Lewis, Jenny - The Voyager Lyrics

How did this not top the charts for weeks on end is beyond my comprehension. This song is fucking beautiful. Thank you Ms. Lewis.

This song isn't about suicide or death or drugs. It's about the Voyager 1 space mission. It's a motivational song. Space is the heaven she's singing about. It's about becoming an astronaut or something special.

After a personal tragic event happened, I turned on the radio to distract myself. This song started to play on a NPR show. I love the song but at the same time I don't like the moment it reminds me of.

So I listened to a JL podcast. this song is literal. No underlying meaning. this song is about a motel that burned down. her family member was staying there.

"Sipping that kool-aid of the cosmos"...it's more about psychedelic exploration of the cosmos and your self, but you can still classify it as "ego-suicide" and it's not a coincidence her second album was called "Acid Tongue" ;) :D

Brings tears to my eyes. So beautiful, emotive, captivating. Been fan since early Rilo Kiley and this is one of Jenny's best songs. Ultimately we will all die and realizing that will scare you straight. Haunting yet comforting in a way.

VERY Moody Blues, which is why I love this track. The Moodies are my fave band, and Jenny nails it with this tune. I could easily hear Justin Hayward's voice singing this.

Even though it could be interpreted as a suicide/death song, I think she's saying that if you want to see and experience wonderful things you have to leave your comfort zone, leave home, etc.  Just go do it.

It is about the Voyager Motor Inn - a famous old hotel that burned down in Jenny's hotel during the time when she was recording the record. It is a sort of passing of time, growing up, no more innocent youth song.

This sounds heavily mexican influenced because of the strumming and perhaps the singing style as well.
