Lee, Brenda - Eventually Lyrics

Eventually your penalty will be to hurt as I do
Eventually my memory ah my memory will haunt the dreams of you
This look I'm wearing it's called a frown
But it was a smile till you turned it upside down
I'd hate to see I'd hate to see you feel like me but this will be
Eventually my memory will haunt the dreams of you
Oh oh this look I'm wearing its called a frown
But it use to be a smile till you turned it upside down
I'd hate to see you feel like me but baby this will be
Eventually my memory ah my memory will haunt the dreams of you

Dub Allbritten was Brenda's tour manager when she was on the road.

Writer Ronnie Self was a wild Rockabilly performer who had had some adolescent run-ins with the police. As a performer, he was known on stage as "Mr Frantic". However, he managed to write tender ballads for Brenda like "I'm Sorry", "Eventually", "Sweet Impossible You" and "Everybody Loves Me But You". He even wrote "Strawberry Snow" a children's song for her Christmas album. I guess Brenda's overall sweetness just brought out the brighter side of him.

There is nothing pornographic about this song. It is about a woman who is going to haunt her first love and exact Justice. And he will hurt as she is hurting.

Moça explica isso um pouco mais , dentro de capacidade sutil sem se aprofundar demais no assunto ...e ou passe alguma referência do assunto ( agradeço)

IN 1961 I was a teenager and use to take my mother,as a partner, to dance this song. OH, how lovely and sweet were and still are those memories. Thank you so much, dear Tom, to give me the opportunity to rescue them.

"Eventually – Dum Dum – Decca 31272 – The canary has another smash in 'Eventually,' a moving ballad. Flip is a catchy item with a gospel-flavored organ backing. The young star is in top-flight vocal form on both items." (Billboard, June 12, 1961, p. 33).

  23. J.... ....

I love how her voice is mixed in with this recording, a little reverb if I'm not mistaken.

    N.... W....

When we found we too have rights.

    N.... W....

You mean women can not express their anger through breaking windows because it makes us less of a woman? We are suppose to be dainty and feminine? LOL. Oh you poor thing.

  29. T.... S....

@broot4u Very interesting! Thanks for sharing her story with us!

  30. T.... S....

@broot4u Are you talking about Sandy Selsie? She's my favorite Canadian female singer and I've posted a few of her records either on here or my TheLimePopsicle channel (I think it's the LimePopsicle one). She did sound quite a bit like Brenda, but she was incredible in her own right, as you mentioned. Loved her voice. "A Date With Loneliness" is my favorite Selsie record followed by "Gonna Get Some Records".

  31. T.... S....

@TEMPmichaelhansen Yes, she re-recorded "Jambalaya" in the '60's.

  32. l.... ....

I was 14 and she was 14 she bought me the 45 Dum Dum--Eventually in 1961...I haven't seen her since 1962 but I still play this song and recall the year I fell in love for the first time.

  33. J.... B....

@TEMPmichaelhansen ..."Eventually" is track 10 on ACE's Brenda Lee "All The Way" / "Sincerely" CD (ACE CDCHD 1060) ; In addition to the five "two-fer" CD's, ACE issued a collection of her earlier "grittier" R & R recordings..."Queen Of Rock 'n' Roll" (ACE CDCHD 1222). ACE's fantastic catalog is readily available from Amazon, CD Universe and other major music online retail sources.

  34. J.... B....

Thanks for posting this. In Baltimore, airplay was evenly split between this and "Dum Dum"..."Eventually" was every bit as popular. Too bad it's been overlooked by American CD reissue companies, as has virtually her entire catalog.

  35. J.... B....

@TEMPmichaelhansen ...England's great (!) ACE Records reissued Brenda Lee's first ten albums (two on each CD) two or three years ago. "Eventually" was on one of these CD's.
