Little Feat - Hangin' On To The Good Times Lyrics

Hey old friend, it's been such a long time
Since I saw your smilin' face pressed against my window pane
Though it's the middle of the night
And we were racin' the light of the mornin'
All those new thoughts dawnin'
About the wrong and the right
We spent our money so fine
The girls were standing in line
Every other night
Was always the same
Paradise without any shame

We'd stay up all night
Tryin' to find just the right rhymes
And we were fightin' the good fight
Hangin' on to the good times

Jaunita she's a little bit older now
Spotcheck Billy looks just the same
Three card monte on the boulevard
With mirrors on his shoes

And I just have to laugh
When I recall the time down in New Orleans
Don't ya know
Rained us out of an indoor show
We spent our money so fine
The girls were standin' in line
Down in the quarters at lucky Pierre's
A time of our life without any cares

We'd stay up all night
Tryin' to find just the right rhymes
And we were fightin' the good fight
Hangin' on to the good times

Yes old friend we had some times
And later on the moon declined
To shine its light so benevolently
It's grace withheld from our company
And though we went our own ways
We couldn't escape from where we came
So we find ourselves back at the table again
Tellin' stories of survivors and friends

We'd stay up all night
Tryin' to find just the right rhymes
And we were fightin' the good fight
Hangin' on to the good times
Up all night
Tryin' to find just the right rhymes
And we were fightin' the good fight
Hangin' on to the good times
Up all night
Tryin' to find just the right rhymes
And we were fightin' the good fight
Hangin' on to the good times

No disrespect intended to the person that only has two cassette tapes of Little Feat , ""what we have here is a failure to communicate"" (famous one liner from the prison warden to Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke).. you either live in Antarctica where your off the grid of a radio signal or you are mentally musically challenged or you 20 or less years old because anybody that was around in the 70's when Lowell George was the front man vocals knows Little Feat , in the 80's after the passing of the legend Lowell when Paul B. (slide guitarist) moved to the lead vocals) , 90's where they were still pumping out great music & touring.. I've had the pleasure to see them live 5 times in small intimate venues where I discovered Richie Hayward (Feat drummer) , I've been playing drums 35 years & I know super talent when I see it & R. Hayward was very under rated yet was one of the absolute best of the best in the drumming world.. His passing away from Hep. C left the drumming world in a vacuum... My older sister turned me on to the "Feat" when Lowell was still alive , I still have super great concert pictures of them in the 70's , which led me to get my own pictures of the live in concert , I have pictures done with my Samsung 140mm zoom taken from the first row that produced Rolling Stone quality pictures which is exactly who purchased them for $126K !!! If you want to get you feet wet with the best of Little Feat you need two releases from the for starters & they are as follows.. 1) TIME LOVES A HERO , 2) WAITING FOR COL. (that was a live release .. many people say that they like studio versions better than live , a true musician is just the opposite because in a studio mistakes can be cut out & rerecorded , but shows recorded live either shows how tight a band really is or how truly crappy a band truly is.. There are no room mistakes ""not saying they don't happen because they do) the difference in a good band & a great band is the ability to cover up any mistake a band may make without anybody even noticing the mistake... People have seen more Millie Vinelli concerts than they know such as me personally catching Kiss , Talking Heads & Kansas lip syncing , all 3 of those make major screw ups & I'm talking MAJOR SCREWUPS .. Kansas walked off the stage with the same music still playing thru the speakers in Oxford MS on the Audio Visions tour.. that was well before Millie Vennli was even hatched so I ask you , who ""really"" lip synced first ?? It's probably a tie between Talking Heads & Kansas...

Kinda sounds like old Jackson Brown to me. I only have 2 cassettes of Little Feat and no player. In my oppion thats when the Good music was made, during the cassette era.
