LEWIS DEL MAR - Wave(s) Lyrics

The night we broke out
Neighborhood penitentiary
We drove to the coast and
Laughed for a century
You sunk your feet
In the empty beach
And took off all your clothes
Said "I'm never going home now
Who's gonna tell me no"

Freedom ain't it frightening
Like swimming in the lightening
Deadly but delighting
Lips against the sky now
So bold

[Chorus:]
You told me
"It always tastes good
When I choose it for myself
When there's fire in my woods
It burns me and nobody else
I know I fuck up
But as long as I show up
It'll always taste good"

I woke up in the waves
Listening to your laughter
The Odyssey sixth chapter
You were still naked
Impressionist painting
You came to me
Said run away with me
Drew lines on my cheeks
With the mud from the ground
Whispered
"Paradise ain't lost it's found"
(Whatever)

[Chorus]

Freedom ain't it frightening
No one to make you do the right thing
What's the right thing

[Chorus]

    I'm so sad that I can't enjoy this song anymore because of the memories attached to it. ;'/

  7. E.... S....

    This song has always spoken to me on a different level. My woods are lonely but at least I don’t burn other things with me, I taste my own choices, that’s why I have to choose them for myself. 🙌 I almost never make comments but this is one of the few songs I’ve connected to over and over and in a positive way. 💕

    The comment section for all these songs makes me so happy because it's always full of people who listen to the same bands that no one else I know listens to

  23. D.... D....

    WTB tabs for that riff. PM if WTS lol

  24. H.... D....

    I was for sure it said "words" not "woods"

    H.... D....

    Words makes more sense and it's more poetic... So fek it I'm singing words.

    H.... D....

    For real, I love how it sounds and my perspective on the lyrics when it says words is beautiful I think, was so sad when I realised I was wrong the whole time ha

  25. A.... D....

  31. S.... T....

    They aren't even blown up.... everyone needs to chill.

  32. j.... ....

    more seriously, this is not my aesthetic. no tension. too chill. but, there's at least _some_ attention to detail, and that's a rare thing within this aesthetic that is not mine. i wouldn't count on them getting too big as they seem geared towards a generation that is now in adulthood and can no longer credibly claim the title of "youth" - that is, kids nowadays are going to hear their parents or their aunts and uncles in this - but i will acknowledge that it would have been better off on a larger stage, some time in the middle of the last decade. they would have been a great opening act for the animal collective...

    j.... ....

    this is the new dad rock.

    j.... ....

    Bullshit. The last thing i hear is my uncle. I hear the beach and the gentle wave, and drinking too much n one night stands.

  33. S.... K....

    Lyrics is dope. Special mentions to the lines : 'The Odyssey's sixth chapter' , 'impressionist painting' and 'paradise ain't lost its found'. Some really deep meanings to those lines.

    S.... K....

    Sriezan Koirala could you please explain please ? (English isn't my first language ^^') like the parts you cited and the song's meaning in general

  35. C.... L....

    If you also say " I know I fuck her" instead of "I know I fuck up"

  36. *.... ....

    This is absolutely nothing compared to their music live, it is such a different experience. Fell in love

  37. A.... F....

    Oml listen to 1.25 speed, you'll thank me

    A.... F....

    The beat at "when I choose it for myself" sounds better in 1.25 speed than normal but other than that it sounds a little bit like pots, pans and keys clanging and jiggling...too much noise and static. With that speed it kind of removes the brooding element of the song lol but thanks for the suggestion, it was interesting :D

    A.... F....

    Thank you

    A.... F....

    Hipsters, all of you, please calm the fuck down. We get it, you were here. Congratulations, do you want a fuckin cookie?

    S.... H....

    It is an ancient Mariner,
    And he stoppeth one of three.
    'By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,
    Now wherefore stopp'st thou me?

    The Bridegroom's doors are opened wide,
    And I am next of kin;
    The guests are met, the feast is set:
    May'st hear the merry din.'

    He holds him with his skinny hand,
    'There was a ship,' quoth he.
    'Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!'
    Eftsoons his hand dropt he.

    He holds him with his glittering eye—
    The Wedding-Guest stood still,
    And listens like a three years' child:
    The Mariner hath his will.

    The Wedding-Guest sat on a stone:
    He cannot choose but hear;
    And thus spake on that ancient man,
    The bright-eyed Mariner.

    'The ship was cheered, the harbour cleared,
    Merrily did we drop
    Below the kirk, below the hill,
    Below the lighthouse top.

    The Sun came up upon the left,
    Out of the sea came he!
    And he shone bright, and on the right
    Went down into the sea.

    Higher and higher every day,
    Till over the mast at noon—'
    The Wedding-Guest here beat his breast,
    For he heard the loud bassoon.

