Linda Ronstadt - Lose Again Lyrics

Save me
Free me
From my heart this time
Well the train's gone
Down the track and I'm
I'm left behind

But nothing can save me from this ball and chain
I've made up my mind I would leave today
But you're keeping me going I know it's insane
'Cause I'll love you and lose again

Well the heart calls
And the mind obeys
Oh it knows better than me baby
And if I hold on for one more day
Oh maybe maybe he'll be true

But nothing can save me from this ball and chain
I've made up my mind I would leave today
But you're keeping me going I know it's insane
'Cause I'll love you and lose again

Nothing can save me from this ball and chain
I've made up my mind I would leave today
But you're keeping me going I know it's insane
'Cause I'll love you and lose again
Woah I'll love you and lose again

70’s were my preteen & teen years, the years I discovered music. Linda, Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac, Diana Ross, The Carpenters, Donna Summer & other great female singers, I loved along with Wings, Steve Miller Band, and so many others. I saw Linda in concert at the Worcester Centrum on her Get Closer tour. Great show, great singer. I still listen to her regularly in my car. “Ooh Baby Baby”, “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me”, “The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress”, “Someone To Lay Down Beside”, “I Can’t Let Go” are a few of my favorites by Linda. Parkinson’s took her voice from us but we’ll have it forever thanks to her recordings. ❤️

  11. L.... L....

From where did that voice come?

    L.... L....

I see her exhale, but not inhale!

  12. L.... G....

Wow !!! Perfection in every way. ❤ #lindaronstadt yall need to go see her documentary #TheSoundOfMyVoice 📺🍿👍🎤

  13. K.... S....

Just Brilliant, as always, Beautiful woman, Beautiful song, her best back up band ever. She was the one, no automated help needed. Just pure heart in every song.

  14. W.... E....

    Extraordinary!

  15. r.... ....

    You are watching GREATNESS!

  16. 7.... G....

    WADDY!!!! 🤗
Nailed it as always Linda! ❤️

  17. G.... S....

Saw this as part of the new documentary The Sound of my Voice....phenomenal, a must see for anyone who loves beautiful music.

  18. H.... ....

If you closely watch this video, you'll notice that Linda Ronstadt keeps her eyes closed during
    most of the song

  19. J.... W....

This is the real deal!!! She's amazing💖💓🤗💕

  20. M.... ....

who can sing like that today? no one!

  21. I.... F....

Linda Ronstadt is why I was born a decade late☹️.

  22. J.... M....

She nails this song with her beautiful voice. She had it all, like Elvis.

  23. B.... C....

Pure magic and pure Linda, thank you for being a part of my musical youth and the present.

  24. J.... W....

There are arguments for others being considered greater singers but there is no question this is the greatest voice in the history of pop music. Anybody who heard it live knows it was simultaneously the most powerful AND the most beautiful voice ever recorded.

  25. c.... ....

One of my faves along Someone To Lay Down Beside Me

  26. S.... S....

Nobody can touch Linda w this. One of my favorites. Dusty Springfield did a beautiful version live in concert, but this is Linda’s song. She sings it perfectly.

  27. J.... D....

Hey all you Ronstadt fans, go listen to Karla Bonoff the author of this song sing it, I defy you to not get hooked on her songs and her renditions of them

    J.... D....

JDubbiyou, I did, and you're right! Just ordered my first Karla Bonhoff CD and watched a Bryndle video yesterday! Heard Ms. Ronstadt say in a 1982 interview that she hoped to record an album of all Karla Bonhoff tunes. She was a fan, too!

  28. R.... L....

    Perfection!

  29. L.... N....

She always recorded live!! that’s a super talent..now she recorded so very many takes as the perfectionist she is!!!!! good for her....i can watch this 500 times in a row :)

  30. M.... J....

In one take, can anyone sound this great without help...No one's voice is as beautiful

    M.... J....

one take....she was such a perfectionist. This was probably the 25th take of the song! who cares right...it is still one take? i guess

  31. A.... J....

I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO NAME ME ANOTHER SINGER/ENTERTAINER OF ANY ERA, MAN OR WOMEN, WHO COULD MATCH LINDA'S TALENT. WHO ELSE CONCURRED FOLK, COUNTRY ROCK, ROCK, AMERICAN STANDARDS, OPERA AND MARIACHE? CAN'T DO IT CAN YOU? NUFF SAID LINDA RONSTADT WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THEE BEST OF ALL TIMES IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. 😀😁😂😃😄😅😆😉😊😎😍

  32. K.... S....

She was just the best,,,,,,period, all her, nothing else, with the best of her bands

  33. C.... ....

Still, her voice touches the core of my senses.

