Loretta Lynn - Blue Eyed Kentucky Girl Lyrics
You left me for the bright lights of the town
A country boy set out to see the world
Remember when those city lights shine down
That big old moon shines on your Kentucky Girl
How bright is it shinin' in your world
Some morning when you wake up all alone
Just come on home to your Blue Kentucky Girl
Don't wait to bring great riches home to me
I need no diamond rings or fancy pearls
Just bring yourself, you're all I'll ever need
That's good enough for this Blue Kentucky Girl
I swear I love you by stars above you
Some morning when you wake up all alone
Just come on home to your Blue Kentucky Girl

Loretta Lynn Blue Eyed Kentucky Girl Comments
The banjo riff is one of the best parts of the song, along with the lyrics. Does anyone know who was playing the banjo on this song?
Love you Loretta love your beautiful country music
Written by Springfield, MO school janitor; Johnny Mullins. Harold Morrison on Banjo, and the legends game brought to you in living stereo sound. Loretta singing young and hungry here. Little sweet Shannon Marie Burns has been called to be an angel in God's choir. I miss my Angel Bear, my heartbeat. She left a hole where my heart used to beat. Your Denny.

For a moment or two forget the singer (I know., that is hard to do) and think about the words. It is often heard after a couple have split up "I will never take him (or her) back" Anyone who would say that, needs to listen to Loretta sing this song a couple of times.

Oh Yes Total Country Girl
I sing this to my daughters everynight..
Love Loretta, a woman from my home area in eastern Kentucky were I was born and raised. Johnson county Ky is where Butcher Hollow (aka Butcher Holler) is located. The hills are so beautiful back home.
And I say that this song was recorded out west most likely California. I recognize the west coast drumbeat where it is out in front of the timing made famous by Buck Owens.

No Body can sing like this woman... She was over the limit..What an amazing song as That's where I lived... I am the woman from Kentucky... Thanks Sweetie for sending me this song...
I so totally agree with you! I love many of Loretta's hits, but for sentimental reaons, this song is one of my all-time favourites!!!
Every time that I hear this I remember my first girl friend, Alice Douglas. Met her in Cleveland, Ohio. I'm 80 years old now and I have no idea where she is or if she is even still living, but I would sure like to see her just one more time.

About a month ago I had the worst toothache ever and was unable to sleep and pretty much crying hysterically non stop. I had a random playlist on in the background and when this song came up I somehow got calmer and slumped down on my pillow. Loretta's voice is so calming.
I agree though to be honest. her voice is very soothing
Okay too much information but it's the god to honest truth.

One time I had an ear ache when I was very young and I woke up in the middle of the night and got my dad and we laid on the floor in the living room and then he told me my dog Sandy was worried about me because she was whimpering so I laid my head on Sandy and her fur went inside my ear and made it feel better.
There now you aren't the only one to share personal information. feel better?
Haha honestly I'm not embarrassed of it. I just realized that yes, I overshared. But I just thought it was amazing that a song, someone's voice, could soothe pain and make people feel better 50 years after it was recorded. Her voice is magical.

I keep coming back to this song and scroll down to see our comments lol
This song fits Loretta so perfectly, it's hard to believe that she didn't write it. And, I sure wish I had a blue Kentucky girl asking me to come home to her! And, yes, I know that this was the title track on one of Emmylou Harris's albums. Emmylou's version is lovely, just like everything Emmylou sings, but, to my mind, this song will always belong to Loretta.
Interesting comment !!
+SpaceCowboyToo yes sir
Everytime I hear other sing this song me to thinks of Loretta Lynn first.
I like Emmylou Harris's version of this song better, but this one is good, too.
@boywonder0319 Emmylou Harris wouldn't have had a song to cover without Loretta's absolutely superb initial version of this song. Nobody can beat this singing champion!! I think that many people will agree with me on that statement.
+boywonder0319 you young whipper snapper!
I like Emmylou's version but I also like Loretta. I am a huge fan of both ladies but Loretta recorded it first probably 20 years before Emmylou. And Loretta is a Kentucky Girl.
This is my favorite of all of Loretta's songs. Her voice just fits the lyrics I feel. They really make you feel that you're waiting for your Kentucky guy. I am a Kentucky girl, too, so can identity with this one. Our Kentucky moon is like no other especially when it shines on the bluegrass here. Thank you for this treasure. - Paula
