Lucinda Williams - Little Darlin' Pal Of Mine Lyrics

My little darling, oh, how I love you
How I love you, none can tell
In your heart you love another
Little darling pal of mine

Many a day with you I've rambled
Happiest hours with you I've spent
Thought I had your heart forever
Now I find it's only lent

My little darling, oh, how I love you
How I love you, none can tell
In your heart you love another
Little darling pal of mine

Many a night while you lay sleeping
Dreaming of your amber skies
Was a poor girl broken-hearted
Listening to the winds that sigh

My little darling, oh, how I love you
How I love you, none can tell
In your heart you love another
Little darling pal of mine

Just three things that I wish for
It's my casket, shroud and grave
When I'm gone, don't weep for me
Just kiss those lips that you betrayed

My little darling, oh, how I love you
How I love you, none can tell
In your heart you love another
Little darling pal of mine

Lucinda Williams Little Darlin' Pal Of Mine Comments
  1. Timothy Robbins

I like this song so much, I wrote my own lyrics for it. My versions is happy, though. It recounts all the places my husband and I have lived and expresses my eagerness to follow him wherever life takes us. You can hear it on my channel. It's coupled with a poem inspired by the Stonewall riots. I know, an odd pairing. I like it that way.

So much beauty and sadness in such a simple little song.
