Lila Downs - Árbol De La Vida Lyrics

Such a beautiful song. It reminds me of my crush that can speak nahuatl
Did you ask her out bro

This is so beautiful and like you @manifestingmoni I feel so disconnected as well
This is beautiful. I wish I was connected with my indigenous culture, but I didn't have the opportunity to embrace / learn my culture since my parents are on the more European side of the mestizado side. It would have been nice to speak and understand Nahuatl though
You still can. It's never too late to learn. After all, the language of our indigenous ancestors is still with us to this very day. Like how Nahuatl was incorporated into Mexican Spanish. It just takes some time to find the information we seek, but very well worth the trouble
raices de mexico
Why tf did this make me cry
because this song talks about someone who is dying
it's too real
Damn... I gotta get back in touch with my roots
Makes me want to fall asleep while looking out of a window in Tenochtitlan, with a view of lake Texcoco and the distant trees obscuring the setting sun. I know it does little good to long for what has passed, but it's a pleasant dream nonetheless.
Beautiful comment :)
Currently visiting a lecture on Mesoamerican religious history and Aztecs, we listened to this song with our professor, its so beautiful!!!! I keep coming back
triggered. I'm balling. I feel so lost and disconnected from my roots. I feel like a child lost in her own backyard.
Stay strong, we are connected.
Manifesting Moni i cried too and literally had no idea why but then i read this comment and thought damn me too i miss home spiritually amd my people :(
Please don't listen to those who tell you to stay away from your roots. Don't view your heritage from the perspective of a detached foreigner, refusing to let it have the power it deserves - that is why the culture is still slowly dying to begin with. We have the opportunity to empower it and enrich it, and the Nican Tlacah movement, while flawed and with questionable persuasions in its current form, has great potential to help us reclaim our lost culture.
I really don't want this beautiful thing that we have to die out, and I want to work with others who share my history to make it full of life again.
Mexico was not a colony, it was a viceroyalty. Viva el Mundo Occidental.
martin martinez “India wasn’t a colony, it was an Empire”

it is a good song

no pos si
especially in this album lila is magical!thank you for the translation...beautiful language indeed...

No crees?
Beautiful song and language! I wish I can know how to speak my indigenous language!!

Q hermosa cancion....

Tomorrow,
Tomorrow whn I die
I dont want you to be sad.
To this place,
to this place I will return,
in the form of a hummingbird
Woman,
when you look to the sun,
smile fondly
There,
There I will be with our father,
Good light I will send you.
Beautiful! Can't understand it but it is haunting.
