Lou Reed Disco Mystic Comments
Upon hearing The Bells for the first time it was Disco Mystic that shuddered me. If Stupid Man didn't disarm me enough, this song made sure of it.
I was 20yrs old and had been experimenting to very altered states. Punk came and I soaked up every band in the UK,US and Europe. Incredible bands made great records and Bowie,Eno and Iggy made landmark albums. Lou's legacy was there too and then he made The Bells. Those first few seconds of Disco Mystic were so heavy if you know what I mean. Sheer brilliance. What a song. What an album. Possibly my favourite just, in all of Lou's legacy.
One reason is the powerful impact it made at that time in my life. I was surrounded by brilliant recent releases by great artists, yet it seemed to be at least their equal, if not greater.
Gli sgo...gli sgommisti..gli sgo...mmisti ahahah AWESOME! The more it repeats the more it loses meaning and whatever...interesting nothing to say...it's an universal principle i think, in writing as in music and pretty much everything i think...radical abrasive approach...yet minimal. Keeping things minimal on the edge of demential, with nice build up through the song (tension build uo then release)...best hangover song too ahahah
Typical unpredictable Lou love this
Classic Lou....shared to the Netshows Radio "Program 117" Playlist on youtube
Sure Lou Reed had a laugh with this
Surprised this was never used in rap but it may have been and I just missed it
album filler at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.
Atlas King better than all the VU stuff tbh
Atlas King
Definitely. Still pretty groovy though.

tbh, you're outta your fucking mind...meaning you are wrong.
If you're looking for album filler check out all of Metal Machine Music. Disco Mystic was just part of the experimental thing Lou was doing for this album. If you go through his albums, Lou would do a commercial record and then an experimental/ non-radio friendly record and repeated that throughout his career.
Definitely Lou's greatest song ever.
I read this was actually a joke.
