Level 42 - The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up) Lyrics
Though I live in the edge time is on my side
All the doors to my life are open wide
Just as long as the wheels keep on turning round
I will live for the groove 'til the sun goes down
Living it up ... is it a crazy notion?
Living it up ... living it up ... I can feel it
Living it up ... I got forward motion
I don't wanna go to war, I don't wanna go to war
I said I know what I want an' I don't wanna go to war
Do you follow me?
I saw a soldier standing in a bar, looked so tired, he'd come so far
He said "I need to love someone before they drop the atom bomb"
And her hair long and black is a sight to see
But I get kind of scared when love's around
I just live for the groove 'til the sun goes down
Living it up ... living it up ... I can feel it
Living it up ... is it a false emotion?
Living it up ... living it up ... I can feel it
Living it up ... I got forward motion
So I'm-a-taking you out but I'm-a-faking
I'm married to the beat
To the music I gave the heart I could have given you-hoo
Still there's something 'bout the way that you move
And the way the people stare, it's the shock of the new
I want my friends to see me standing next to you
The sun goes down
Time is on my side
I don't care what they say, I'll enjoy the ride
But I get kind of scared when I turn around
So I'll stay with the groove 'til the sun goes down
Living it up ... living it up ... I can feel it
Living it up ... I got forward motion
Ooh watch her dance
There must be one like her in every club in every town
But I don't mind if that's the way she wants to be
There something 'bout her that reminds me of me
She's my soulmate - we'll be together 'til the sun goes down
The sun goes down
Living it up ... living it up ... I can feel it
Living it up ... I got forward motion

*defintiion of dad rock yo*
Funky mon.
Just perfect 80s music from a perfect band :-)
1983 the sun goes down.....2019 the sun still goes down
I allways thought it's Cool and the gang song.
Still bangin! Level 42 is so unsung
That Bass though!
Great track and musicianship...my main passion is 90s alternative rock but I like to dip into the 80s sometimes for quality like this.
Love this tune! dx
I'm just here because of groovymac
Cool tune..great bass lines from mark and mike's singing gives it a stevie wonder vibe.
Everybody`s talking about Mr Bass, the song, Mike and Boon, but how come no one`s talking about Phil Gould`s straight hands position, and his incredible groove playing drums???
Probably because it goes over our heads. Drumming I mean. I'd I played I probably would
Those in the know do
Ashes to Ashes brought me here!
Mark is looking like hutch... The cop
Songs don't come much funkier than this.
This is one band that work so well together. Why can't we have music like this produced today? The music industry is choking on dollars producing autotuned trash.
Still can't deal with how amazing the bass-line is! One of Marks best! Syncopated much?!
This has to be the best thing to come out of the Isle Of Wight. Funk of this magnitude should be illegal.
All hail Level 42..........and the 80s! They are the funkmasters of our times.........
All time classic. Mark Kings bass line is utterly unforgetable. So thats it, my head will be replaying this all day!
A Friday song in the day and is still one now. Enjoy people.
My mum played this on a cd in 2011, it’s been my favourite song since then. Been 4 years old was the greatest.

70 odd people don't like this, oh well each to their own. Although I can why as it doesn't go on for long enough :)

That bass of Marks , has a superb growl to it 👍🏻
It’s 2019 and a teenage girl is listening to this

2019 and still Livin it up ... great bass from Mark King ... loved it as a teen -- watching them on Top of the Pops! Happy memories!
Amazing tune!
Loved it then love it now great 80s classic.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, you dont get much better, classic
What a tune!
Good band level 42. Glad I was young back then to enjoy this group at there peek. Should listen to world machine album from this band. Made a lot of good singles. This is when bands could play there instruments and sit down and write there own music. That’s why music had class back then because they made there own music.
That keyboard player is a hottie!
why is something about you not on this channel. makes no sense
Love the groove on this song. Reminds me of being a kid, sitting in my dad's car with this on the radio.
Listening to it now, the lyrics are pretty kind of lame and disconnected at parts (The random bit about not wanting to go to war) but it doesn't matter coz the whole song has a proper virtuoso like groove.
Also, been watching a few interviews by the band, they seem the most modest and likeable pop stars ever. Really humble. I love that in a band. Especially the bass playing, Mark is such a lovely guy.
Totally agree with you , great guys , talented musicians ,i think the "i don't wanna go to war " bit in the lyrics was a reference to nuclear war being as it was the 1980's.
ok guys, this was the last song y'all uploaded. 2 years ago! more!!!!!
love...love....love
This is just incredible music from the great Level 42 I've been a very big fan of this 4 piece band from England UK !!! Dance disco funk soul pop r+b their work through the years is just incredible Lead vocals Mark King is just a very talented artist his playing of a guitar is just incredible staggering he has just turned 60 recently they were a ground breaking band of the glorious 80s !!!
Classic
One of the best Bass Lines Ever !!!!!!
Anyone around 2019,respec!bruv

I am 6 years old and this is my favourite song.
Saw them last night for the time ever, this song is the must, great gig in Brighton guys👌👍🕺🕺
Summut bobby brown about it
Got a touch of Earth Wind and Fire about it.
And so it should. The album "Standing in the Light" which features this song was produced by Larry Dunn, and Verdine White. both from EWF
Now this is we like to call groove. Jesus christ.
44 people ain’t livin’ it up.
the sun never gos down on this tune, brilliant, classic and so damm catchy.
God bless Level 42 😊😊😊😊
The groove on this track is simply amazing.
There were genious artists at this age, I think.
Just a wonderul feel good funky jam. Level 42 reminds me of my youth in the 80´s and is one of my favourite bands of all time. This is my favourite song of theirs as well as one of my all time favourites.
My god, the BASS!
Surprised someone hasn't tried to produce a modern day sample of this feel good Summer track
Oh Christ on a bike, I had quite forgotten just how naff the vid thing was in the 80's, embarrassing to even watch now.
one of many of their best imho, 42 built around the bass and drum, in that order lol
Proper music
Thanks to the girl who sang this at Karaoke the other night :) A forgotten fave
Great vocals from mark & mike great bass
Funky...
Jamas vi tanta elegancia en un pop
Classic! When music was music. Damn.. those days were the best.
