Linda Ronstadt - Heat Wave Lyrics

Whenever I'm with him
Something inside
Starts to burning
And I'm filled with desire
Could it be the devil in me
Or is this the way love's supposed to be

It's like a heat wave
Burning in my heart
Can't keep from crying
It's tearing me apart

Whenever he calls my name
Soft, low, sweet and plain
I feel, yeah yeah
Well I feel that burning flame
Has high blood pressure got a hold on me
Or is this the way love's supposed to be

It's like a heat wave
Burning in my heart
Can't keep from crying
It's tearing me apart

Sometimes I stare into space
Tears all over my face
I can't explain it
Don't understand it
I hadn't ever felt like this before
Now that funny feeling has me amazed
I Don't know what to do
My head's in a haze

It's like a heat wave
Burning in my heart
Can't keep from crying
It's tearing me apart

Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah oh oh (heat wave)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
oh (heat wave)

Don't pass up this chance
This time it's true romance
Heat wave
Heat wave
Heat wave
Oooh heat wave

Let's not forget the late Andrew Gold in this and other Ronstadt songs....he contributed acoustic/electric guitars, the drums, hand clapped,  And, along with Kenny Edwards (Stone Poneys), who played bass, provided the blistering background vocals in this real toe-tapper..Remember: Andrew Gold.

  39. R.... M....

I never knew she re-made this song. I only looked it up b/c someone who is White was absolutely convinced that she made it, and look at this... boy When White People kept us from reading they should've taken advantage of it while we weren't. The problem is we were forced to learn their culture and the downfall of them will be the fact that they never learned ours.

  40. D.... ....

  70. P.... L....

    Excellent

  71. M.... S....

Anyone 1977 remembers this southern Cal. so uninhibited strength of her voice with a at time unknown cover. Back up band splendid. Great for us that was the Ronstadt era.

  72. D.... W....

Martha and the Vandellas original in More American Graffiti was awesome! But I prefer Linda Ronstadt's.

  73. J.... J....

Linda was also blessed with some of the greatest session musicians on many of her songs.

  74. G.... M....

That drummer was kicking ass on this great recording.

  75. a.... ....

    GODDAMN THIS TAKES ME BACK......

  76. R.... D....

I saw Miss Linda at Rutgers University when I was a teenager. What a voice, what talent.....

  77. J.... B....

Not many people realize that Andrew Gold played every instrument in the song heatwave and gave backing vocals, that guy was a super talented musician and song writer He and Linda made an unbeatable duo!

    J.... B....

One guy did an the other tracks.. That's cool to know.

    J.... B....

andrew gold was hardly a 'lonely boy' that week

    J.... B....

Andrew Gold was an amazing talent....his guitar and backing vocals on this tune and so many others made this a hit....take him outa this song and you got nothing...

  78. W.... P....

Not only was this a torrid single, this LP may be arguably one of Lindas' finest. "Prisoner In Disguise" If you have not listened to it (1975) give it a try. It's either her best album or close to it.

    W.... P....

I agree! There is not a track on this album that is not excellent!

  79. S.... P....

    Electrifying Linda!!!

  80. B.... ....

Anybody know what album the picture is from?

    B.... ....

"Simple Dreams" was the album the picture is from.

  93. B.... M....

A brother & sister act----"Rod  & Caroline" sang at our Airmen's Club @ RAF Bentwaters, England----I requested it over and over She was great !!!!!!  That was 65--67/

  94. j.... s....

doing this song was a concession to her musicians and producer. The band wanted her to do it but she never would until one night at a Long Island club named My Fathers Place, we recieved six encores. We'd run out of tunes. One of us yelled out Heatwave in D and we did it. We were awfully sloppy, but the crowd really liked it. there are only two musicians oon the recording Andrew gold and Kenny Edwards. the electric guitars and acoustic ones were dubed in later along with the piano, percussion and synthesizer.

  95. J.... A....

Billboard Vol. 87 No. 46 November 15, 1975 Hot 100 singles listed Linda Ronstadt, Heat Wave #5. The song is included in the recording artist ten of the Billboard top 10. It is from the platinum album Prisoner in Disguise that listed on Billboard album chart at number 4 and country album chart at number 2.

  96. D.... W....

Cryin' shame that Parkinson's robbed Linda, and us, of her singin' voice!
