Linda Ronstadt - Willin' Lyrics

I been warped by the rain, driven by the snow
I'm drunk and dirty, don't you know
But I'm still willin'

Out on the road late last night
I'd see my pretty Alice in every headlight
Alice, Dallas Alice

And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonopah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
Driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me weed, whites and wine
And you show me a sign
And I'll be willin' to be movin'

And I've been kicked by the wind, robbed by the sleet
Had my head stove in but I'm still on my feet
And I'm still willin'

And I smuggled some smokes and folks from Mexico
Baked by the sun every time I go to Mexico
Ah but I'm still...

And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonopah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
Driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me weed, whites and wine
And you show me a sign
And I'll be willin' to be movin'

  3. F.... H....

Original is by Lowell George and Little Feat, but Linda's version is very good as is everything she sang.

  4. J.... M....

I think the black crowes did this song the best. Just my opinion

  5. J.... H....

  14. C.... A....

The original is a great tune but, as always, Linda just takes it to another level completely. Her band refines the arrangement brilliantly and Linda sharpens the melody to the bone with her incredible voice.

  15. J.... M....

I love Linda's voice and music, and I think she does Willin better than anyone I've ever heard.

    J.... M....

Great cover of a great little feat song. Excellent band behind linda here too.

  28. c.... ....

I wish I could see her live. She is one of my favorite singers of all time. She could do no wrong with that voice.

  29. M.... ....

Truly one of the greatest trucking songs of all time. Perfectly captured a decade. How Lowell George was able to come up with this I don't know. He was never a trucker. I only guess he knew a lot of them.

  30. G.... D....

i really have driven every rig that's ever been made..

  31. N.... G....

  35. b.... g....

None better than Linda. Been a fan, since day one

  36. L.... R....

I was blessed to have seen her play live, way back in 1977 with The EAGLES and JACKSON BROWNE for my very first concert. I still have my ticket stub, and I will NEVER forget that day. I was 16, it was outdoor, and I think we were probably 100 yards(if that) from the stage. She is the QUEEN of rock and roll, and it truly saddens me that her wonderful, gorgeous singing voice has been silenced! She will live on forever, and there will NEVER be another LINDA RONSTADT! Thank you for the beautiful music and those awesome vocal chords! We love you Linda.

    L.... R....

    How i agree with u!
I saw her sing willin' at the tribute concert for Lowell George in 1979, i was 18. Maybe i was only Japanese there. Now i live in italy but i won't forget that marvellous night at Forum, los angeles.

  37. R.... W....

    fabulous!

  38. D.... C....

The first time I ever heard this song was while watching The Abyss. Thanks James Cameron.

  41. 7.... ....

Ah ,what a voice. I pray for her, that we'll hear it again, as we say, "here, there or in the air."

  42. M.... H....

The first guitrar solo.....maybe Andrew Gold.....

  43. b.... H....

    That's not the eagles

  44. S.... M....

  46. M.... ....

Oh my gosh, this is insanely good

  47. s.... s....

Lowell George. Linda and Lowell He had the words She has the voice

  48. s.... ....

One of the greats; could sing different genres with ease coupled with a beautiful voice.

  49. d.... ....

How I have adored her music! the quintessential country singer who could sing anything. And no one was more beautiful. Not so sure about her political persuasions... :-)

  50. B.... A....

To think this union began spontaneously. Most of the Eagles began as studio musicians playing behind Linda.  The studio supervisor asked all the boys to stick around.  They formed the Eagles.

  51. L.... E....

    Beautifully done by a master!

  52. R.... W....

The movie the abyss sent me👍🏻😎

  53. m.... ....

God bless you all.. Fred and Webb Meeth, your beautiful cousin deidra... good times so long ago..

  54. S.... D....

Interesting about the orig. artist. Lowell George wrote it. Sea Train Recorded it. THEN Little Feat recorded it. Then a year later Lowell George joined Little Feat. The original recording by Sea Train was the best one IMO.

    S.... D....

Steven D'Mused , you were doing fine until you stated Lowell George joined Little Feat a year later... Lowell George founded Little Feat. He couldn’t play slide guitar on first album die to broken arm but he sure on it...

    S.... D....

Steven D'Mused . Who the fuck cares about Sea train. They didn’t do Lowell George no justice until Linda recorded it. Lowell was having a big payday with his fat royalty check. Linda is every songwriters dream. Go watch the Sea train vid if you have a hard on for that piece of shit.

  55. S.... H....

Weed , whites and wine , been there.

  56. a.... k....

Sung exactly the way Lowell George intended.

  57. T.... H....

I had never seen this but really , really like it especially with the nice steel guitar 🎸🎸🎸

  58. W.... R....

    Love Linda.

  59. c.... f....

Jesus h Christ that there is a perfect example of a woman. Don’t make em like this anymore stunning in every way. Thanks Linda ❤️

  65. A.... S....

What key are they playing in?

  66. D.... G....

tell me is there a better song ?

    D.... G....

    Blue bayou.

  67. J.... W....

Linda's voice....that powerful, tender, boisterous, gentle voice. She could use it to give an almost un-feelable caress, a gentle slap, or a full-blown knuckle sandwich right to your nose. This is control, timing, and above all, that magical thing called "touch". Thank God for recordings such as this. She will live forever.

  68. s.... ....

    Wow. Just wow.

  69. W.... P....

    Lowell you're still willing!

  70. n.... ....

    “Weed, whites and wine”.
    Trucking and touring.
    A new city every night
    On the road
    .
    The trucker
    The heroin addict (“Carmelita”)
    The Hobo (“Trio”)
The Game Player (“Hasten Down the Wind”)
    The Played (“You’re No Good”)
The Devastated (“Down So Low,” “Love Has No Pride” “Desperado” etc etc )

Her pure and powerful tone, yes, but the vulnerability and sadness she conveyed spoke of a deep empathy for the listener who might relate to the pain she expressed so beautifully in song. Like you had a friend who understood and was with you.
You were held by the tenderness in her voice.
And for me, that was a tremendous gift at a very lonely time.
God Bless You, Ms Ronstadt. Your fans truly love and cherish you.

  77. E.... D....

Linda singing lowell george is really fantastic. Beautiful pacing in this version, such a talented singer. Not many modern singers are as pleasant.

The late-great Kenny Edwards on bass and vocals.....

  80. B.... S....

A great Lowell George song sung by the incredibly gifted Linda Ronstadt. Doesn't get much better than this. The original version was recorded on Little Feat's first album. The version most people are familiar with is this one (sung by Lowell George and backed by Little Feat) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNqv85coyTw

  81. C.... S....

Glorious and natural. THE warmth, clarity and strength of Ronstadt's voice is still stunning.
