Linda Ronstadt - Faithless Love Lyrics

Faithless love like a river flows
Raindrops falling on a broken rose
Down in some valley where nobody goes
And the night blows in like the cold dark wind
Faithless love like a river flows

Faithless love where did I go wrong
Was it telling stories in a heartbreak song
Where nobody's right and nobody was wrong
Faithless love will find you
And the misery entwine you
Faithless love where did I go wrong

Well I guess I'm standing in the hall of broken dreams
That's the way it sometimes goes
Whenever a new love never turns out like it seems
It's the feeling comes and goes

Faithless love like a river flows
Like raindrops falling on a broken rose
Down in some valley where nobody goes
Faithless love has found me
Thrown its chilly arms around me
Faithless love like a river flows

Linda Ronstadt Faithless Love Comments
  1. F.... C....

I know it's been said before, but can't be understated, it's sad that Linda and Glenn never hooked up on this song, it would have been magical, guaranteed Grammy for sure. Both singers will never be forgotten.

  2. d.... m....

just plain talent , there can only be one... LINDA

  3. W.... ....

I saw her in 1974 when she toured with Neil Young , and her back-up band was the nucleus that became the Eagles. She was just an absolute sensation and I'll never forget it . Thank you Linda.

  4. T.... H....

Kenny Edwards on banjo and backing vocals. He was with Linda from " The Stone Pony's " onward.

  5. e.... ....

Immense range. Folk, Rock, Operatic in Pirates of Penzance - she hits amazingly high notes - obvious in this version of Faithless Love. Saw her at Universal Studios Amphitheater in the early 80's. Tiny person in a cubscout suit.. opened her mouth and infiltrated every atom of this big space with her amazing voice and her beautiful presence. Love that she will always be a part of the music of my wonder years and beyond.

  6. D.... L....

II know there are so many more.....

  7. D.... L....

I wish somehow new and upcoming singers had to listen to the Linda Ronstadts, the Carly Simons, the Carole Kings , and Karen Carpenter that we’re so pure and powerful. ( I know about Carpenters overdubs) but her voice was generational. No auto tune....

  8. P.... L....

someone said her voice is "big as a house" Just love Linda

  9. b.... p....

    Love the woman, bless her...

  10. c.... ....

    Effortless

  11. C.... S....

Linda has Venus unaspected by any planets showing a singular purity of voice that will return.

  12. C.... S....

Knocks you back with a voice and heart of gold. GORGEOUS singing.

  13. S.... H....

A beautiful song sung by a fabulous singer with a great stage presence. Thanks for this video of one of the greatest singing artists of the past 50 years.

  14. S.... J....

    Greatest voice ever.

  15. K.... B....

Just simply a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice.

  16. R.... J....

Linda has always had the voice of an angel with the beauty to go along with it. Too bad she had no good sense with men dating Gov. Jerry Brown, the liberal idiot of California

  17. B.... D....

Have so many of her albums. I grew up listening to her, and still get lost in her voice. So sad her voice was taken from her because of Parkinson's. Makes all her songs even more priceless!

  18. s.... h....

    How wonderfull is this???

  19. m.... ....

    and she's just a kid ;-)

  20. C.... S....

Who is singing harmony with her? I believe JD Souther wrote the song and often sang with her, but not sure who it is here...

  21. D.... F....

    Happy birthday, Linda!

  22. C.... C....

Cynthia Sue Corcoran opraetta 🦁🐎🎥 I'm OPRAetta.

  23. M.... ....

    The queen PERIOD

  24. E.... D....

1977 is peak Ronstadt. A wonderful singer, and this material was her best stuff. Little bit of country, straightforward execution, top-notch band. Doesn't get any better than this!

  25. S.... M....

    OMG !!!

  26. C.... S....

    Sublime.

  27. L.... P....

I consider myself fortunate to have seen her perform in the 70s when she gave a concert at Ravinia in Chicago.
Also, It is most difficult not to associate the lyrics of a love song with Linda, who brings those lyrics to life.

  28. A.... J....

The ABSOLUTE perfect combination of talent , beauty ,graciousness , humblness. She was my fantasy of what I wanted in a girlfriend as I'm sure every red blooded young man.

  29. D.... ....

so simple sad and pure...she owns every song she sings....I'd like to be this microphone.. for a lifetime...

  30. t.... ....

    Angelic

  31. t.... ....

The Ronstadt vibrato was the envy of many singers.

  32. s.... b....

Nice! Love this ❤️ live version 😍!!

  33. D.... L....

One of my fav Linda Ronstadt tunes....

  34. R.... M....

So incredible in so many genres, and classy to boot.

