Leprous - Distant Bells Lyrics
Daft notions of pitfalls
A shaft built of distrust
Getting rid of the infancy
What used to be the remedy
What still remains?
Pitfalls
I've been around for all these years
I hear the sound of distant bells
I've been around for all these years
I'm on the ground yet again
I've been around...
What still remains?
The craft of living
The art of forgiving
The art of forgiving
Where have I gone?
What still remains?
Where have I gone?
What still remains?
The start of the new world
The fresh leaves uncurl
The shed has been torn down
My bed is no longer a safe zone
No longer a safe zone
And I've been around for all these years
And I hear the sound of distant bells
And I've been around for all these years
And I fell to the ground yet again

Leprous Distant Bells Comments
Man, leprous is just fucking amazing right now
Npr tiny desk when
Wish that amazing climax lasted longer
Me: I bet you can’t sing something that makes me happy and sad, at the same time
Leprous:
Maybe it's because I just found out about this splendid band, but I love this album just as much as their old shit tbh
Yeah, Leprous always delivers, one way or another.
Yeah. To me this is like a leveled up version of the song Malina.
While I think pitfalls has overall fewer awesome tracks than most of their previous albums, leprous created some their greatest music ever here and this one in particular feels like the pinnacle, pure bliss and perfection.
Hiç Türk yok mu ya ?? 🤟🏼
this song destroys me. it decomposes me to my bear core. i wanna die to it. i've been around for all these years
Stoned music made by stoned people! The fruit of strong drugs added...
This is definitely my favorite track on the (all-around amazing) new album. Those last two minutes HIT MY SOUL.
So fucking good aghhhhhhhhh
my depresion IIIIIiiiiIIIisss GOOOOOooooonEEEE
Can we just talk about how this is one of the greatest songs ever?
What a vocalist and band ! Amazing !! <3 They was new to me, before last Saturday ( 7th December in Helsinki ) !!! <3
And AAAaaaAAAaaaAAA have been ArAAAaaaAAAound for all these yEEeeEEeeEEaaAAaaAArs!
This is the perfect song for a psychological thriller anime with time travelling concept, the moment the main character after travelling too much/long, has lost everything and anyone.
His voice is very similar to Arnór Dan's voice.
Fantastic album from Leprous Congratulations. At the bottom fantastic song 💗💗👍👍
huge fan of leprous all the way. amazing work boys
I love metal Leprous, but this album works like this for me: Leprous stripped the metal from their sound, and what remains is Leprous. These are just ridiculously good songs, all of them.
"Sometimes, I wake up from my sleep listening to distant bells. Will they be the same when the coffin will be slowly descending six feet under? I think I will be unable to hear them then. That’s why I hear them now."
Finally, Leprous' album that doesn't contain annoying quasi-prog metal stuff and it isn't way too ambitious. Great work.
Oh-Oh-oooooo Oh-Oh-oooooo Oh-Oh-Oh-ooooooo
Goooooddd DAMN. Chills every time. Have had this album on repeat.
Tem Brasileiro aqui?
Man, I really liked the concert yesterday in Vienna. That Massive Attack cover was ridiculously good and very surprising!
One of the best song I have ever heard in my life
simply beautiful
Not the Leprous we expected but the one we need
The fuckin' piano in this, man. Gets better for every time I listen.
And as always, hard not cry from Einar's voice.
When it is finishing, you need more and more. Another awesome song from an awesome band.
I miss good old progressive metal Leprous, a lot. I miss the times that all the instruments takes part and shines in the songs. I love leprous so much but these last 2 albums are like projects for the preparation of Einar's solo career...
Simply amazing!!! It's such a fantastic journey..... I really enjoy this sooooo much!
I'm a metalhead. But when it comes to progressive metal. THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO HEAR. this is progressive, this is unheard, this is unexpect. Guys, I don't want to spit on your hard work to reach this level, but you're really gifted, and we are lucky because we can hear you materials.
Keep searching, keep exploring, this is what progressive is for, then we can like or not, but to not betray itself is to be...PROGRESSIVE.
This song is an adventure! I love it!
This is so good, when the song kicks off you have no idea it was coming, friggen masterpiece.
Magnificent song!
aaaaAAAAANNND IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'VE BEEN AROOOUND FOR ALL THESE YEAaAaRS
god damn i love headbanging to tall poppy syndrome as much as the next guy, but this song right here is so hauntingly beautiful it hurts
the ending is the most powerful piece of music i heard in quite a while, damn leprous!!
i hope you play that live!
fuck that shit, its the most powerful piece of music in existence!!
I witnessed this song live last week. It was incredible, especially the ending!
1:07 to 1:30
A whole album's story and meaning in just a few notes and words.
It is a masterpiece!
The final 2 minutes are great
Is the intro a Gyorgi ligeti reference? (Musica ricercata)
i like most of this song, even though i was hoping for something more like their previous stuff, but i can't get into the ending vocal aaaaaaaaa part at all. it's got too much modern pop vibe, which is the exact opposite of what i like about leprous
Esta es una súper banda. De lo mejor que existe hoy por hoy
5:51 That climax! You guys keep on amazing me. So glad to see you live in November.
Impecable...
It ends too soon. So good at the end.
