If you like being counter productive then whatever. I can't change that and I don't feel like trying. But the mainstream stuff is everywhere I go and I've learned to hold a slight appreciation for some of it because it makes my life a lot easier. Now when a Justin Bieber or One Direction song comes on I take it for what it is- a silly pop song. If you want to tense up with hate every time you're in someone else's car or the mall or a club, then be my guest.

Telling people that hating the mainstream industry won't get you anywhere in life... won't get you anywhere in life, but you do it anyway. Not everything we do has to get us somewhere, it's counter productive and that's just how we like it. And the mainstream industry deserves our hate, they're beating a dead horse with that whole swag thing and it died faster than it came.

okay well i don't blame you for thinking that! but an ongoing trend in music video comments is to put down other artists just to get likes and i find it pretty distasteful. like if you go to any music video, there's probably a 1 out of 5 chance that the top comment will be about how much justin bieber sucks and how much attention he gets. also, i've learned that hating the mainstream industry won't get you anywhere in life.

And personally I disagree when you say the woman sounds as if she's "trying too hard". Although the accent does sound pretentious I wouldn't have said she sounds otherwise strained.

I simply wanted to point out that the reason this band will never be more than a small time British student cult act is because their music is musically snobby ('I never liked Henry Rollins....I never got my ears pierced and look how I turned out') and because they're complete contrived (look at the song name for christ's sake.)I'm simply saying that those 2 factors are why they'll never have more than a minuscule number of fans.

I never equated there minimal support with their fans opinions on music. Their opinions and tastes are their opinions and tastes. They're obviously musically discerning to be listening to this band instead of something awful like Westlife.

Aside from callign them snobby and contrived, you said that only 35 people really like them, and that this is because they aren't 'musically discerning' like yourself.

Those are critical opinions, but also insults; the terms aren't mutually exclusive. Neither of us like the band, I just don't understand why you need to be a dick about it. Do you want an argument that badly?

I'm not actually a big fan of the band, I just checked them out because Gruff from the Super Furries said they were good. They're not to my taste, but I'm sure their fans don't want to hear me spouting off about why I don't like them, so I don't.

Just because you love Henry Rollins so much (even though Greg Ginn was the talent in Black Flag) there's no need to be a dick to the fans of this band.

Funny, my main problem with the song was that people care more about the snobbish nature of the lyrics that the actual musical content, which is quite poor. Yet you've completely missed that and chose to attack me because, of course, I just don't get it....

I think what you miss is the fact that the song is mocking the music snobbery that you accused them of embodying. The songs about the underground saving us from "the underground".

Los Campesinos seem to inspire the calculated indifference of hipsters more than any band since the Arcade Fire. With that said, this is the most wonderful single I've heard all year.

To be honest mate its the snobbishness of this song that riles me.
