Live - The Dam At Otter Creek Lyrics

when all that's left to do is
reflect on what's been done
this is where sadness breaths
the sadness of everyone

just like when the guys
built the dam at otter creek
and all the water backed up
deep enough to dive

we took the dead man in sheets to the river
flanked by love
deep enough to dive
deep enough to dive
be here now

we took him there and three
in a stretcher made from trees
that had passed in the storm
leave the hearse behind
to leave the curse be here now

Live The Dam At Otter Creek Comments
  1. C.... T....

Does anyone have the full lyrics?

  2. D.... R....

I grew up playing at Indian Steps and swimming in Otter Creek. One of the most calming and beautiful places in Pennsylvania.

  3. D.... N....

90s! The worse song on this album is when you forget to hit replay on the cd player. This is one of the "hidden" gems on this killer CD.

  4. T.... D....

So much goddamn chaos going on in this song

  5. D.... ....

I had an out of body, meditative experience during the height of this song. Music is powerful, and this album is no exception. A masterpiece start to end. And yes, a gorgeous concept album.

    D.... ....

    They are called DEMONS

  6. v.... ....

It sounds like demons banging heads together. Makes me SICK

  8. c.... m....

Damn this was epic as hell, great start to a classic album that sold massive and turned live into a huge international success. Sad there hardly known now.

  9. r.... ....

Loved this time of my life, great album and tune. Music back then was awesome. So many albums came out that I could listen to straight thru and mot skip a track. Throwing copper is definietly on of them. Always thought the radio releases from this album were good, but the weakest tracks from this album. God/Jesus bless and save all that read this.

  10. N.... ....

This will always be my favorite Album. Was gifted the cassette, and my ex cut it up because she heard satan when we reverse tracked the tape on a track I don't remember the title of anymore haha! Was one of those rare albums you could listen to all the way to the end.

    In The Army Now

  21. p.... ....

Yeah I just love the slow, ominous guitar-- what would you call it, drone??-- in the beginning, with the distant echoing voices. Can anyone else think of other songs-- rock or otherwise-- with that same effect?? But yeah, definitely one of the better songs on the album that got lost among the singles, and a great kick-off to one of the best albums in the 90's.

  22. V.... S....

Hard to find this song on you tube ! Thank you !!!

  23. K.... P....

    2017, still glorious.

  37. I.... S....

    Be here now.

  38. C.... ....

My opinion, this is one the last great rock concept albums. It was designed to be consumed from start to finish. Not in bits.

    C.... ....

That sir is whats missing from music these days, the album. Instead we have I tunes and auto tune and no soul, or pacenice to listen

  39. N.... ....

    God what an album.

  40. G.... P....

A biblical story in the form of a poem dressed in rock sound

  42. S.... C....

If it weren't for this band I'd have given up on the genre of Rock in the 90's. What a gift alt was to us all.

    S.... C....

what the fuck are you talking about? 90s had the best rock music since the 70s.
for instance alice in chains or temple of the dog.

  43. l.... ....

Live used to be really good. They're terrible now.

  44. U.... m....

I used to get real drunk and turn down the lights and fall asleep to this song.........and wake up to it also.

  45. C.... T....

I'm here because I used to listen to this album as a 14 year old and really dug this shit.. this album and mental jewelry still holds up pretty strong.. but the dolphins are crying about the rest of Live's career

  46. K.... ....

I will always remember sitting outside with you on the deck of your dad's coffee shop in the cold for hours, talking and holding each other. always. RIP Danica. you are missed. I wish I could have gone to see you before you left us.

    K.... ....

KannabosmHealerOfNations. in this world, we're born alone, and we die alone. but that doesn't mean we have to live alone, friend. I'm sorry for your loss, my condolences

    -Chris

  47. Y.... S....

My dad was at a karaoke bar, and he was way too into this song, and he was just fucking *screaming* so loud that another guy had to punch him in the fucking face to get him to stop

    Y.... S....

    "Things that never happened"

    Y.... S....

  49. N.... B....

This album brought me in a trance when I was a teenager and listened to it a lot. Brings back a lot of happy memories. Underrated band if you ask me.

  50. L.... M....

Dynamically Monstrous! So much of their material is. Where Fishes Go, Voodoo Lady, Operation Spirit.

  51. T.... ....

One Of My All Time Favorite Albums This Is Probably My Second Favorite Song On It .. I Love This Whole Album But I Think White Discussion Is The Best On This Album.

    c.... ....

My Goodness. Its been about 20 years (1997) when my car was broken in and my CD collection including Throwing Copper was taken. Haven't heard this track since then, but memories all came flooding back just listening to it now. I also have White Discussion as my personal favourite, but this is a gem too

  57. S.... o....

    Yes! Just perfect!

  58. J.... B....

This song says it all.....If I go down flanked in love...I'm going down good.

  59. d.... ....

I think i'd be the only amongst my peers who thought this was the bomb track of the album. Which made me feel like the guy from the Live song 'FREAKS' video! back in the 90's. Alot of people dont like this song, go ask people and play it. A lot will hate it!

    d.... ....

+dannymac322 This is one of the better songs that these guys have done.

  60. T.... M....

Can't believe how under rated this song is

    an underrated song.
    this is beautiful.

  65. G.... ....

    Throwing copper is bæ

  66. G.... ....

Oh this song takes me back, my mother was and still is a 90's music consumer. At the time I was in pre k. I don't know how I remember this. But we would always listen to pop stations on the radio and she was tired of it, she wanted to listen to some of her root. And one of her favorite albums was this one, live throwing copper. She showed me the cover art of the cd. And for whatever reason I got scared of it and started crying. But she insisted we listen to it on the way to school. When we put the cd in and was scared and anxious to hear what came out of those speakers. And to my surprise. The best song I've ever heard, and still is my favorite song and album of all time. The dam at otter creek

  88. J.... ....

Thanks for posting this entire album! I own it, but sometimes it is just easier to YouTube a song, artist, or album than actually take the time to open iTunes or put the CD in. Cheers and thanks again!

  98. D.... T....

@AdventuresOfManTV Did that happen before or after this song was made? Is this song about him? They are singing about a drowning among other things.