The tone of this band is so fucking unique
The initial chord progression reminds me a bit of Clint Mansell's score for the movie Moon.
Excelente! Saludos desde Buenos Aires- Argentina
Somehow gives some Bonneville vibes, with the nice and slow build-up before picking up 🔥. Actually this song kinda fits in the album Malina as well lol
such a masterpiece! respect
EinaaaAAAAAaaaAAAAAAAAr SoooOOOooolberg
Really getting into these. love much <3
This is just so goooood!! Just gahhhhh that build really got me guys
It's a musical orgasm...
Didn't really enjoy this or Alleviate too much upon the first few listens, but damn I've gotten absolutely hooked on this new stuff. Sure, I miss the Bilateral/Coal days as most of us do, but their last two (including Pitfalls so far) albums have been very intricate. Leprous has almost always had a slow and steady build up to their songs, but they've taken it to a new level in some of their more recent stuff.
I've actually digged the two songs before this. But this doesn't resonate with me all that much. First song I haven't digged by them. Hope this isn't the first one of a long list, the change in production and style I'm fine with, but I simply hope I can still be proud of saying "Leprous have never made a bad song."
Because this, this isn't a bad song at all. It's just my least favourite of them, but still not awful. Hope there still won't ever be one from them :)
That ending tho. Leprous NEVER disappoints
Siete magnifici, sempre. Vi amo.
the end part kicks huge, because it has a 6 minutes long buildup :-D
Leprous become a boring pop band.
40% radiohead / 50% jeff buckley/ 10% boy george
60% Radiohead !
This was absolutely beautiful.......
Wtf we Lost you forever :(
Awesome track! This album can't get here fast enough
perfection
Herbert the pervert is a genius!
looool shut up his voice is good compared to most singers these days
@Josh Greene I know, I love Leprous, and the new direction as well. I love this track, but in this case he really sounds like Herbert. And. I. Cannot. Unhear. This.
This song reminds me a lot of bands like Arai Tasuku or World´s End Girlfriend.
Masterpiece!
while I do miss the metal and the crazyness, I can't deny this is freakin amazing!!
OMG, this piece is amazing. We know that we Will not find something similar to The Congregation, in more in the brand of Malina with more melodic touches, but is Leprous 100%. Love that they made a more tan 7 minutes song and all is calm until the last minute, love how well they make the song structures. This album seems a fucking marevelous deep inside heart/mind travel. Cheers
Easily the best song so far for this album.
Excelente 😍❤️
This is so beautifully cinematic guys, I'm in awe.
his AAAaaaAAAaaaa cures my depression.
Those are mostly OOOoooOOoos.
ikr! it warms your heart like almost nothing does these days..
very nice
this is shaping to be my least favourite record by them but thats ok
I can die in peace. 🖤
And here I was checking the record label's channel every day for a new song...I almost missed this!
Pretty boring first half but it gets better at the end
I love the sound design in this song, all the reverse/rise/falls are very well crafted and contributes so much to the atmosphere.
Nothing beats the outro of "Moon"
album of the year? Tool's gonna be hard to beat but these guys may just have it in them to do so...
I don't think there will be room for any of them in my top 20
@MicShazam What albums specifically do you recommend?
@Akryon The best stuff I've heard this year has been from a variety of genres far away from metal and prog, really, so I don't expect you to like any of it.
A few favorites so far, that I expect to rank highly when the year is over:
La Yegros - Suelta
Lydia Ainsworth - Phantom Forest
Jenny Hval - The Practice of Love
Lila Downs - Al Chile
Rose Elinor Dougall - A New Illusion
Rozi Plain - What a Boost
I've still got a huge list of new albums to check out, so there's no doubt gonna be a lot more great stuff.
Definitely a strong Radiohead influence on this one 🖤
Ufff pero que esto que acabo de escuchar ;o
This month can't end fast enough. I need this album in my life.
I was worried after the first two singles. But this one has restored my hopes about this album
song shoulda ended after the bit at 550 6-20
sean knot huh? No 😂
@Enigmalake the end bit was lame. You end a song at the cresendo.
@Enigmalake to be fair i dont like the rest of the song either besides that part.
I feel so afortunate to be alive when I heard something like this, so deep, so sincere, so pure and so HEAVY at the same time, this is just what I love about Leprous.
I thought I couldn't possibly love more this band after "The Congregation". Then "Malina" came out and I was like "oh..." It was different, but still very familiar. Untill the very last sing - The Last Milestone. And now, every song from Pitfalls feels completely different from anything they've put out. It feels like...it feels like the very first time I heard "Echos" and we get to that middle section when you wanna just do a sad little dance. That amazing feeling of being legitimately surprise. That's how "Pitfalls" has been making me feel so far. The 3 songs that has been released have already make the whole album worth it.
Pure genius. Need more of Baard Kolstad pls.. Extraordinary from Einar towards the end!
This song makes my stomach shrink. It saddens me somehow.
You're simply listening to Leprous.
what the fuck is the ending, why is it so angry and beautiful and sad but awesome and makes me smile but builds up tears all at once. It's not even fair
I know, right
Life is never fair
Now this is a proper leprous, cool track, kinda reminds of ulver a bit.