    The bride hath paced into the hall,
    Red as a rose is she;
    Nodding their heads before her goes
    The merry minstrelsy.

    The Wedding-Guest he beat his breast,
    Yet he cannot choose but hear;
    And thus spake on that ancient man,
    The bright-eyed Mariner.

    And now the STORM-BLAST came, and he
    Was tyrannous and strong:
    He struck with his o'ertaking wings,
    And chased us south along.

    With sloping masts and dipping prow,
    As who pursued with yell and blow
    Still treads the shadow of his foe,
    And forward bends his head,
    The ship drove fast, loud roared the blast,
    And southward aye we fled.

    And now there came both mist and snow,
    And it grew wondrous cold:
    And ice, mast-high, came floating by,
    As green as emerald.

    And through the drifts the snowy clifts
    Did send a dismal sheen:
    Nor shapes of men nor beasts we ken—
    The ice was all between.

    The ice was here, the ice was there,
    The ice was all around:
    It cracked and growled, and roared and howled,
    Like noises in a swound!

    At length did cross an Albatross,
    Thorough the fog it came;
    As if it had been a Christian soul,
    We hailed it in God's name.

    It ate the food it ne'er had eat,
    And round and round it flew.
    The ice did split with a thunder-fit;
    The helmsman steered us through!

    And a good south wind sprung up behind;
    The Albatross did follow,
    And every day, for food or play,
    Came to the mariner's hollo!

    In mist or cloud, on mast or shroud,
    It perched for vespers nine;
    Whiles all the night, through fog-smoke white,
    Glimmered the white Moon-shine.'

    'God save thee, ancient Mariner!
    From the fiends, that plague thee thus!—
    Why look'st thou so?'—With my cross-bow
    I shot the ALBATROSS.

    PART II
    The Sun now rose upon the right:
    Out of the sea came he,
    Still hid in mist, and on the left
    Went down into the sea.

    And the good south wind still blew behind,
    But no sweet bird did follow,
    Nor any day for food or play
    Came to the mariner's hollo!

    And I had done a hellish thing,
    And it would work 'em woe:
    For all averred, I had killed the bird
    That made the breeze to blow.
    Ah wretch! said they, the bird to slay,
    That made the breeze to blow!

    Nor dim nor red, like God's own head,
    The glorious Sun uprist:
    Then all averred, I had killed the bird
    That brought the fog and mist.
    'Twas right, said they, such birds to slay,
    That bring the fog and mist.

    The fair breeze blew, the white foam flew,
    The furrow followed free;
    We were the first that ever burst
    Into that silent sea.

    Down dropt the breeze, the sails dropt down,
    'Twas sad as sad could be;
    And we did speak only to break
    The silence of the sea!

    All in a hot and copper sky,
    The bloody Sun, at noon,
    Right up above the mast did stand,
    No bigger than the Moon.

    Day after day, day after day,
    We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
    As idle as a painted ship
    Upon a painted ocean.

    Water, water, every where,
    And all the boards did shrink;
    Water, water, every where,
    Nor any drop to drink.

    The very deep did rot: O Christ!
    That ever this should be!
    Yea, slimy things did crawl with legs
    Upon the slimy sea.

    About, about, in reel and rout
    The death-fires danced at night;
    The water, like a witch's oils,
    Burnt green, and blue and white.

    And some in dreams assurèd were
    Of the Spirit that plagued us so;
    Nine fathom deep he had followed us
    From the land of mist and snow.

    And every tongue, through utter drought,
    Was withered at the root;
    We could not speak, no more than if
    We had been choked with soot.

    Ah! well a-day! what evil looks
    Had I from old and young!
    Instead of the cross, the Albatross
    About my neck was hung.

    Steven, your logic so far has been.

    Hipsters are bad because they're yelling about something meaningless, so let me busy myself by yelling about something meaningless.

    Talking about my dick size online to a joke isn't a sign of sensitivity.

    And i'm not sensitive nor do i have a small dick because I said so.

    And writing a comment that essentially boils down to a worse version of the 300 confirmed kills meme is a good comeback.

    Step it up, can't you be like Tom? He may have 2 and a half inches but he knows how to use it... Also what whores have you been dating? Like damn if they're averaging out to mediocre at best no wonder you need to prove something here.

    S.... H....

    @SanicDaHergedog my logic has so far been? Hipsters are just annoying, thinking they are better than everyone. When everyone knows I'm god and better than all of them. Talking about my dick size is hilarious, off you don't like it, I don't give a shit. I never said you were sensitive, you assumed that you dumb ass. 300 confirmed kills? No idea what you are talking about there buddy. Hey, talking about the whores I've been dating is not cool because you're basically calling my mother a whore. Proving something here? Come on, all I'm proving is that I'm awesome and hilarious.
