Another great song they can do no wrong

It's not hard to listen to, but it's not a good Led Zeppelin song. The guitar riff is redeeming everything else is a mess.

For casual Zep fans who think every song of theirs should sound like Whole Lotta Love I, II, III, and IV, songs like this that showcase their versatility are what separate them from many of their contemporaries, and put them on a higher plane. When they explored new genres and sounds, they expanded minds, and opened up new opportunities.


Their odd numbered albums tended to be more "experimental" and broader sounding (Zep I, III, HOTH, Presence), and the follow-up albums (Zep II, IV, Physical Graffiti) took what they learned from those albums and created all-time masterpieces.


Its their desire to move into new sounds, like the Crunge, that kept them fresh, and added depth to their catalog.

Is there any genre or sound Zep didn’t explore? One of the reasons I love this band. Full of surprises.

There is no bridge, but there is an arpeggio, which has been misspelled per Jimmy and Bobby. The word is arpageo. Ozzie lost the bet and he knows it and so he changed the spelling of the word and took credit for Jimmy and Bobby's so very creative concept.

This sounds like no other song I have ever heard, yet I see plenty of posts to the contrary. It is the timing in this song that sets it apart from any other. Jimmy does very complex things with timing, as in sections of different tempos all at the time. It says a lot about existence to me. Brilliant!

Tracks like this are the reason why Zeppelin doesn't get stale.
There's so much versatility to their sound.

Amazing that they opted to put this on the record rather than other tunes- Houses Of The Holy, The Rover, Travelling Ricerside Blues, that they already had recorded.

The very first time I heard this one all over again, I was about 12 ( at least that is what they tell me ). I played this one song hundreds of times in just one day. It was a 45 and on the other side was D'yerMaker. I played that several hundred times as well in the very same day.

There are 1440 minutes in a 24 hour day. The length of D'yer Maker and The Crunge combined is about 7 and a half minutes. 1440 divided by 7.5 is 192. Assuming you listened each song an equal number of times, if you listened for 24 hours NON-STOP with no sleep, meals, or bathroom breaks the ABSOLUTE MOST you could manage is 81 listens to each song.

Long story short. I was in two huge accidents, should not be alive... both times (not a joke in anyway), this song was playing. So no matter what happens if this song ever plays in my car i always skip it. Even though this album is amazing.

I do not agree. They are a band who mainly use 4/4 and they're best known for choruses with strong and catchy melodies and funky verses. Limiting them to funk only is completely wrong. Led Zeppelin were an inspiration for Chad and John, but did not influence much the overall style and sound of the band.
