Little Feat - New Delhi Freight Train Lyrics

Some people think that I must be crazy
But my real name is just Jesse James
An I left them half-crocked, hard-knocks of black rock county
Just to ride on that New Delhi Train
Ridin on that New Delhi Freight Train
Ridin down that New Delhi Line
Ridin on that New Delhi Freight Train
Well I left my love behind
Yeah I left my love behind
Yeah I'm just a country boy without angels
Ahhh just a country boy without gold
An I been to silver cities load of rainbows
Where I pillaged and I killed and I stole
Ridin on that New Delhi Freight Train
Ridin down that New Delhi Line
Ridin on that New Delhi Freight Train
Well I left my life behind
Yeah I left my life behind
Then I killed a man named smilin Jordan (Jeer-dun)
Yeah I killed him with one of my guns
And I knew that I had did what I had not ought to
But I welcomed the run from what I'd done
Ridin on that New Delhi Freight Train
Ridin down that New Delhi Line
Ridin on that New Delhi Freight Train
Well I left my guns behind
Yeah I left my guns behind
[Repeat]

Just love the Little Feat. No one can truly replace Lowell. His genius shines through all those incredible songs. Like "China White", it's not just the song, it's what he puts into it. I heard he counts rythem to the 64th beat, as a guitar player, sometimes you have to have a better sense of rythem than the drummer. But, if you do, you need a new drummer.

Thank you for posting. Let me add my voice to the others, it's just one of the great Little Feat songs. There are so many. Regret for a misspent life. I just start listening to it and play it over and over again.

Texan Terry Allen wrote this song. This is good but the best version is by Lubbock's Maines Bros. Band

The first time I heard this was waiting for a Ted Nugent concert to begin in 1977 in the old Cleveland Stadium. While the roadies were getting the stage ready for The Nuge to play; this played about 3 times (along with a bunch of other tunes in between). GREAT SONG...ahhh, the memories...

Saw them with Bonnie Raitt as the opener in Jackson Miss. in 1977. One of the best shows of my life and I have seen a lot of concerts over these many years. Bonnie and Lowell George played a couple of songs during her set and then Bonnie came on and did a 30 minute Encore with Little Feat. Dueling Slide Guitars galore.

  27. e.... ....

I had "Time Loves A Hero" in the truck years ago and whenever I played it, other people wanted to know who made the record. It was grownup rock, or just simply music from the seventies. There'll never be another Lowell George. God bless him.
