Glad that classic-rocker Ronstadt was such an early supporter of Elvis costello. She understood his talent, & skill, ( & Lennon, & of course McCartney understood. ) most classic-rockers, ( David Lee Roth, "Van Halen." Eddie Money. ) Couldn't see it.
Awesome song, just too damned short. Ronstadt and Costello share this song as well as Allison.
Girls Talk and Party Girl as well.
Costello himself said Ronstadt's version of "Alison" kept "petrol in the tour bus" for a few years.
It has a good emotional wallop to it. Nicely done.
Although you may be correct yet is Devo's version of Satisfaction not as good as the Stones they are different interpations enjoy all music
Devo's version is vastly superior.
Elvis C.'s original version is MUCH better.
BlueEyes 1970 and he was not quiet about his dismay of Linda’s covers of his songs. He blasted her in interviews. Still, I like this one on it’s own merit.

I think I read somewhere that he felt she had not interpreted them successfully or failed to bring meaning to them. I remember thinking that his criticisms, at the time, were a bit poser-ish. I would like terri gross to ask him about it.
