My sister sing this song many years and she won a contest back in 1971 or 72 very good memories and my sister's gone on to heaven now I miss her dearly.

This song would have been a godsend if I had this to play during my college days 1967 to 71.
That was the height of the god is dead poison spread by every radical group on campus.
Like the Viet Nam counter protest records which became our anthems in fights with the SDS, we could have sure used this great song.....

This song was written by Lawrence Reynolds of Mobile, Alabama. Reynolds also wrote IFJesus Was A Soul Man (1969) that was released before If God Is Dead. This version by Loretta Lynn is great and Vestal Goodman (of The Happy Goodmans) also recorded it several times throughout her gospel career.
