, was a star, all along. Even his doubts were likely mere hiccoughs of negative possibilities.... He KNEW!!

  55. D.... K....

That sax is amazing. This is one of lulus best tunes but you cant go wrong with a bit of Bowie especially when hes on backing vocals

  56. G.... D....

She was also known for singing the theme to 1974s the man with the golden gun

  57. S.... ....

Kazoo kid is that you ?

  58. J.... K....

i have to say.. the more i listen to this.. its becoming a better version compare to nirvana's.. but hands down nirvana's has the coolest vid

  59. L.... L....

I'm a huge Bowie fan, but I have to admit this version is way better than Bowie's. It really brings the song alive

  60. G.... J....

The irony of almost 10 percent down votes of a song written and arranged by Bowie on which he plays sax and sings backing vocals. Morons.

  61. T.... ....

I'm all for originals and i love this version as well... but Nirvana's cover crushes all others in popularity, chart success and sales. Kurt's haunting vocals + that particular period of time-period just gave the song more feeling/passion/emotion.

    #Seattle

  62. S.... M....

    Wee lulu

  63. S.... L....

    It's terrible.

  70. M.... I....

    Happy Birthday !

  71. s.... c....

B side of Life on Mars. Fantastic thanks

  72. T.... J....

So anyone still listening to this? Helllloooooo?

  73. T.... ....

So is this the original version? Or was there another recording before this?

  74. g.... R....

    Mike Garson piano?

  75. H.... G....

This version feels like something from an alternate timeline.

    H.... G....

It just might be. I played this a lot before I discovered that I was no longer on my "timeline." Along with millions of others.

    H.... G....

Did fringe bring you here, the bowie version obviously. Lol

  76. D.... A....

Decent, but the original by nirvana is much better. Thank you

    D.... A....

Dustin Allenby David Bowie original, look it up.

  77. B.... W....

Never heard of this. Dreadful. Here's some background, if anyone has interest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Who_Sold_the_World

  78. D.... ....

    Maravilha! Acabou com a Música!👏👏👏👏🙄🇧🇷

  79. K.... V....

What the hell does gazed a gazely stare mean

  80. t.... r....

    The worst version

  81. R.... W....

The best thing Lulu ever did by a distance.
And not surprising considering the Mainman Dream Team on the case. Bowie's deadpan BV is magical, and was that Mike Garson doing a piano roll on one of the bridges ?

  82. t.... r....

    Thunderbirds are GO.

  83. m.... ....

me cago en la puta de oros joder , está bien.

  84. J.... S....

    nice lulu

  85. W.... P....

    Mesmerising performance by Lulu.

    W.... P....

Cameraman couldn't keep up with her half the time so much energy

  86. A.... A....

The optimistic sound of this version is somehow creepy. I don't know why...

  87. K.... S....

    My favourite version....

  88. N.... H....

An absolute abomination yet strangely addictive

  89. E.... K....

    Nirvana better than this

  90. P.... F....

This version is good but no afence i think nirvana version was better.

  91. f.... ....

i love this version and Nirvana also.

  92. J.... R....

I don´t like this, even if Bowie is behind it. I hate when they do a cover and release it as one song in an album.

  93. e.... ....

    This is the best cover.
    https://youtu.be/40QSd6ZtZfk

  94. c.... s....

    absolutely lovely

  95. P.... ....

Lulu could always deliver a song brilliantly xx

  96. 0.... ....

Love 3 versions of this, Bowie, Nirvana and Lulu.

  97. e.... h....

Lulu does this better than Bowie, and Bowie's cover of sorrow was way better than the original by the mersey beats. I'm not usually a fan of cover versions but these two examples stand out with Mick Jagger's cover of the Chris Farlow song out of time bringing up the rear. And for the benefit of any Scots nats / Republicans on here Rule Britannia just for you clowns.

  98. S.... K....

Everyone arguing what is the best version and i lost in the space trying to guess what all those words mean

  99. S.... ....

Lulu did well when she recorded this song.