  34. M.... c....

    best song!!

  35. W.... P....

Once Linda got enough records made to attract wonderful people, it was basically heaven. Andrew Gold working with Linda, Waddy Watchel, the regulars and the guest appearances by people on her albums are still basically unsurpassed by any other artist. Still, she was always totally humble about it. The music came first and always does with Linda.

  36. B.... L....

Whole lotta genius going on here.

  37. E.... K....

I don't remember what this song sounded like on vinyl, because this was one of the few albums of hers that I didn't own. But, I just went and listened to several versions of it on this site that seem to imply they're the originals, and they're all pretty-heavy on the reverb. That's unusual, because not only wasn't it typically done on her recordings, but it was often used as a trick to cover-up flaws in a vocal, and she certainly didn't need that (long before auto-tune was another way to get there). Anyway, I saw her at least twice in live concerts, and she sounded just like she did on the studio recordings--something I really enjoy(ed) in a musician. Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, and Gordon Lightfoot could pretty-much do the same, but a lot of others couldn't or didn't. (To be fair and accurate, I think the quality-talent of their backing bands also deserves a great deal of credit for making the live performances so good).

  38. E.... K....

I guess it's funny (odd) that I consider the loss of HER voice to Parkinson's disease to be such a personal loss to ME--since she's the one who is actually suffering the effects. Even if she didn't choose to record anymore, I'd like to think she could sing to herself as the audience, alone in her house whenever she wanted to, and still hear that marvelous voice echoing back at her. I guess it's also sort of funny as being a double-edged side-effect about the fact that Americans are living longer these days. Whereas a lot of people used to die of heart attacks, etc, by the age of 65, now we're living longer and are forced to see the effects of those extended years as they take their slow-but-steady toll on the mind and body. (You know, then there's Tony Bennett, but I'm thinking that has to be a case of clean living combined with some very-good genes!). Really though, I know the loss of Linda's voice really is a personal one to me, in the sense that over the decades I often had her music and voice to serenade me through the good times and bad, and in that was she was 'present' in my life. In the way that recording artists can do, the situation seems an almost one-on-one relationship because of that sort of thing. Just in case that might sound like I have the makings of a stalker, though, it's totally out of the question. I never even wrote her as much as a fan letter. I DID clap and 'hoot' at her concerts, though--guilty as charged in that regard.

    E.... K....

Didn't think that all about you, Edward. Appreciated your thoughtful, empathetic, and insightful comments. And I'm sure you hooted and clapped at all the right moments.

  39. M.... V....

I first played this song for someone by the writer of Lose Again, Karla Bonoff, who had never heard of her. She was blown away by the song and singing, saying how can anyone perform this better? Than I played her this version by Linda Rondstadt...She was speechless. One of the best live performances I've ever heard.

  40. B.... L....

Some passion and power in her pipes. Believe her heart was exposed to us through her voice. HAD us at "Save Me..."

  41. D.... ....

she just sings so great around other voices...all trying to mesh with hers.. but hers are far superior... sublime.. love you linda

  42. P.... ....

Wonderful see this video again and complete. thanks

  43. V.... &....

Her pitch is always on the edge, held firm and delivered so,powerfully. A true singer.

  44. K.... S....

This was always her best band, Kenny Edwards, Andrew Gold, Dan Dugmore, Linda, always the best ever, just pure.

  45. M.... B....

Such sophistication, the most gorgeous rock n roll torch voice in history, Andrew Gold and the boys in the 70's knew how special she was, those 70's albums had some adult rock n roll that will never come again. The hardest working voice of my generation...

    M.... B....

@Trucker Kev The Paid Tourist I said and the boys, but don't get cocky, Andrew Gold – guitar, percussion, piano, drums, keyboards, electric piano, tambourine, ukulele, background vocals. Andrew has a gorgeous voice, it's crisp and clean, and records so well, I love that voice..... yes, and Peter Asher too... I know my Linda Ronstadt...

