Lightfoot, Gordon - Alberta Bound Lyrics

Oh the prairie lights are burnin' bright
The Chinook wind is a-movin' in
Tomorrow night I'll be Alberta bound
Though I've done the best I could
My old luck ain't been so good and
Tomorrow night I'll be Alberta bound
No one-eyed man could e'er forget
The Rocky Mountain sunset
It's a pleasure just to be Alberta bound
I long to see my next of kin
To know what kind of shape they're in
Tomorrow night I'll be Alberta bound
Alberta bound, Alberta bound
It's good to be Alberta bound
Alberta bound, Alberta bound
It's good to be Alberta bound

Oh the skyline of Toronto
Is somethin' you'll get onto
But they say you've got to live there for a while
And if you got the money
You can get yourself a honey
A written guarantee ta make you smile
But it's snowin' in the city
And the streets and brown and gritty
And I know there's pretty girls all over town
But they never seem ta find me
And the one I left behind me
Is the reason that I'll be Alberta bound

Alberta bound, Alberta bound
It's good to be Alberta bound
Alberta bound, Alberta bound
It's good to be Alberta bound
It's good to be Alberta bound

Literally one of my favorite country songs ever, and I've never even been to Canada.

BTW this blows Paul Brandt's song of the same name out of the water

Met a good friend when I was in junior college. Her name was Carol Hoffman. She was tall blonde and gorgeous. She was originally from Bainbridge Island, Washington. She introduced me to bologna and cheese sandwiches made with Miracle Whip. That was in the summer of 1972.

I was raised, though not born in Calgary through the sixties. We went over to Kalamalka Lake every year passing by the three sisters. We paid our respects, having listened to the indigenous stories, by those people of the time. I must admit, even though I am no longer in Canada , I consider myself to be still a Canadian than by any other influence throughout my life. This man, was a major influence in that regard.(although a little later). Thank you Gordon Lightfoot, not only a Canadian Legend , but a World legend as well...

  23. T.... C....

Gordo, Red, Rick and Terry. I could listen to this album over and over and never get tired of it. Oh yeah, let's not forget Nick DeCaro and those wonderful strings. This whole album is perfection. Not a lemon in it. I had to do a report in high school on a song for English class and a friend loaned me his Don Quixote. Absolutely blown away.

  24. R.... C....

A song for people who couldn't make it in Toronto.

    R.... C....

A song for a Ronald who couldn't make it in the U.S, but thinks he's big.

    R.... C....

Western Alberta and bc make Toronto look like a parking lot.thats basically what it is!lol been there, wouldn't live there if it was free!

  25. S.... M....

Gordon Lightfoot has no place in Canadian music. He IS Canadian music. :)

    S.... M....

then you must have never heard of Bryan Adams even the song named the same from him is 200x better

    S.... M....

    @Endrit Shabani Nice Try!

    S.... M....

How can you compare Bryan Adams to Gordon Lightfoot? Ish

  26. t.... w....

I've got family in Alberta, and would like to see that lovely place again. Assuming I can get back into the US afterward without passing six polygraph tests and a couple of colonoscopies, that is....
