Levellers - Mutiny Lyrics

For us to carry on
To fight and die as we have done
With the whips and prayers to face the machine guns
We're a mutiny so they say
We've gone against the king today

As I write to you my love, I'll be gone out of all that's dear to me
For two years now we've fought and died for home with bravery
Now the bulls have pulled me down, there's no way out for me
As I leave this damn disgrace, keep a good name for me

Love can't you see this
I'm not as I was before
Love please believe this
I'm Jesse Robert Short

I stared the captain in the eyes
And they told me that he'd never seen the front line
That bugger ought to have a rope around his neck
And thrown into the river
Did I say these words that have cast me down
Well, I really can't remember
With my back hard tied to the post
Oh, that black September
As I leave this damn disgrace remember me forever

Love can't you see this
I'm not as I was before
Love please believe this
I'm Jesse Robert Short

Love can't you see this
I'm not as I was before
Love please believe this
I'm Jesse Robert Short
Love can't you see this
I'm not as I was before
Love please believe this
I'm Jesse Robert Short

+ Tina B he is an officer in the military police so it is unlikely he would have seen the front, officers in combat regiments saw just as much action and danger as there men. You've obversely not worked with the british army in combat or even in training as you would know officers are just as much in the action as there men.

    H.... B....

the First World War was the last one where the British military had officers who had bought their commissions. Later conflicts saw more professional officers in the fieldm

Sadly war can not end but luckily we have come a long way from that off the First World War. Officers fight along side there men these days and they even did back then. I'd be proud to follow the foot steps of my dad and serve in are army.

  10. T.... B....

Amazing, I especially like the line around frame 1.40 " I stared The CAPTAIN in the eyes an he told me that he never seen the FRONTLINE.. Ah ha, A h Ha. This is a 100% true statement as I work with The BRITISH Forces.

  11. C.... ....

    Yeah got to agree there.

  12. m.... ....

Absolutely. No-one does the historical epic song like The Men They Couldn't Hang. They're masters of the art. This is a good step into the same terrirory by the Levs though.

  13. j.... ....

The subject matter & sentiment is similar, but - much as I LOVE the Levs - I think The Colours is better: an uplifting, rousing and persistently memorable anthem....

  14. E.... F....
