Lewis, Jerry Lee - High Heel Sneakers Lyrics

Put on you're high-heel sneakers, on that wig down on you're head
Put on you're high-heel sneakers, on that wig down on you're head
'Cause we're goin' out tonight baby, ooo-ooo, I'm pretty sure you're gonna knock 'em dead

Put on you're red dress baby, 'cause we're goin' out tonight, come on now!
Put on you're red dress baby, we gonna go out tonight
And I'm gonna sharpen up my razor
'Cause some cats might wanna fight

Put on you're high-heel sneakers, on that wig down on you're head, come on now!
Put on you're high-heel sneakers, honey why don't you put that wig down on you're head, whooo!
'Cause we're goin' out tonight baby, ooh ooh, I'm pretty sure you're gonna knock 'em dead

Put on you're red dress baby, 'cause we're goin' out tonight, yeeaahh come on now!
Put on you're red dress baby, we gonna go out tonight
And I'm gonna sharpen up my razor
'Cause some cats might wanna fight

This is the best version of this song that I have ever heard . The Caribou Sessions version is a close runner up though.

You're right! These is no reason why this song shouldn't have went all the way to No. 1 when it came out. For the life of me, I'll never understand the fickle buying habits of the public in America!

I couldn't agree with you more.

YES!  The very best version of this song ever recorded!  I wish there was video of it...

Just the best version Jerry ever recorded! The audience is also into the beat and that adds a lot of power! And that guitar string pushed at just the right time- that is the essence of Rock n Roll!

You're absolutely right about that Reg! Things were done differently in those days at record labels, but I honestly don't believe that those who were in power at Smash, didn't realize what an awesomely powerful album this was. I would put this recording, and this version of Jerry's band up against the Stones, Otis Redding, The Beatles, or anyone who was a Top 5 Rock act at that time. Also, thanks for subscribing to my channel - glad you liked it!

Thanks for the response. AND I AGREE TOTALLY WITH YOU! I saw Jerry live in 1964 at the University of New Mexico- I NEVER FORGOT THAT PERFORMANCE! Finally, he is getting some respect for his unique talent! It's about damn time!

I love every last song on that album. I bought it when I was a teenager, and have worn out several copies of it over the years. Glad CDs came along, lol.