  35. S.... R....

Kids take note, this is how it's REALLY done. You don't need a flashy backdrop, annoying dancers, ridiculous wardrobe, or autotune. All you need is talent, a great song, good musicians.Just open your mouth and sing from the heart! Linda was phenomenal! You believed she lived everything she sang about. I think Faithless Love was the best song she ever did. And that's saying something, because she had so many truly great recordings. Thank you Linda and John David for a priceless piece of music!

  36. m.... ....

    Voice of an angel.

  37. H.... C....

Crystal clear. Such a fine voice - we wanted to protect her from the bad guys. Only girl singer for many.

  38. R.... P....

So beautiful. Her voice, and the soul she puts into the song. Just wonderful.

  39. K.... S....

Every song, she made her own, such a gift, Songwriters Champion

  40. T.... S....

I was 16 when this concert was taped. Linda Ronstadt's songs are so part of me, and this just brings me right down memory lane, and make me so glad I was a teen in those days of excellent music.

  41. R.... A....

Gorgeous stuff. It is heartbreak at its best. I always believed her.

  42. J.... V....

I saw Linda at the Wheeling (WV) Civic Center on this same tour in the summer of '77. As I sat in the fifth row when she sang this song, I swear we made ear contact. My life was complete at that moment. Linda was one of the most beautiful voices of her era, but always seemed so shy on stage. Some people thought she was aloof. I think she just wanted to get the songs right. And she always did! I think the snobbish, so-called Rock & Roll HOF shunned her for so long because she sang so many cover versions of some real classics. But in my opinion, her cover versions were as good as, if not better than the originals. You cannot dispute her amazing talent and her high stature in the music industry of that era. Linda's perfect voice is with us forever in the wonderful recordings.

  43. t.... ....

For my money, one of the greatest songs ever written, at any time, in any genre, anywhere, any time. Just listen to the way JD Souther wrote the achingly beautiful bridge to this melody, it will tear your heart out. And sung by Ronstadt while still in her prime... well, it just doesn't get any better.

  44. Y.... ....

Who sings harmony and plays the banjo?

    Y.... ....

Youarenotyourthoughts the late great Kenny Edwards, her original bandmate in the Stone Ponys😀

    Y.... ....

@Adrian Canales Thnk you; that guy is richly talented. . Did he play piano on "Someone to lay down beside me" in Linda's live version?

  45. r.... s....

I don't need maoney never had it anyway i need love

  46. r.... s....

Tied of the tarred brick road*

  47. C.... ....

I love this song and even better live than on the record.

  48. d.... p....

This is real music!! Not like that shit they call music today

  49. C.... A....

Incredible , few artists can match the power of this womans voice.

  50. m.... ....

So true. Love this song! Her voice is the best! Thank you!

  51. J.... P....

Love this song, Believe Me, should be treasure!

  52. S.... K....

I know this by heart I listened to it so many times. Played it and was thoroughly in love with Linda. And I'm not gay. lol She was a force to be reckoned with vocally. Still is. She had this kind and endearing quality to her precise perfectly tuned voice and always always sings from the heart.

    S.... K....

God Bless, you must be from the south. I am not gay either, but still share your appreciation for the talent and beauty of the one and only Linda Rondstadt

  53. C.... S....

I can't imagine this song without the haunting banjo. So moving it still makes me want to cry. That river flows without end as time slows down to nothing.

  54. C.... S....

I remember hearing Linda sing this song and it would bring tears to my eyes... and it still does. Oh, my. Thanks for posting.

  55. I.... B....

Proof positive that today’s music SUCKS. It’s NOT music, nobody writes lyrics, nobody sings, nobody plays. Anybody’s dog can hit a knob, flip a switch, make some noises - and that’s what passes for “music” today. A sad commentary on what is deemed as “talent” now.

At least there’s archives of the real thing, unless this is taken away because it’s not - well, let’s hold off on that. Maybe that’s not stirred up. Yet.

What a truly timeless song with great lyrics sung by someone who can SING.

  56. d.... p....

No dancers no fireworks!! Just a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice, and a great band.

    d.... p....

And the whole naked body show......

    d.... p....

dennis pardue yeah. I forgot lol. The songs stand all on their own, humbly well ✔ done, well 🌞 sung, without all of the bells and whistles

    d.... p....

    👍 Exactly.

  57. P.... H....

    marvellous voice.

  58. G.... K....

"I know I have a heart because I can feel it breaking". Linda does that to the toughest guys.

    G.... K....

Gustavino K I certainly agree with every word my friend.we will never have another duo even close to Linda and J.D.

    G.... K....

I have been Listening to Linda and J.D. for fifty years now,and what amazing me the most is the harmony in prisoner in disguise.Only The Good Lord will make such amazing music with his hand on their shoulders as they sing together. This is the type of music I would expect to hear as I take that step over to the Paridise to see the loved ones waiting for me.

  59. L.... N....

Faithless love like a river flows

  60. J.... J....

    one my favorites by her.

