Lewis, Jerry Lee - You Win Again Lyrics

The news is out all over town
That you've been seen out runnin' around
I know that I should leave, but then
I just can't go,
You win again

This heart of mine could never see
What everybody knows but me
Just trusting in you was my great sin
What can I do?
You Win Again

Yes this heart of mine could never see
What everybody knows but me
Just trusting you was my great sin
What can I do?
You Win Again

Lewis, Jerry Lee You Win Again Comments
  1. B.... A....

They kicked him out of rock n roll so all he did was tear up the country charts. This man is one of the greatest of all time. Nobody will ever be able to own the piano like Jerry lee Lewis.

Jerry Lee is to the piano what Janis Joplin was to vocals. Fucking garbage.

  6. A.... M....

Like Jerry Lee said: "i'm not only a singer and pianist,i'm a stylist of music.." i totally agree. This is a perfect pure classic country song, written by an american poet,Hank Williams, and here is singed by an extremely talented artist from Ferriday Louisiana. I don't like to call him the Killer. I prefer to consider him an excellent interpreter of one of the most fabulous music in the world. Rock'n'roll firstable, country and western, blues, gospel, also jazz and all the genres that played him. Thank you Jerry Lee. Many artists have sung and played country music, but none in as personal a way as yours. You are such a great storyteller of stories of broken hearts and you do it in the most wonderful way there is ... singing and playing with all your heart.

  7. B.... L....

This was one of my favorites back in the day. I've still got all my LP's 💖💖💖💖💖

    B.... L....

I think that this should have been the A-side.

  8. J.... B....

Love this song and jerry lee is awesome

  9. J.... D....

Oh God!! Spare and beautiful!! Thank you for posting this. Just listen to the slides in his voice!!

  10. D.... L....

great talent, hell of a piano player. but i think his best work was country and western.

    D.... L....

This certainly was country unlike the A side.

    D.... L....

@catman916 his rock and roll work was really good too, but he said so himself that he was more comfortable in country music. his arguement with sam philips about rock and roll being the devil's music was another time when he expressed this view.

  11. S.... S....

Besides Hank Sr, best version of this song right here by Jerry Lee Lewis 👍

  17. J.... S....

    The killer
No one else like him never will be again. Today's country music and rock and roll lacks the soul of the of what Jerry and others brought to the audience's of there time when it all began. Today's sound is no comparison to the real sound of music. Thanks killer for your devotion to your sound and style to what real music sounds like. Keep on playing it.

  18. S.... A....

Hank Williams Sr. owns this song. No one can do it better, because Hank recorded the song for a reason. His pain is felt by the way he sings the song.

  19. S.... W....

In 19666 i recorded a song i wrote called : Don't Watch Me Cry" I had a fantastic piano player by the name of Charlie O'Bannon help me with the recording, I went to Panther Hall in FT Worth Tx and gave it to Jerry ,,, he never gave it back or recorded it ....I did have a patton on it,,, still waiting lol

Jerry lived a sad and tragic life, so much talent wasted on his life decision that cost him everything. I listen it breaks my heart for Jerry Lee. I love this song because i relate to this song very much so.

  46. T.... ....

One of the few covers ever that's better than the original, and considering the original's from Hank Williams, that's pretty fucking impressive. Jerry totally took this song and made it his own.

    T.... ....

I'm a great fan of Hank but Jerry killed this !

    T.... ....

Totally unnecessary use of a profanity.

  47. J.... M....

The only instance in modern music where a "cover," made several years after the original recording---with all due respects to the great Hank Williams---------is BETTER than the original. This great song in my mind will forever be linked to the great Jerry Lee Lewis----his masterpiece, AND Hank Williams.

  48. R.... V....

    Truly the greatest!

  49. A.... P....

Love his music!!!! Definitely one of a kind!

    J.... P....

    +Jan Pompeani
yeah me too. jerry taught himself, just sat down and learned to play. when he had his problems because of his marriage to his cousin and couldn't get himself recorded anymore he started playing in the studio for others. when they handed him the sheet music he said what the hell am i going to do with this, play the damn song.

    J.... P....

    Me toMe. Thats raw talent.

  56. w.... ....

The first record I ever bought when I was just a kid was "Great Balls of Fire" with the B side "You Win Again". I recognize the record sleeve in the video here at 0:07. This was described on the sleeve as Jerry Lee on a "date" with the young woman pictured. Drove my parents nuts playing it. Thanks catman916!

    w.... ....

+white1988toyotasupra I still have my copy of the 45.

