I love the raw emotion Chris puts in his voice, he definitely gets Percy down.
Percy is such a sweet kid, but he's been through all this shit, which is why he's so bitter at times, and he's only good thing in his life is his mom, Sally. Sally is the perfect mom (along with Natalie Chase), she put Percy's needs before her own, staying with Gabe even though he abused her and Percy so that her son could be safe. I've always been more partial to Grover and Annabeth because I've been through some the stuff they've been through, and I never had (or will ever have) a good relationship with any of my parents, especially my mom.

Something really interesting I noticed about this song was how in the list of phrases that Percy hears a lot, like “Don’t act up, Don’t act out” is his mom’s (who he adores as almost perfect) “Be strong” at 0:31. Even though she meant it as an affirmation for Percy, it just added onto the pressure he felt from the world around him. Take that information how you’d like, I just find it interesting and important

I’m going to this musical in a couple of months, and honestly I can NOT believe it. This has been my favorite book since I got past the second chapter. I live in L.A. so I’ll have to take a plane (o H god zEus nO) so please, wish me luck on my quest! ;’D
