Lord Huron - Emerald Star Lyrics
Here by the lake, what a vision you are
In the light of the emerald star
I've come for you, my love
Through a window in the dark
Don't you know you're my everything?
Was everything you said just a lie?
You never loved me
I came all the way through time and space
To take you away and out of this place
With the moonlight in your eyes
You're the brightest star in all of the sky
I'll cry and I'll cry if your light ever dies
Oh, what a jewel are you
For squandering my love
On an emerald in the sky
Way out here in the void
Is the loneliest place to die
When everything you loved is a lie
You never loved me
I came all the way through time and space
To take you away and out of this place
You're an emerald in the sky
You light up the night by blinkin' your eyes
I'll cry and I'll cry if your light ever dies

Lord Huron Emerald Star Comments
Beautiful, but very unknown in Germany
...come and Play Here, specially in Cologne.
Does anyone picturises every Lord Huron song in their head whenever they listen it???
I dont gotta picture it if it happens to me
@Tybear damn....are you alright?
Yes, because the story is way too familiar to me, and every song seems to have an atmosphere to it
I love this band but they are too happy and upbeat now 😭
Edit:not this song in particular, but the overall album. I love this song
This is my favorite song from them! Though I do love all those music
i went to a Lord Huron concert last night. and i heard this song for the first time. it was an acoustic type duet with the the female keyboard player (who’s name i can’t remember). it was such a beautiful song. their voices sounded so amazing together!
you are one blessed soul my love...i am still waiting for the day to hear them live
Have this tattooed on me , ugh I love then so much
i'll cry and i'll cry if your light ever dies
This heavily reminds me of the time I fell in love with someone, and ruined an already beautiful relationship because she didn't see me the way I saw her, and I unintentionally gave her a hard time for it. I am trying to redeem myself, and I am slowly making progress. I still think of her every now and then, hoping one day we could be together again in some way.
Outside of the music that plays at the start of Red Dead Redemption 2, I don't think I've lately heard another piece of music that works as audio shorthand for *This Isn't Going To End Well* as the start of this does.
Dat outro tho
Nayaka! This song is AMAZING
what a killer tune.
Best song on the album. They're so underrated
This song has been blocked from my country since its release. Thanks for letting me listen to it, Huron :')
Seeing as how both strange trails and vide noir are stories that are also connected to each other, I love how this song is completely in the dark stating how everything ended in the worst way possible and there is no hope whereas "night we met" had a bittersweet tone that signified hope. I hope this acts like trilogy where since this is the second in a storyline where everyone is in their darkest times and in the next album things will rise back up again. That would be cool ^^
You should take a look to their Genius lyrics. Vide Noir shows a new arch story and new characters, but we also get to see how they expand the lore (like the Ender and the Balancer!)
@MattSolid VA I actually think Vide Noir is the prequal to Strange Trails, maybe even Lonesome Dreams. He talks about his almost eternal rest in the void. He then returns to find his love.
I see it as a sad but freeing wake up call. To me it’s hopeful.
@Wave Child i think ends of the earth is tied in to back from the edge, Because what if they fell OFF the ends of the earth and fell into time and space, which is a metaphor for over dosing on vide noir. am i making sense?
@bryn adair Now that I listened to the entire “Lord Huron Album Trilogy” It seems that there are 3 levels of the story: one that could happen in real life, a folktale, and an urban legend, each corresponding with the album that was released chronologically with the level I listed each level. (Vide Noir is the only album where the the urban legend perspective of the story is found). Anyways, I actually believe overdosing on Vide Noir is a metaphor for encountering The World Ender or The Yawning Grave. It also might have something to do with the conflict In Fool For Love.
Here by the lake what a vision you are, in the light of the emerald star.
I've come for you my love, through a window in the dark.
Don't you know you're my everything?
If I lost you I think I would die.
Was everything you said, just a lie?
You never loved me.
I came all the way through time and space,
to take you away and out of this place.
With the moonlight in your eyes, you're the brightest star in all of the sky.
I'll cry and I'll cry if your light ever dies.
Oh what a jewel are you, and oh what I fool am I,
for squandering my love on an emerald in the sky.
Way out here in the void, is the loneliest place to die.
When everything you loved is a lie.
You never loved me.
I came all the way through time and space,
to take you away and out of this place.
You're an emerald in the sky, you light up the night by blinking your eyes.
I'll cry and I'll cry if your light ever dies.
"Here by the lake, quite a vision you are." *