  57. S.... M....

Sammii, as long as you're alive and well, you're in the right generation. Just keep listenin' to quality music from the past! :)

  58. b.... ....

This is Jerry Lee's version for Sun Records. You can see his gospel influence in the piano bridge. And does anyone notice that Jerry Lee's cousins Mickey Gilley and Jimmy Swaggart also play a similar style?

    b.... ....

+bulldogbarks55 Jimmy swaggart taught both of his cousins how to play.

  59. f.... c....

The Greatest Piano Player Ever -  And Great Vocalist.  Fantastic Jerry Lee Lewis.

  61. M.... ....

    Magic hands,,,

  62. T.... B....

jerry lee lewis this is outstanding,  i love this man

  63. B.... S....

My thoughts? Jerry Lee Lewis was an inspiration to many aspiring young artists. Although Jerry Lee made a big splash in the rock "n" roll scene he never lost the country side of himself as shown in "You Win Again". I have always loved his way with a piano and a tune. Yes Jerry Lee was and is a one of a kind.

    B.... S....

The one black mark on his great career, and it almost completely ruined it, was his marriage to his 14 year old cousin. He finally got some semblance of his career back sometime later, but I think it really flattened it and he never quite returned to the prominence he held before.

    B.... S....

@Richard Wahl jerry was a victim of his upbringing. he lived in louisiana and it was in their social fabric to marry young. the farmers had big families. the boys worked the farm and married off their daughters young because it was economical to do so. i was around when the scandal broke and jerry was bewildered and couldn''t understand what the fuss was about. in the deep south a young bride was not uncommon.

    B.... S....

@Denis Lessard Well, it cost him.......dearly!! And Jerry Lee certainly wasn't any farmer and the young girl was his..........cousin? Too bad, now he knows for sure, that life just isn't fair.

    B.... S....

What you have reported is true. I knew the story when I made this post and comment. However, I was commenting on the artist and his undeniable talent. It was in no way meant to be a biography, nor an expose'.
    Thanks for the post(s)!

    B.... S....

+Bobby Snard i agree jerry was a big star, but there is a but. he should have been a lot bigger. there were too many ifs in his life. if he hadn't married his cousin ( i believe it was his second cousin) if he hadn't drunk so much and done drugs, if if if. love his music, always have but he always seemed to get in his own way.

  64. E.... R....

    Great version of this song.

    E.... R....

Ellen R. The best version of any others.

  65. L.... M....

    Wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

  66. D.... ....

    How can anybody dislike this?

    D.... ....

The people who don't like it are probably Beatles fans ;say no More.

  67. a.... p....

Grande Jerry !!!!!  nel suo periodo country, dove forse ha dato il meglio di sè ....

  68. r.... ....

Heard this version before hearing Hank's version. Why didn't the Killer do the complete song rather than repeat a lyric??

    r.... ....

because it was a b side. in the old days they didn't put as much effort in the b side.

  69. b.... ....

Great stuff.....see the "Don't knock the rock" version.

  70. e.... p....

Jerry should have been a greater star, but as he says in the Movie you can tell England to Kiss My Ass and then the ride to hell

    e.... p....

i have to feel sorry for jerry lee, what he did when he married his first wife was quite common in the 40's and 50's. they tended to marry young because they were very poor. you worked the boys on the farm and married the girls off. the uproar cost him a career.

    e.... p....

He was and always will be a big star. WTF are you talking about?

    e.... p....

He woulda been bigger than you elvis

    e.... p....

@Bryan su in his book he says Elvis once broke down in tears and said the same thing, basically.

  71. k.... m....

i was a fan when i was 13 now i am 68 i saw him live twice in 1960s  he is a legend

    k.... m....

    @Captain Howdy
Yes, I was lucky. He appeared on the same bill as the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly and the Crickets, and Fats Domino.

    k.... m....

    @catman916 Oh my god o.O

    k.... m....

+Denis Lessard Saw JLL in 1971. He was 2 hrs late, but, worth every minute. TORE UP that piano!

    k.... m....

hank williams would have been proud

    k.... m....

I saw him twice both in the mid 80's one on a tour with Fats Domino, great concerts.

  72. M.... D....

The best by the Killer in my view.  Passionate singing with great piano like only Jerry can play.  American today is lost in a conglomerate of electronic shallow garbage in both the rock and country genre.  Music like this simply does not exist in today's market.

  73. e.... ....

    very nice

  74. R.... W....

    elvis, you are so right

  75. W.... ....

    Absolutely love his version.
