Leon Russell - Prince Of Peace Lyrics
Try and judge me only by my time and changes
And not mistaken words, for I say many
Listen only to my song and watch my eyes
There's not much time to spill, there's hardly any
And they're looking, not afraid to touch each other
They're not afraid to be themselves or someone else
Or choose their friends with love and not by colour
Never treat a brother like a passing stranger
Honey, won't you always try to keep the love light burning
Sing a song of love and open up your heart
For you might be the prince of peace returning
Yeah, you might be the prince of peace returning
And the businessmen in cells collecting pennies
Judge their wealth by coins that they give away
And not the ones that they keep for themselves for spending
Oh, never be impatient with the ones who love you
It might be yourself that you're burning
Sing a song of love and open up your heart
For you might be the prince of peace returning
Never treat a brother like a passing stranger
Honey, won't you always try to keep the love light burning
Sing a song of love and open up your heart
For you might be the prince of peace returning
For you might be the prince of peace returning
Oh, if I pay me, if I pay you
If I pray to your Jesus then you gonna tell us what you're about to do?
What if I pay me and I might pay you
Who's got the money? Who's got the money?
Who's got the money for, sing the song

Leon Russell Prince Of Peace Comments
Really miss this genius but at least we have his wonderful music. The circle remains unbroken!
Nobody could do it like the late, great Leon Russell.
That's for sure.
i am your precious baby
yeah dad sing for me iam a big girl now
I'll always Love you Leon Russell.
A friend introduced me to Leon. I absolutely love it.
I've been to innumerable concerts. The three hours of the tightest music I ever saw live was Leon Russell.
What a pro!
Actually, and I'm not jiving;same here!
God, how good does it feel to hear Leon rocking like this? When he starts singing I'm magically thrust back to the early 70's and those mystically fun times.
Oh yeah those times were fun.
Certain singer's voices do that.
Awesome video. I love Leon Russell in this era. It's like watching the Muppet's band "Dr. Teeth" come to life.
The early 1970's was for sure the best time for Leon's music.
The music of my life. So grateful I was alive during Leon's body of work.
Maranatha
Look it up
Ok. The Lord is coming, or has come, or something like that.
Amen! And Leon knew it..
Yeah, except I don't really see this as an explicitly religious song. The scriptural reference gives added resonance to the basic theme of treating others as you would like to be treated. It's basic humanity, and it transcends sectarian religion.
Rest in Peace - You Rep Tulsa so well!
Great to see Chuck Blackwell going strong here. RIP...
RIP to one whose love for his craft and indescribable talent generates love and joy and will keep his music and his name alive for generations to come. Though I never knew Leon personally, various biographical commentaries as well as from interviews with him, seem to indicate that this was one man untouched by the usual trappings of his profession, i.e. chasing fame, destructive drug and alcohol abuse. Did he use? Of course he did. Didn't EVERYONE?? But it would appear that his love of music surpassed any substance abuse. There really is a difference between using and abusing and he knew when and where to draw the line. I never tire of watching him perform.
a rare one /// , a special man and musician song writer. no hypocrisy in this man--leon was leon. he is forever
Rest in Peace, My Friend. You are Much Loved

Yes it does. The year I graduated from high school. If I remember correctly, I bought my first Leon Russell album that year. You are very welcome for the flashback.
