Little Feat - Somebody's Leavin' Lyrics
Tell me somebody
What was it like when you saw your whole life go under?
Did you cry?
Was there someone there or were you on your own
Why can't two people
Just being here is lonely
So why don't you just give me a chance to come into your life
Did you hear me when I told you I loved you
Forgetting what you might not know
Somebody's leavin' tonight
Somebody's leavin' tonight
So why don't you let me take you down to old mexico
Where you can dream, none so sweet as dream I have of holding you
Did you hear me when I told you I loved you
I've tried so many ways just to tell you
But you left me here jus to hold my own
And I know that you been hurting, 'cause I been hurtin' too
Somebody's leavin' tonight
Somebody's leavin' tonight

Little Feat Somebody's Leavin' Comments
wild song
In 1988 I was in college at The Ohio State University. Little Feat released "Let It Roll" album, and came to Columbus to perform. In my calculus class was John Call from The Pure Prairie League. He was just bored, and looking to keep himself busy, so he decided to take a calculus class. Anyways, he got me back stage to meet Little Feat! Bill Payne was just the coolest person you'd ever meet. And to top it off, he got me Craig Fuller's Little Feat sweatshirt that he wore the night of the show. Great memories.
so i was in college at OSU '73-'76, but THE SHOW was 1975 at tiny Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware and Little Feat opened for Bonnie Raitt. I have a backstage story too....moroccos and qualaades and lowell....go bucks OH-IO
just an incredible song
Bill Payne's best. So haunting.
Talk about underrated bands........every member of the band is a phenom. Live shows were the BEST.
Lovely.
"Mr. Bill Payne..."
I tend to romanticise about this. The song is about leaving, I suppose Mexico is a symbol of that departure. The nature of other songs on the cd talk about days in to nights sorries in to fights. Obviously the back drop is about shady goings on across the
border that climaxes in this song. Yeah the seventies were good weren't they?
i am not the only person that KNOWS how GREAT this song IS!
no , you are not.
One of their best .4:23 on so funky.
You said it bro, just that slide when it slides in....it takes it to the crescendo....
All I say is: Damn
Agree with the sentiments expressed here. An absolute slow build stunning song with sublime musicianship. It just doesn't get better than this. All the musicians give a masterful lesson in playing for the song and listening to each other. There's to many beautiful details to list here but when the slide guitar enters around 4' OMG. This almost relegats The Band to my second favourite group!
One of my favorite little feat numbers, introduced to me by my old man, rest his soul...great number.
all little feat are my favorite's.
The sum is the whole of its parts. Those parts were pretty fucking magnificent. IMHO this was the greatest record ever pressed. I echo Bonnie Raitt's sentiments: "I miss Little Feat more than I miss being 5 years old." RIP Lowell and Richie. You are both terribly missed.
It doesn't get much better than this.
just being here is lonely-kind of sums it all up
My all time favorite song by any artist. Shame really but I've only heard one other version from the eldorado slim collection. It doesn't seem to lend itself to live performance or at least in my experience. I would love it if someone has a live version and could post it.
Amazing
Great tune...dynamics!!! Thanks.
bought this album new, still have and listen to t still, favorite song off of it . Lowell George miss you so much .
