Wow, the last note of this song sounds EXACTLY like Crystal Gayle. Loretta Lynn, in my view, is one of the great american voices of all time. I just never realized how similar she and Crystal’s voices were. They are truly gifted. Plus I think Loretta’s gospel is her finest work.

Not just a lovely song, it is an experience all can have thanks to Jesus' sacrifice for our sin. Jesus said that because he went to the father he would ask the father and he would send the Holy Spirit to be with us and in US so at any moment of time if we are born again we can have this experience of personal communication with our heavenly father in the person of the Holy Spirit.

this song reminds me of my GMA... she used to sing and play hymns all the time, they played this song at her funeral... I'm not very religious and def. not a Christian, but I don't think you have to be in order to enjoy this song.. as it brings me to tears all the time.. Don't mind me just balling my eyes out..

Ronee Blakley did a perfect acapella version of this in Nashville. It made my spine tingle. The sad 'country star', playing a version of Loretta, was spot on! A short clip, uncluttered, soulful. Wish it was on the soundtrack.

A voice exuding belief and a face shadowed by doubt and pain. It's hard to imagine a performance that better shows why people without faith are can be attracted to gospel music. This is not an observation about Ms Lynn's beliefs, but only to say that the bridge she builds here is definitely not a Bridge to Nowhere.
