This is NOT John Lennon – I have the original album. John does not do those melismatic lines, nor does the guitar falter like it does here. The singer has a voice somewhat similar in timbre to John Lennon's in some aspects, but it is NOT John's voice. The person singing should have identified himself, and made it clear it was a cover.
This is one of my favorite songs.

Song always bring a tear in my eye. You can feel the extreme longing for a mother. Just for the sake of information, I memorized this song by heart, and I know it is not the recording on the White album, having had a copy before, listening to the whole for hours on end. It sounds to me as a demo or trial recording. Being a musician myself and an avid fan of The Beatles as a youngster and up to now, an oldster.

His Mum introduced John to music by teaching him how to play the ukulele. Being separated does not mean the love is made null and void. Heart wrenching song. R.I.P. both of you.

Aunt Mimi is not who she is made out to be, and this book sheds new light on John being ripped out of his mother’s arms by her. Heartbreaking and tragic, but very enlightening. A must read!
