Lloyd Cole - Hey Rusty Lyrics
Hey Rusty
It's a long time
Remember
It's like yesterday
Stealing cigarettes
Down the boulevards
Then I got a job
White collar
Turn coat
And you just spun around and walked
Said we wouldn't meet again
Hey Rusty don't hang up
I feel so young
Because we're still young
I just need one friend
She said hey
Don't take it so bad
She said hey
It wasn't so much
We just ran out of gas
Or something like that
That's when I
I crashed my car
Not by chance
And not out of love
Then I walked out of that job
You should've seen their faces
Hey Rusty don't hang up
I just need one friend
And we're not finished yet
No way
Hey Rusty
I changed my mind
What d'you say we start again
No, I mean it this time
Stealing cigarettes
And laughing as they chase us
Down the boulevards

Nice video to a nice song 🙂
Melancholic regret. We can't go back, but sometimes we sure wish we could.

one of his best ! and he has many great tunes…. imho
One of my favourite LC songs too. I was 17 when this came out and it really struck a chord with me. Of course, back then I didn't really appreciate some of the lyrics but the sentiment I got. Now I look back, at the ripe old age of 43, and I feel even more nostalgic than usual.
What a great song, many thanks for posting
shame about the christian adverts, i find them offensive personally.

Wow! Suddenly remembered how much I liked Lloyd Cole's music in the 80s. Have got the first three albums on vinyl but haven't played them for years. Had the urge to listen to some tonight and found this wonderful track. A very poignant bow to nostalgia and looking back on those innocent times that have been taken over by life's responsibilities and commitments as we get older. Brilliant to hear it again and thanks very much for posting it.