  61. V.... L....

Killer. Not a false or pretentious note. Hauntingly sad.

    V.... L....

Veronica L. You summed it up perfectly. Her range is staggering and the emotion with which she delivers it is second to none. No Whitney warble to be heard here - just singing from the heart with the most perfect voice.

  62. H.... W....

great singer. fine tunes, crack band and super super cute.

  63. i.... ....

Great song. Linda had an absolutely beautiful voice and sure was cute too.

  64. h.... g....

By this point, Linda had performed this song enough, that it had become well seasoned."

Ronstadt let's you know ALL the emotions, of this song.

    Masterful!

  65. p.... S....

You could hear a pin drop in the auditorium while she was singing this...

  66. L.... P....

  67. D.... V....

    beautiful and moving song

  68. W.... V....

So exposed vocally. Special then even rarer now.

  69. E.... L....

Great song, tremendous singer. She has real tears in her voice - powerful stuff.

  70. G.... ....

linda est un don du ciel.

  71. s.... s....

Sad to see what people enjoy and worship nowadays. This music is absolutely beautiful.

    s.... s....

I’m 16 years old and she’s the only one I listen too I don’t like music today there’s no talent

    s.... s....

Wow nita, for such a young age you have impeccable tastse... no one, absolutely no one can compare to Linda Ronstadt... good job young one!😉

    s.... s....

Yes, and they think this stinks!? Go figure.

  72. T.... T....

People don't give this woman the appreciation she deserves. She was so far ahead of her time and so big in her time.

    T.... T....

Tom Thomas She’s greatly appreciated. 100 million records sold. 10 Grammys. Many honors & awards.

  73. P.... D....

For all these years, I thought the last verse was 'faithless love has found me/ grown its children all around me'

  74. H.... N....

Sigh ... she was a young man's dream vocally and visually. Still luv her.

  75. T.... ....

This is the coked up and thin version of Linda, however, just like Elvis, they could always sing.

    T.... ....

Well, today it seems everyone is on Meth, Extasy or Ritalin. Maybe that is why everyone has "clinical" ADD or ADHD and can't appreciate music like this. Thin does not equal coke, but fat today equals excess and laziness...maybe from playing too many video games.

    T.... ....

Naw. Ms. Ronstadt was not the type. Honest enough to admit that she tried everything, but only tried. As she said, there was a paper and print version of her, and then the real version. Real singers can't do the hard stuff and sing for long -- unless their voices are rough and growly. She sang country, and then American standards, and then Mexican -- and all pretty wholesome. This woman is an angel. And if you think that Elvis could sing -- well, you are entitled to your opinion.

  76. J.... P....

Linda is my favorite back in the day and still now :) Thank you

  77. P.... B....

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS i STILL LOVE HER AND HER SONGS, SHE HAS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE

  78. S.... X....

Her voice is like fine wine. Gorgeously wet and delicious.

  79. P.... D....

51k views and only 1 neg. That's quite a testimony to a great song when even the haters don't show up.

  80. J.... Q....

such a great song , Linda makes it even better

  81. H.... C....

    As it should be. Wonderful.

  82. m.... f....

    Michael fess

  83. S.... U....

In her way Linda is as timeless as Beethoven and Rackmaninoff.

  84. R.... P....

Timeless and beautiful like Linda!  Saw her perform at Tanglewood  (1970), jeans and a T-shirt then Hampton Roads years later (1979)....loved the cheerleader outfit.  She has a legacy like none others.  She is the real deal...love ya Linda!  She honestly brought the lyrics to life!   Todays music isn't music ....just noise to make a buck!   A little more base now and it would be a thunderstorm but not as appealing.

  85. G.... H....

Remembering the time as pure aesthetic, honesty and warmness still counted in contemporary music.

  86. S.... E....

I took my child to see "The Secret Garden" about 1993 (?). I always like to see the credits at the end of movies and suddenly there was a song called "Winter's Light" with the most incredible beautiful soprano voice singing. I sat back down because there was something so very familiar about the voice.

Then a bit into the song it dropped an octave and I said "Holy shit! That's Linda Ronstadt!"  We bought the VHS movie and I never got tired of hearing that beautiful voice at the end of the movie. I knew she had good range, but to hear such incredible range gives me chills to this day.

  87. W.... C....

Wow! Linda knows how to finesse a vocal...........Hearing her voice 40 years later (saw her in 1976), she is even better than I remember.

    W.... C....

    +William Conqueror Yep.

  88. m.... ....

A treasure trove of talent and beauty.

A vocal and visual dream come true. Just breathtaking.

  91. P.... ....

Linda was the music idol us guys loved in the 70's on. She'd blow these screaming, mumbling fakers today right off the stage.

    P.... ....

I still put on her music and enjoy it as much as I did in my teens.

    P.... ....

    Exactly. well said C Jones
