Local Natives - Out Getting Ribs Lyrics

Hate runs through my blood.
What matter are words in love,
but my heart always left above.
I've got you believe you now.
I thought I'd never be shut down,
but girl I'm black and blue,
so beaten down for you.
Well, I'm beaten down and blue.

Don't break away,
or waste away.
Don't break away.

Lay me out across the grey,
hours I should have kept at bay.
I had no chance to get away.
I can't escape my own mistakes.
Even more, it's sweet to the taste.
Red stairs lead sense astray,
I look up and see for faith.
But girl just lean over and say..

Lay me down,
and hear me out.
Save my crown,
she pushed me down.

But wait, I've made my last request.
See this could be the best,
but girl I need to rest.
Well I've been broken down.
So much I lost it now.
And I just want to say.
And I just sought to say.

Girl, don't you worry bout a thing.

I've been a fan of Local Natives way before i ever knew who King Krule was recently i've been listening to his music and i like it a lot i think Local Natives did a very nice cover to his song though i do think Krule's is better, obviously its his song. both are great.

  25. S.... S....

And people are arguing about which version is better. Congratulations.

  26. M.... G....

    to apaixonada

  27. S.... M....

This is shit compared to King krule

    S.... M....

I like them both. They're just different styles.

    S.... M....

+Stan Manderfield this is a king krule song tho ? sneak dissin ?

    S.... M....

@cosmotiggy nooooo never would diss my g archie;)

    S.... M....

+Stan Manderfield the thing is krule is more about his raw voice sound and local natives more about there harmonies. you need to look at it from two different points. you can enjoy both in a whole different way

  28. J.... ....

It's from a film called "The Turin Horse".
    Thanks for the love!

  29. J.... O....

Could you please share with this footage is from? Thank you for uploading such an amazing video.

    J.... O....

    The Turin Horse

  30. D.... C....

also they made the last verse longer, which is nice.

  31. D.... C....

krule does it better obviously, it's hissong. BUT this is a good local natives' song

  32. B.... R....

Alway wondered why people even dislike video's. Now I know.

  33. o.... L....

beautiful cover of King Krule's song Out Getting Ribs.

  34. U.... L....

What an awful cover, you ruined a genius song.

    U.... L....

    Uyên Lê brah

  35. e.... ....

People are so eager to shoot this bands cover before they even listen to the whole damn thing! Yes King Krules version will always be the best because HE wrote the fucking song!! But I honestly think that Local Natives added such a beautiful factor to this song, just the way everything sounds its so beautifully in sync thats it feels...cosmic. It takes you to another place and the way it picks up the pace in the last few seconds its absolutley beautiful. The original version is unique. His vocals, the guitar, its so imperfect that its perfect, it feels like im listening to a human soul (if that makes any sense xD) Point is both artist have different styles and clearly each style brings out something completely different from each other but equally as amazing. Now shut up and appreciate the goddamn music because thats whats important!!

  36. N.... N....

LN definitely put their own spin on it, and not in a bad way! it's just so different that it makes me really realize what i love about each artists' signature sounds. Krule's resonant jazz guitar riffs and profoundly poetic lyrics are offset by his starkly booming voice. LN, on the other hand, use melodic chords for a more ambient feel, with a few riffs for definition. their vocals fit their sound in that they are laid-back and feel at ease. Although Krule's original still wins me over, LN did this song justice by bringing in their own elements to the song.

  37. j.... ....

They definitely did this song justice. King Krule's version is disjointed and off-putting, in an amazing way. And this, it's just easier flowing and in true Local Natives style, full of perfect harmonies.

  38. N.... J....

Honestly I believe local natives did this song justice. King Krule's voice in my opinion isn't the greatest. So when the local natives gave this song a go they added great vocal harmonies. Just an opinion though.

  39. n.... ....

I'm sorry that i dont get why people are so against Local Natives covering this. I heard this version before King Krule's original, so maybe that has a lot to do with it, but i think both are beautiful.

  40. a.... ....

Local Natives definitely do well with covers, this being no exception; sorry to the butthurt King Krule fans.

    a.... ....

@allmediareviews.blogspot.com I am a King Krule fan, and I think this cover is amazing! Why can't people enjoy both for what they are? King Krule made a timeless song and Local Natives made an amazing tribute to it. I love it all.

