This, of course, sounds extremely rude and disrespectful to one of the “godfathers of punk rock” (although I do not consider this group’s contribution to punk rock to be significant compared to “New York Dolls and Death”), but the cover of California Sun from the Dictators piece of shit.
And what Ramones did 2 years later on his Leave Home masterpiece album (this is my favorite album in general) is the greatest cover ever.
Ramones is the best debut album in history, Leave Home is the best album in history, Rocket To Russia is more a masterpiece than all the other records that were before and after, and Ramones is the greatset and most influential group in history (even more than The Beatles), whose genius of songs and the incredible power of live performances no one ever repeats.
I am not going to soften my remarks in order to please the ignorant public, putting on the work of dozens of other bands (such as real diamonds like The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Jimi Hendrix, and spawning like Pink Floyd, Van Halen and Guns'n'Roses. ) over the brilliant Queens freaks, who call the fathers of punk rock a commercial fan called Sex Pistols and deny the fact that all the music after 1976 borrows the innovative elements of Ramones.
Because it's true. Ramones are the greatest.
The Ramones were among my teenage heroes. Everyone else was listening to America, Chicago, The Little River Band, etc. I was cranking The Ramones!