    M.... B....

no I wasn't getting cocky I was just making a point. you want to be a d-bag about it I'm just going to withdraw my fucking comment

  46. O.... P....

Believe on the name of Jesus Christ and thy shalt be saved thru FAITH!

  47. C.... G....

Perfection, inspiration and chilling. I just love her voice, always.

  48. M.... B....

    Stunning.

  49. J.... V....

Great album, just picked it up in a VV store in Toronto for 2 bucks

  50. B.... N....

If Linda's life is ever made into a film. Well she has already recorded the soundtrack.

    B.... N....

    It was.

    B.... N....

    ...for her life and OURS!

  51. R.... d....

    I love her so much.

  52. G.... P....

One of her absolute best. She shows off her vocal range perfectly

  53. p.... ....

karla bonoff's original version also top notch

  54. M.... D....

Linda was the best looking and voice of all of them all besides Anne and Nancy Wilson. Those are the best 3 female singers from my era.

  55. R.... G....

What’s great about you tube is I can go back in time to my teenage/young adult years and discover any great music I missed. Dam, how in the world did I ignore Linda Ronstadt through high school. For me, it was all about Zeppelin, Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc. I knew Linda was hitting super stardom but it was hard rock or nothing. Now that I’m in my 50s, my musical genre has expanded a lot more. I have to kick myself in the ass to not listen to Linda and attending her concerts. But I did like the Eagles and Jackson Browne at that time. It was close, but no way compare to Linda. Now I can catch up, thanks to you tube and google.

    R.... G....

probably because other than your no-good she was mainly AM radio the most of the stuff for us rockers was on the FM we didn't really listen to the light rock stations back in the day so it's kind of easy to store to oversee some of her stuff.. she had lots of radio stuff but remember a lot of it was top 40 a.m. stuff so that's probably why..
but nothing we get older big and stuff that we never paid any attention to got to love YouTube it's like having the most amazing music system at your fingertips

    R.... G....

I feel your pain, Ron! I was a "soft rocker" back then and just had Linda's greatest hits album, and her Nelson Riddle ones. Torture to read all the comments on YouTube testifying to the fact that she was even better live. More tortured to think she was probably only miles away performing, while I was up in my room doing nothing! But you are right, Ron, YouTube has given a chance for the next best thing...videos like this!

  56. G.... P....

That angelic voice.....could listen to her forever. There will never be another.

  57. B.... D....

Have not heard this version before.
Thank you for posting. Fell in love with her with Heart Like a Wheel.

  58. 7.... ....

    Her voice melts my heart.

  59. T.... A....

    🌹👍🎼

  60. K.... R....

    I'll love you forever.

  61. M.... H....

Linda Ronstadt. The greatest, most soul piercing singer of my generation. I saw her at a concert at Capital Center Maryland 1977. One of the most incredible performances I ever witnessed. Pure mastery of lyrics, melody, the whole package. She will always live in my memory. She was and is "The Voice".

  62. P.... R....

Absolutely gorgeous. What an amazing voice she had.

  63. i.... l....

I hope this shows up on Linda's Live in Hollywood album.

  64. j.... s....

Wonderful vocal and down through the years you have to thank her for bringing some lesser known talents to the fore; here it's Karla Bonoff.

  65. G.... L....

Queen of her scene. Great singer, great pipes - a songwriter's dream.

  66. D.... B....

There's never been anyone who comes close to Linda's extreme talent. Anything she sang could easily become a masterpiece & she was pure...she was the very Best. Such power in her unique voice. Linda is everything natural & real.

  67. P.... 1....

God, what a voice Linda had. Pure talent...no need for autotuning, backup "dancers", pyrotechnics, none of that crap...just a pure voice backed up by some of the best musicians. So glad that I was able to see her live shows when she was in her prime. Real shame that Parkinsons has robbed her and us of her talents. Today's little pop tarts can't hold a candle to Linda's voice and range.

  68. A.... ....

Pure voice.Pure talent. Pure beauty. Simple and true.

  69. M.... F....

One of a kind. Unequalled. Damn I love her voice.

  70. k.... n....

Ann Wilson 1 and Linda 1A. Best women vocalists in country, rock you name it, they can sing it.

