Lee, Amos - Cup Of Sorrow Lyrics

I want to drink from your cup of sorrow,
I want to bathe in your holy blood.
I want to sleep with the promise of tomorrow,
I know tomorrow may never come.

I send a prayer out across the ocean,
To a man that?s forced out of his home.
I send a prayer out across the ocean,
So that he may not suffer there alone.

I want to drink from your cup of sorrow,
I want to bathe in your holy blood.
I want to sleep with the promise of tomorrow,
I know tomorrow may never come.

I want to sit at your table of wisdom,
So that not one crumb shall go to waste,
For if we keep down this pathway to destruction,
Oh will our children will suffer for our haste.

I want to drink from your cup of sorrow,
I want to bathe in your holy blood.
I want to sleep with the promise of tomorrow,
I know tomorrow may never come [x3]

Amos Lee, a Soulful Blues Folk Singer/Songwriter from Philadelphia, shares Gospel-inspired lyrics in many of his songs, even though he is a secularly marketed artist in the music industry.  With five albums released on Blue Note Records, "Mission Bell' has been his most successful to date.  Interestingly, it also includes the above listed song "Cup of Sorrow", which clearly has its roots in Country Gospel Blues.  It is obvious that Lee is no stranger to the Gospel-message of Christ.  Moreover, his understanding of the atoning sacrifice of Our Lord and Savior echoes repeatedly as you listen to this recording.  Thank you, Amos Lee, for expressing your honest appreciation for Christ, regardless of the genre your music is marketed within the industry.