  41. P.... D....

All the people hating on the comments, shit. I think they did a fantastic job covering the song, it sounds great. You hipster dipshits know nothing.

  42. P.... ....

    Where is this footage from?

    P.... ....

It's from a film called "The Turin Horse"
Sorry this is 10 months late

    P.... ....

No problem friend! Glad I finally got my answer.

  43. M.... K....

Hey Shelton you douche ......... Your a bright one are you ..... Did you just class all indie rock in one category. What you said is actually what they did. The 2 bands couldn't be further apart style wise...... Like I already said ........listen and like it or shut the fuck up before you say something completely useless again

  44. M.... K....

Wow you guys are fucked right. The band loves King Krule so they cover a song out of respect for him for US and now you have a problem with it ...... Listen to the song and either like it or shut the fuck up

  45. b.... ....

Local Natives just posted this on facebook :)

    b.... ....

Hey thanks for that comment. I don't have a Facebook, and I would have never known they liked it!

  46. F.... M....

Only King Krule can do this properly.

    F.... M....

eh, to each his own this song is perfect.

    F.... M....

    @Kayla Wilson no.

    F.... M....

Exactly why I said to each his own :)

    F.... M....

    + Kayla Wilson 👍

    F.... M....

    I like this better

  47. C.... P....

one of the best covers of this song *

  48. w.... r....

This song compliments the original. I would love local natives to cover my music if I ever made any

  49. R.... ....

Fuck you guys that think Local Natives "shit on this song." It's a cover, which means it's THEIR rendition of King Krule's song. Chill out and enjoy the music, if not then listen to the original which is completely fine also. Don't throw shit at another artist's style just because you personally don't like it.

    R.... ....

This. And it honestly isn't even bad, just different.

    R.... ....

Well said ....... Rip on that Shelton douche

  50. L.... ....

I honestly think that this is the only cover of this song that I will ever enjoy. Both King Krule and Local Natives are extremely talented, they are just two different genres which results in that disconnect that you were talking about. And if you think that this version of it does not show emotion, I think you are wrong. It expresses a different emotion than King Krule's original.

    L.... ....

there both the same genre indie but are on two different sides of the spectrum they are different sub genres of indie for sure

    L.... ....

king krule is like new age jaz with a grunge like aproach and local natives is like a rural feel good band with certain songs as exeptions like mt Washington

  51. A.... T....

love this cover. huge fan of both king krule and local natives. i really don't see how they are "taking away" from the emotions of the song, just because it's a different rendition.

  52. D.... J....

Who the fuck do these kids think they are shitting on this song? The vibes are dead in this version.

    D.... J....

    I disagree I think it's better

  53. p.... b....

this fucking shit is slightly disrespectful

    p.... b....

how so? it seems more like a sign of musical respect, local natives are clearly fans of krule's song.

    p.... b....

@Cal Patterson I like how they are fans of King Krule's music and I like local natives...they've got some good tracks, like the song ceilings from their itunes session is good. But they are, in fact, an indie pop band and they're sound reflects that. I think that them covering this song takes the lyrics out of context because they have such strong emotions and now they are just turned into a rhythm for a indie pop song, you know its like the emotions that made the song out getting ribs so good are non-existent in this song... so that is why I say it is disrespectful.

    p.... b....

I feel you. I was kinda surprised when i saw they did a cover of it, especially an 'itunes session'. I agree, the original is so much better. Good publicity for King Krule either way though I guess.

    p.... b....

Yea it is shows how good music is still alive and its cool cause he is getting buzz of  this shit which is really good for him

    p.... b....

    @peter boye
i'm sorry but, you cant just say Local Natives are on style of music, in this case Indie Pop, they have a lot more elements than just Indie Pop, putting Indie infront of rock and pop is just lazy... now dont get me wrong on this next part i love King Krule, out getting ribs was the first song i heard from him in 2013 (or so) and i fell in love with that song.... but that beats my point, what im saying is that this isnt disrespect full, this is a sign of how much Local Natives love King Krule and the song, this is their version of the song, and that is the beauty of music, there are no rules... they took his song, and made into their own style, which is MUCH better than them just making a cover that sounds completely like the orginal song, you'll get nothing from that.... nothing about this is disrespectfull.... music is art, just as you can see a mening in poem thats different from what another person sees in as the meaning in the poem, is that same for music.