  71. R.... A....

Linda is not only gorgeous! She was one of the greatest artist in my time. A voice that you Will always remember. Still nowadays i love listening to her amazing songs! 🎼🎧🎶

  72. S.... F....

WHEW, that is some powerful sorrow. Outstanding singer telling Her story.

  73. e.... p....

one of many of her Best. We love you Linda. Stay strong

  74. R.... M....

one of my favorite songs, and I've never seen this before. Linda Ronstadt, Andrew Gold, Peter Asher, Val Garay, Dan Dugmore, Kenny Edwards, Michael Botts. What a talented group of people.

  75. e.... w....

    Honestly....is there anything better?

  76. S.... H....

Whitney and Mariah and Christina and Linda too! Celine? I guess it's a taste thing.

    S.... H....

Not even the same, Linda made music, she was a total artist. It was about the song. The others made records for commercial consumption, and their talents pale in comparison to the gals in the 70s. Linda, Donna, Barbra, Karen, etc...

  77. M.... ....

Real music made by real musicians.

  78. S.... S....

Gorgeous and pure. Different from the album - she would open her shows with this killer tune written for Linda by Karla B. Wild how RONSTADT still has stalkers and trolls to this day " Her critics should be flogged"

  79. J.... P....

I am so profoundly sad !! This song kills me as i am having a hard time dealing with losing my sweet beautiful daughter!!! Such a beautiful old song Linda! She died Dec23,17

    J.... P....

    Jennifer Puhl ⚘

    J.... P....

@Ken Rex Thank you!! Her birthday was Feb 1st.. she would have been 32

    J.... P....

    🙏☮

  80. H.... C....

HASTEN DOWN THE WIND, this opening tune, the tour, the bands , her 1976/77 Vibe - Linda at her most sublime - for many of us we remain devoted.

  81. T.... W....

This is probably my least favorite of her albums but seeing her sing this tells me its time to revisit. Seeing this makes me think she probably could have recorded any song in just one take, such talent!

  82. d.... ....

besides being one of the best singers of all time she had the sexiest front teeth and lips ever!!!

  83. e.... w....

If your whole record collection consisted of either Linda Ronstadt or those who played on her songs, you'd have one damn good record collection.

    e.... w....

I am working on it, and doing well going to second hand vinyl stores and vinyl fairs.

    e.... w....

Her tastes were so eclectic and she sang so well in so many styles, it would be quite a vast collection. You’d never get tired.

    e.... w....

Starting with the eagles and finishing with Van halen

  84. M.... W....

She's my favorite gal singer bar NONE!

  85. C.... R....

So glad we have these videos to keep the magic alive. Andrew Gold, a talent lost way too early. And Linda, well there are just not the words to properly say how much you are loved.

  86. s.... ....

i'm in total awe, and absolutely speechless...

  87. L.... m....

...but I love you and lose again...had this on vinyl back in the 70's...wore this track out...headphones...closed eyes and Panama Red...hang in there Linda...we love you

  88. l.... g....

She is breathtaking. Saw her in 1983. What an amazing talent

  89. j.... C....

Linda, as I sit here I have 3 of my favorite LPs next to me, ""What's New", "Lush Life" and "Living in The USA"; my other favorite the album with "Stoney End" on it was on eight track and wore totally out around 1982. The title songs, "Stoney End" and "What's New" are two of my favorite recordings by anyone; Bob Crosby would've hired you to record "What's New" with his band if you'd been around back then. Best wishes always, Jeff.

  90. P.... C....

I listen to this often, it still brings shivers. Her voice will never be still, within my soul.

  91. s.... K....

No "offense" and his father before "him".

  92. s.... K....

I guess "Jerry" is just a " basic" idiot. Look at California.

  93. H.... ....

Love this woman's voice and music since the 70's, never get tired of listening!!!!! Thank you to Youtube and technology!!!

  94. K.... S....

    Linda, simply the best

  95. m.... ....

  96. H.... ....

Can't think of but one voice that can compete with this wonderful gift...Martina Mcbride!! Listening over and over!!!

    H.... ....

now depending on when you catch her I also would have to say Alison Krauss to she could belt with the best too. she has a great dynamic range also

  97. b.... w....

Class, pay attention! This IS a voice, this is what a singer is.

  98. D.... ....

Saw her in concert a couple of times in the 70's and she sounded as good or better in person than on the records.

  99. M.... S....

JD motherfuckin souther I'm so jealous of you.
